Coralie Olsen was born to a young couple in Portland, Oregon, one far too busy with their lives to raise a child. They tried to raise her, but she only lived with them until she was about three months old. No matter how hard they tried, they had to make the unfortunate decision to give up their first born. Coralie was adopted by two women, Hannah and Jennifer Olsen. They had been wanting a child for a long time, and weren't able to naturally conceive, so they opened their doors and their hearts for their new child.

Coralie's life growing up was rather normal. She was fed, clothed and endlessly loved. Jennifer stayed home with her, and Hannah worked tirelessly to provide the best life she could for their daughter. Coralie never knew anything but the adoration she was surrounded by. At five years old, she learned about her being adopted, and while at that age she couldn't understand what that meant, she could understand that she had two sets of loving parents. She stayed living with her adopted family, and her bio family would visit and stay in the Olsen home with Coralie's biological sister.

When Hannah had days off, she and Jennifer would take Coralie to the ocean nearby, spending all day on the beach. Coralie would collect shells and watch the little fish swim around in the water while her mothers kept a close eye on her. She loved the ocean and all of its creatures. She'd beg her mothers to buy her books and magazines about the ocean, just so she could learn as much as possible about it. This was an interest that stuck with her throughout her whole life, and as a teen she decided she'd study marine biology. She wanted to help animals and other creatures in the ocean.

When Coralie was twenty, she moved out of her parents' home and set her sights on Kismet Harbor. She got her own little apartment, just big enough for her and her piles of books. She was determined to get herself to a comfortable place to be ready for university. She earned herself a small cashier job at Aquatica. It wasn't much, but it allowed her to be close to sea life. She worked there long enough to save up for her tuition. At twenty six, she quit and sent in her university applications. Later that year, she was accepted into the Chapman University for a marine biology course to get her bachelor's degree.

Now, Coralie is working hard for her degree. She is determined to become a marine scientist. She makes jewelry on the side, and owns a small business selling it to make extra cash.

"Trust me I get it, it's like me at work to be honest. Sometimes I'm talking to myself while writing a column," she chuckled, "Thankfully not too many people seem to hear me when I do it. And not too many people are around either." Working in an office one would think it would be kind of embarrassing or busy but thankfully it isn't. And everyone keeps to themselves." She was thankful for that, and thankful it was a small office too. "Oh if they start talking you gotta take a video. That would pay a shit ton of money," she turned to Coralie and gave her a big nod before turning back to the shells before them. She loved the summer and was glad to live near the beach and have someone else to enjoy this with. "It was always so much fun. Though my parents were the greatest, thankfully I was able to escape and dive into the arts. Even if it's just painting shells." She smiled and then sighed, "I'm going to be so much better with my own daughter about things." @coralie--olsen

"It's so weird. Everyone talks to themselves, even if they won't admit it, and yet it still is so embarrassing. But hey, just know if you ever need to talk to yourself, I won't judge." There were so many human things that seemed so strange, yet everyone did. Coralie wasn't the type to judge people on something so silly, and she'd be a liar if she said she never talked to herself. "Working in an office almost seems kind of nice. As long as you get along with your coworkers when you do have to interact with them." She laughed. "I'm open to a shit ton of money, so I'd be taking full advantage of that." Being a student, she wasn't making a whole lot of money, aside from what she was making from her business, so if she ever had the opportunity to make money off of something like that, she would be sure to take it, as far fetched as that truly was. When Rory mentioned her parents not being the best, Coralie's smile faltered. She always felt so bad for people who didn't get to grow up with parents like her own. "Art is so... Freeing. There's so many artistic paths you can take, and I find creativity helps your mind stay clear. It's good that you're out of that now," she said. "I guess that if you can take anything positive from that, it's that you know how not to raise your kiddos."

He did want this to work out so that he didn't have to be with Renee, but he wanted to make being parents work with her. "I don't think this will be a bad thing." "Like, it's all so crazy this is happening," like he had no luck dating, so he didn't think he would have kids. He wasn't too old to have them yet, but he was past the age most people did start to have kids.

