“Yeah, you learn to accept family just as they are.” Corbin nodded. “It’s an uphill challenge, but you can’t help loving them.”

Exactly. I once knew a kid in my neighborhood who liked to terrorize me with a clown mask which is what led me to punch him in the face.

“I personally think that ship sailed a long time ago. On some days, I think Kai likes Alec more than he likes me.” It was a joke but there was a hint of truth in it. “Kai’s a good kid regardless. Just very energetic but I guess most kids are.”

“Look at it this way, Noah. Alec is energetic just like Kai while also possessing a juvenile personality at times where he acts like your son’s age. Where does that leave you?” Corbin swept out her arms in a light shrug. “It’s like fathering two children instead of one. And that’s the reason Kai and Alec are similar.”

“We already have another Alec running around. I don’t mind it, for the most part, although the kid can drive me bonkers.” Noah loved Kai but the kid could definitely be a handful although he wasn’t dealing with parenthood on his own any more.

“Well, cross my heart and hope to die that the time I spend with Kai would be worth it. I’ll make sure he doesn’t turn out too much like him.” There wasn’t a guarantee that it would work, though, not that Corbin wanted to change Kai. That’s who he was.

It shouldn’t ever be surprising. Kids are very impressionable and look to the people caring for them on behavioral cues. We don’t need another Alec running around.

“He’s the same. Still a hyperactive handful.” Even if it seemed as if Noah was complaining, he honestly wouldn’t have it any other way. “I hear Kai has become quite the birth control for most of our babysitters.”

“Kids. Can’t live with or without them.” Corbin shrugged. She never considered having children of her own and it was intriguing seeing a previous partier like Alec go for the domesticated life. “Maybe you didn’t hire the right kind of babysitter. I think Kai is a perfect angel so if you’re ever looking for an awesome sitter, I’m around.”

It’s been great to be a part of a show which is groundbreaking in terms of being an American woman and being Asian on television because there’s people who don’t see a lot of that and I’m really proud of it.
