Daisy RidleyĀ by Brian Bowen Smith (2015)
{ ; west:
āBloody fucking hell.ā West said speed walking out trying to avoid everyoneās gaze that he passed. This couldnāt be happening no one was supposed to know and now he had to worry about his sister too.
-- cora eyed weston as he sped by, avoiding her gaze. āyou look guilty,ā she stated, still watching.
{ ; gail:
Gail chuckles grinning. āRight? Like leather masks look awesome and all but your skin canāt breathe. Honestly, Iām sure youāll look great.ā Laughing more she nods.Ā āAny predictions?ā
-- āthey donāt even look good. you look like a wannabe vampire,ā she scoffed. āand of course iāll look great.ā coraās confidence was refreshing considering she wasnāt the biggest fan of dressing up. āpeople will get drunk. girls will cry because they didnāt win prom queen. maybe some making out with someone elseās significant other.ā
{ ; jay:
J.P. smirked. āYou sure? Whatever you have thatās strong and maybe a handful.ā
-- āpositive,ā cora chirped, smiling brightly. āyou donāt need to pay me for anything. and i think i have some tylenol with codeine left?ā
{ ; ludvig:
for as long as they could remember they had despised their father, not only because he was the reason for their motherās passing, but also because the old man was a piece of shit. a bigger piece of shit than ludvig themselves, and that they could not tolerate.Ā ā canada, america, australia, all the same, man. an yeah ?? screw being good, thatās what i say. ā they muttered, using their elbow to nudge the other at her side.Ā ā me ?? be quiet ?? as likely as me getting married to donald fucking trump. you bitch. i canāt believe you though so little of me. ā
-- cora screwed up her face when ludvig spoke. ātotally not the same thing,ā she protested, hands on hips, āitās the speaking english thing, isnāt it? sorry iām not brooding and swedish.ā cora taunted her friend a bit. bumping shoulders with them, she gave a mock look of shock. āi am so sorry,ā she gasped, trying to be melodramatic. āwill you ever forgive me? how can we go on after this most horrendous, grievous fault?ā she laid her head face down on their shoulder, āludvig, i am an awful friend.ā
{ ; jay:
āYou assume correct.ā J.P. avoided the nurse at all costs. āYeah. Iāll pay you for some.ā
-- āintuition,ā cora offhandedly stated. āyou donāt have to pay me. what and how much do you need?ā
{ ; ludvig:
fidgeting fingers finally rested in their front pocket, poisonous fingers wrapping around the loose coins in it. they were useless here, old, golden-wrapped swedish crowns, a taunting reminder that they didnāt belong there.Ā ā called it. knew your shitty ass government was up to something. this is what happens with you let capitalism take over. you need socialism. iām telling you. Ā ā they exhaled, yet, a somewhat amused smile replaced their usual stiff lips.Ā ā you wanna do something fun ?? like ā i donāt know ā spike the punch ??Ā also, kinda wanna cause some drama. yāknow, make out with someoneās date, punch some dude in the face, that kinda jazz. ā
-- cora held up her hands and shook her head. āiām from canada, donāt lump me in with this shit,ā she replied. āiām here because itāll be āgood for meā,ā cora muttered, gaze turned downwards. she was a bit bitter towards her parents, always feeling like the leftover of her family. the overlooked kid. after a bit of silence, cora looked back up, brightening. āuhm, yes! thatās the only way the prom will be fun! hell, i was worried you were going to be quiet during the whole thing.ā
Iāll learn impulse control when Iām dead
{ ; jay:
J.P. huffed. āNone taken.ā He said holding it lightly. It still hurt like hell. āI should probably take something for it.ā He mused.
-- āi assume you wonāt go to the nurse?ā she asked. āi have pain killers if you need them. boxing and soccer give me my fair share of bumps so i have a massive bottle always.ā
{ ; ludvig:
the states was the personification of everything ludvig despised, greed, capitalism, rednecks with guns, incest and dr. pepper. surely the move here had been their fatherās way of saying fuck you. turning their hues to face the other, they couldnāt help but feel somewhat better. in a country where everything was shit, she was the least shitty thing they had stumbled upon.Ā ā lizard government ?? damn. thought that shit was like common knowledge. ā they joked, rolling their shoulders and rubbing their face in response to her comment.Ā ā letās do something about this fucking frustration, then. you in ?? Ā ā
-- cora was getting antsy at this point. something was bothering her but she couldnāt put a finger on what it was. ālizard government,ā she repeated, withholding her gaze from ludvig for a second before looking at them. āshh,ā she held her finger up to her lips, āobviously itās a secret. they brainwash as well. only foreigners see through the bullshit. though, if youāre particularly easy to influence, doesnāt matter where youāre from- youāre screwed.ā she laughed a bit, joking. turning full attention back to them, cora raised her eyebrows. āinterest piqued. iām in. whatever it is, letās do it,ā she smiled, flexing her hands.

{ ; jay:
J.P. chewed on his lip he knew she wanted to talk about it. āThanks.ā He said with a sigh. āItās just ugh..ā
-- cora gave a shrug before saluting her friend. āno offense,ā she looked back at his injury and screwed up her face, āit looks ugh.ā
{ ; kim:
āOh?ā Kim smiled, leaning forwards.Ā āDo tell.ā Part of her was hoping Cora would have an idea of somebody- anybody- to ask her out. Kim was feeling sort of depressed since no guy seemed even a little interested in going with her.
-- ācooking things up with winter. ludvig, too,ā she smirked. cora fiddled with her fingers, not really noticing kimās mood. āgotta make it fun. because dances are stupid, letās be honest.ā
{ ; cadmus:
āOkay,ā Cad smiled, opening his notebook.Ā āWeāll start small. Do you feel safe at this school?ā
-- āsafe?ā cora repeated. she remained quiet for a bit before answering, āi rely on myself and trust in myself to ensure my own safety- not this school.ā
{ ; asher:
āAfraid this is my own fault,ā Asher grunted, getting to his feet.Ā āBusted my foot while training. Made some stupid choices. But no, not a regular thing.ā
-- cora looked at him with raised eyebrows. āhow?ā she asked. āi kinda feel bad for contemplating laughing..ā