"Also working out how to co-parent as we can, not a couple." Not really. He knew he freaked Renee out with the kiss, but he knew how he felt, so he had to let her know. The baby just made his feelings stronger, if anything. "Let's hope." He laughed that the baby will sleep well and not keep them both up at night. @coralie--olsen

"Definitely not. I think everything happens for a reason, and whatever reason it might be that this happened, I think it was meant to happen." Coralie wouldn't ever think that a baby would be a bad thing, and she was happy for her friend. It was a truly exciting thing, and she could only wish the best for him and the baby.

"Y'know, even if you're not in a relationship, you might find that you guys still grow a beautiful thing together. Things happen, and in the end all that matters is that you do good for your baby." Although Coralie had never been in such a position, and she didn't think she ever would put herself in that position, she wasn't going to pass judgement.

Tanner didn't know if there was enough time in the world for her to get used to tracking home any sand. She wasn't planning on laying out in it, at least, so the worst of it would just be in her shoes. Even still, it would take days to get it all out of her small home. "Terrible for machinery. Sand is up there as one of the fucking worst things for that," she huffed, having spent enough time in her life getting sand out of parts of cars to know just how destructive the stuff could be. "But, yeah, exactly that. Just forget its here when I don't come by very often. I travel a lot for work anyway now, so I'm just not here that much. Easy not think about coming here." Perhaps it had been the distance from Kismet over the course of her travel schedule that had brought her to the beach after a few weeks on the road as a way to decompress. "That's kind of you. Can't say the same, I'd rather have the quiet."

"Oh, yeah. That's totally true." Coralie didn't drive her car often enough to really see any sort of effect from the sand, but she could see how it might be bad for a vehicle. "What do you do for work? I can't wait to be done with school so I can travel that much." Aside from getting to see all sorts of animals that she'd never seen in person, going to places she'd never been to was something Coralie was incredibly excited about. She hadn't been able to travel much in her life, so having a job that would require it was a dream for her. "I'm sure it's nice to not come here all the time, in a way. Makes it much more special when you do come." For Coralie, the beach was always special to her, no matter how often she came, but she knew for the average person, going somewhere too often made the place stale and boring. "Yeah, I understand that for sure. It does get too loud sometimes, even if I can appreciate others enjoyment."

She'd barely even noticed it, but something about the way the light had hit the ground in just the right spot had caused the blonde to stop in her tracks, kneeling into the sand a moment later. She were digging, slowly, but as she shifted the sand from the spot with her fingers, she lifted the silver chain, revealing a locket with a dog and a family that she didn't recognize. Not that that was anything surprising; Kismet Harbor was proving to be a larger town than she'd expected and she'd only been here for a year so she were technically still learning everyone. "Do you recognize these people?" she questioned, looking up just as someone else approached. "I want to try to find who this belongs to because there's nothing quite like a locket with pictures of loved ones and I'm sure they're upset that it's missing."

Coralie had just dropped a jewelry order off at the post office to ship out, and decided to take a small detour to the beach. The beach was somewhere that she tried to visit on a daily basis, but she hadn't been able to visit in a couple of days, so she was eager to get her feet back on the sand. As she walked along the beach, she was picking up a few shells. She had been trying to limit how much she was taking home lately, but it felt weird not to grab at least the odd item, so she allowed herself to make a few exceptions. When she saw the woman up ahead, she smiled at her, her ears perking as the other asked a question. Squinting, Coralie peered at the picture inside of the necklace. "Hm, I don't think so," she said with a shake of her head. "I know I'd definitely be upset losing something like that. But there's so many people here. How do you suppose we'd find the owner?"

"Right!?" She said with a smile before looking down at the sand beneath her. Growing up in California afforded her the opportunity to go to the beach often. She lived near one and would go whenever she could, whether alone or with her friends. "Absolutely, and very true. Plus you could also think out loud to a point while combing through the sand, though if the shells start talking back I'd say therapy is definitely the better option." She giggled at her own comment a bit as she bent down to pick up something sticking out of the sand, and brushing it off. "As a kid I loved to find shells and then paint them, though my dad always threw them out. Thankfully now I get to decide what I do with them," she grinned and stood up, holding out a piece of off-what shell with light pink spots. "Absolutely it is, and I hope to do so with my daughter when she's old enough." @coralie--olsen

