Today would be Alexis’s 27th birthday. Sunflowers were her favorite flower. Before she left this earth, we were on our way home from camping at a campground surrounded by sunflowers. We listened to Sunflower Vol. 6 by Harry Styles so many times during that camping trip. In the almost 4 years we were together, she never posted a picture on Instagram and all that remains in her bio is the sunflower emoji 🌻. On our way home from, what she called our “God Brain” camping trip we stopped at Goodwill & she bought a book about all of the original religions. We were listening to I Wanna Get Next To You by Rose Royce. We were in the backseat of the truck, playing chess on our phones. It was my turn so the message said “Your Move!”. Her friend swerved off the road suddenly, we crashed & rolled over & over again. We landed upside down. I yelled “Everybody say something so I know you’re okay!”. I got out of the truck and found her 30 yards away from the truck. The moaning pains of my soulmate haunt me to this day. Since then, I’ve been focused on creating an album to honor her life, our relationship, her music tastes, & all of the synchronicities we experienced together. I’m planning to release the album on 09/04/2021, exactly one year after her death. The Spanish word for year is A Ñ O.