"I think if someone was to come over while I was collecting, they'd think I was losing my mind." She laughed. Talking to herself wasn't too out of the norm, and she knew that everyone more than likely did it as well, but it was one of those things that a lot of people were embarrassed to admit. "If the shells started talking back, either I really am losing it, or I'm running on two hours of sleep. I'm so glad for summer. I've been taking full advantage of it." Though she knew she'd soon have to get back to a normal sleep schedule, right now Coralie was sleeping whenever possible. Of course, she did still have things that she needed to do, like working on jewelry for her shop, but the summertime afforded her a little extra time for sleep. "I love painting shells. My parents would do the same. I had a bigger collection as a kid than I do now. I remember they'd go missing, and I'd always notice." Coralie wasn't too sure about kids for herself, but hearing Aurora talk about how she'd bring her daughter to collect shells was heartwarming. "That's wonderful. I love seeing children with the same love for the beach that I grew up with."

Tyler smiled a little as he listened to her. "I mean, I guess most things don't always go how people plan, but sometimes they work out better that way." He shrugged a little. "At least that's what I am hoping for." He knew there was still a lot they had to figure out, but he was excited for what was coming.

He laughed softly at her comment. "Yeah, I think once they are yours there is no sending them back." He shook his head jokingly. "But honestly, I think we will be okay. I know it won't always be easy, but I think the good will outweigh the hard parts." He smiled for a moment. "I am just hoping for a baby who lets us sleep once in a while." @coralie--olsen

"That's exactly it. Sometimes the things you least expect turn out to be the best life changing things. I feel like a lot of people take surprises such as a baby to be this horrible, life ruining thing, but honestly, I don't think that's the case. I know you'll be great." Of course, there were other options if they didn't want to keep the baby, but Coralie knew that life had a funny way of showing people what they needed, even if they themselves didn't think it was something they wanted.

"I think that's how that works too," she replied with a laugh. "Oh, for sure. Even if you do lose some sleep, it usually only lasts a few months, I'm pretty sure. Sleep when she sleeps, of course when you're not working. You'll just have to find whatever time you can to take a nap."

Growing up in the middle of the city, Tanner hadn't been around a lot of the beach until she started visiting Kismet Harbor over summers. She found it easy to forget how peaceful it really was out on the sand. "I can see why. I mean, the sand part sucks, that shit doesn't go away, but I don't know. The breeze is nice," she shrugged. There was something different about the air near the ocean, something that helped lighten some of the load Tanner felt that she was carrying otherwise. "Yeah, I guess it's just something easy to forget. Even if it's right here, I don't really think about coming down here. Probably better to come when it's not the summer rush."

Coralie laughed softly. "These days I don't even notice the sand I track home. It's probably always in my laundry. I don't know how good that is for my washer." Now, the sand was just part of the experience. For the average person, she could understand how annoying it would be, but for Coralie, it had just become the norm. "I guess it tends to just blend into the background. Like when you put something down and then it just becomes apart of the scenery. You know it's there, but you don't think about it." For Coralie, coming to the beach was just a part of her daily routine, but it made sense to her that for those who didn't come often, the beach wasn't a place they thought to go to much. "It's definitely better without the rush. Although in a way, seeing so many people here makes me happy. I always hope they find comfort in the beach as I do."

Hearing what she said, he chuckled, as he was still nervous, he was excited about it. It wasn't bad with Reene, but it wasn't perfect at the same time. "I know it's crazy, isn't it?" he laughed lightly. "She wasn't really planned, but she was going to be amazing," he was excited for it. "I am sure she will love extra cuddles," Tyler said, smiling at her. "But I know the feeling... I need to get used to the idea I can't hand her over he laughed. "But I will keep that in mind." him and Reene didnt plan that far ahead yet.

Coralie shrugged. "I wasn't planned either, and of course my parents took a different route, but it all worked out in the end. I know you guys will figure it out." She was sure they'd be great parents. Even though she didn't know Renee, she knew at the very least that Tyler would make a wonderful father. "Yeah. When they're your own you're stuck with 'em," she said with a laugh. "Hopefully she'll be a good sleeper. Then at least you'll get some sort of break. I know some people say the baby stage is the easiest in the course of a child's life, but I'm not sure how true that is. I guess once you have to baby proof, things might get a little more tricky."

"Owning a farm would be awesome. Though, I'm more partial to animals in the water than the ones on land. I think it would be nice to have a whole bunch of animals running about." Truly, she loved all animals. Coralie had never thought of herself as much of a farm type of girl, though she figured it would make things very convenient when it came to getting certain things like eggs, or milk. "It sucks having family be so far away. I've tried to convince my parents to move here, but they like Portland too much. You're lucky you have your brother here though." She nodded. "My brother is in his annoying preteen stage," she said with a laugh. She loved her family, but there were definitely members who she was closer with. "Thank you. I was, for sure. You know they say things happen by fate, and I really think that my parents came into my life by fate." Looking ahead, Coralie spotted a woman with a smaller child, who looked as though they were searching around. It was a longshot, but she wondered if they were the dog's owners. "What about them?"

"Oh, you know I've never really thought about that." Sutton stated, listening to the other as she mentioned water animals. "I mean, I love fish and such that we'd typically see at the aquarium, but I always assume that most people are land animals. I guess because there's more to do with them from what it seems." she shrugged. "But I'm not the most knowledgeable with sea life." she paused, though, let her smile widen a little as the other stated that she were lucky to have her brother here. "I am." she nodded. "I don't think I would've been able to get through this last year without him, truly." she admitted, eyes focusing on the other. There were something about family being around that would always be comforting, but especially when you were dealing with something as Sutton had been with the death of her husband. "I don't miss that annoying preteen stage." she shook her head. "I know that I've always been grateful to have Griff, but, he was really annoying as a teen." she laughed, happy that the other seemed to understand where she was coming from. It was only after a few minutes of walking that they ran into the mother and her child, which made Sutton's heart break a little. Sometime she wondered if that's how lost she looked with Finley. "It's worth a shot. They do seem like they lost something." @coralie--olsen

"What is it about combing through the beach and finding treasures that just like calms the nervous system?" Rory asked Coralie as she bent down to inspect a small piece of pink that she saw poking out of the sand. As she crouched down and picked up the piece, finding an oddly shaped piece of glass she held it up to the sun. "Like I don't think or worry about work or motherhood or like anything when I'm looking for stuff," she turned back to Coralie. "I always leave here with a clearer head ya know."

Coralie smiled, giving a nod. "I feel that too. Even if I don't leave here with anything, I feel like it just helps me let go of all of the anxiety and stress of life." Although now that she was done school for the summer, that stress and anxiety was lessened. "It's almost better than any kind of therapy. And it's free." Something about combing through the shells and piece of seaglass brough an instant calm to Coralie. It had always been the thing she did when things got a little stressful. "I have a huge collection of stuff at home, but the beach always calls me back. It's just a necessary part of my day."

"I can't believe you're going to have a baby. I know you'll be such a good dad though," Coralie said, shaking her head. She didn't have many friends who had children yet, and she couldn't see herself having any kids anytime soon. It was crazy to think about, but she was really happy for Tyler. "I'm going to be coming over for baby cuddles, like as soon as possible. Kids are best when you can hand them back when you're done." She laughed. "But if you guys need a babysitter, don't hesitate to call. If I don't have homework, I'm always down."

"I definitely would." Sutton laughed. "If it had been up to me, I'd have kept every animal that came in out path and likely would've started my own farm." she laughed, shaking her head. "I know my parents would've hated that." Truthfully, that was one of her dreams she never got to speak into existence for whenever her and her late husband had planned to move here. They were going to move to Kismet Harbor, raise their babies in the log cabin his family owned, build their own farm in the back yard. But, unfortunately for Sutton they never got the chance to do that. Clayton's life was cut short before they were able to move out here. As the other spoke of her story some, sharing that she were happy to be who she was with the parents she had, Sutton smiled wider, listening. "Oh I definitely feel that." she laughed. "I am thankful that my brother and I are very close, and I mean, I'm close with my dad too; Griffin is just down the street where my dad is on the other side of the country." she stated. "It's just a lot sometimes, being around women so much, it's always nice to have a moment where you can rely on a male counterpart. Whether that's a partner, a brother, a parent." she spoke. "But, for what it's worth and what little I know about you, I can tell you were raised by good people." she smiled. Sutton smiled as the other told her to be her guest. "We'll see if we can find who this guy belongs too first." she admitted. "And if we can't then, I'll take him home. Figure out if he's the right fit for me or not." @coralie--olsen

Skipping rocks like this was very much something Tanner had done more so as a kid. Back in the summers she'd come to Kismet with Ian and his family, exposed to a whole new side of the world from the grimy streets she'd grown up in. Even if she hadn't spent a lot of time around the beach in her life, the memories associated with it were all good ones. "You know, I sure don't. If you couldn't tell," she snorted, gesturing towards the water to indicate the previous attempt that had gone awry. "Don't know why I'm even out here, honestly. It just felt like the day for it. You a big beach person?"

Coralie chuckled. She could kind of tell, but it wasn't as though she was actually going to tell that to the other woman. "Call of the waves. Sometimes you just need the ocean breeze on your skin. It's like therapy for me." She nodded. "Huge beach person. Like, if it were realistic, I'd put up a tent and live out here. I come almost daily, especially now that I'm done with school for the summer." While there were times where she didn't come as often, Coralie made it a priority to visit the beach, even if it was only for a few minutes. She didn't feel right if she didn't go for too long. "I'm surprised more people don't come down here more often. I love this place, but I am definitely biased."

"For the most part. I mean, he's a lot of work, but he really is a great dog." Any kind of pet was work, really, but having a dog was nice. Having someone who was always with you. "Plus I have." She paused, trying to think of the words. Her English was better, but never perfect. "Big dog privilege," Celina said, posing it more as a question, if that is what it's called. "I'll take him to the bark to do scent work, but he also does bit work with the local police." She always spoke slowly to make sure her words made sentences through her thick accent. "Maybe you can come with me to Italy sometime. You would love Venice." Celina tried to visit the rest of her maternal family when she was able. She was lucky that her Uncle had a plan and could fly her to and from. "My uncle flies back and forth for our family's restaurant all the time." Celina added that sometimes she went with him to 'help'. "I can't wait for the semester to be over. It's been hard." With losing her mom at the begining of the semester, she had gotten behind, but had caught up at this point. @coralie--olsen

"You'll have to let me come over and visit him one day. I need to get some puppy cuddles in." That was a perk of having friends with dogs. Even if Coralie didn't have her own, she could always go get dog love from other people's dogs. "Yes. Big dog privilege is definitely a good thing. I suppose that would be a good reason to have one. Luckily this town is pretty safe, but you can never be too sure." Her brow raised. "Really? He doesn't like, bite you because of that? Doesn't that like, make them more aggressive?" Coralie didn't know a lot about dogs to begin with, let alone know about something like bite work. It was interesting, but it concerned her a little. "You say the word, and I'll pack my bags. "Yeah, a little." Listening to the man describe her, her brows raised with surprise. Coralie was amazed at how spot on he'd described her. She'd never thought of herself as so obvious. "Are you sure you didn't stalk my socials before this?" she asked. "You're pretty on point. I can't tell you one thing you got wrong. But, my jewelry is self-made. I run a little online business selling it." She wasn't trying to self-promote or anything, but she didn't want to seem like one of those women that had to have the most expensive jewelry. She preferred how affordable making her own jewelry was. "Both, honestly. I think aside from school, I'm not overly high strung. I think you should look into being some sort of... Person reader. Definitely gotta workshop that title though."

The beach had never been Tanner's place to hang around, only ever visiting now and again in the summers growing up when she'd come with Ian to Kismet Harbor. Tossing a rock out had seemed like a perfectly reasonable thing to do, her mind seeing it skip beautifully across the surface when instead it had just come flying right back their way. "You know, fair as fuck. I'd probably throw rocks back at someone if they threw one at me." In fact, Tanner knew without a doubt that she would do just that. "I thought it would skip, you know. Bounce a few times. Guess that's not how it works when the water is moving this much." The surf was a lot more active than most of the bodies of water Tanner visited, the water coming in and out with enough ferocity that skipping a rock would be nearly impossible.

Coralie wasn't particularly upset at the rock skipping in itself, but she was a little bit annoyed that she had almost been hit. She couldn't blame the woman much, though. It was mostly the fault of the water—not the other. "Yeah, me too." She laughed softly, trying to lighten the mood and push away any ounce of irritation she was feeling. "Guess you'll take note for future reference. Can't blame you much. I used to love skipping rocks when I was a kid." She inhaled, a smile tugging at the corner of her lips. "Do you come skip rocks out here often?"
