Behind the mask and away from the music, this blog is dedicated to the words spoken by Corey Taylor.
Goofy, articulate, complicated, insightful, loquacious, charismatic, passionate, unapologetic, intelligent, opinionated, wise, hot headed and warm hearted.
Whether it is a humorous anecdote, a powerful lyric, an insightful opinion or an inspirational quote, I am a Corey Taylor fan wanting to share his beautifully truthful views on the world around him to inspire others. His music, his views and his beliefs have gotten me through some very troubled times and he continues to inspire me.
Aside from being the explosive and energetic vocalist of Slipknot and Stone Sour, I have always, above anything, considered Corey Taylor to be a profound thinker and an honest writer. He is a modern day prodigy and, last but not least, my number one (eight?) hero.
To all my followers, random readers and people who have sent me inboxes, thank you for your kind words. I didn't realize so many people loved this blog. I'm back from my long absence and will be posting more, due to popular demand! Thanks again :)
"I saw Nirvana really early on when they were still playing clubs in Denver. At a place called the Mercury Cafe. They were just unreal, I'd never seen anything like it."
"I'm not a big fan of IMAX theaters, no. They're too clean. They're too nice. I need gross. I need, like, jujubes hangin' from the ceiling. I need, like, sticky floors. Where I'm like, 'What do they show on the weekends when nobody's here?' Questionable shit? Absolutely. Holes in the popcorn boxes. It is what it is. It's a dream, okay? Don't judge me." - Corey Taylor, Point Radio Show, 2007.
"Anywhere selling fried chicken is my Mecca. There's a KFC in almost every country. But in England, they don't have mashed potatoes and gravy. How do you eat KFC without fucking mash and gravy? That's bullshit." - Corey Taylor, Revolver Magazine, 2007.
"So many people limit themselves by holding onto that baggage. They cut themselves off at the knees. And for me, meeting my father, and seeing how he was, and seeing that other side of where I came from, allowed me to kind of ascend spiritually. Now not to get all hippy or anything, but, you cant realise your potential unless you LET yourself realise your own potential." - Corey Taylor, Kerrang Interview, 2009.
"We had three or four strikes against us to begin with. We were a nine piece band, from Des Moine, Iowa, at the time playing brutal metal. There is no way in hell we should have made it. We tapped on something that was out there that people needed. There was a pissed off group of people that were tired of the really soft, really dishonest message that was going on out there." - Corey Taylor, Unmasked Interview (YouTube) 2008.
Thanks for the follow for a start, may I just say this blog is necessary because as you say he is "Goofy, articulate, complicated, insightful, loquacious, charismatic, passionate, unapologetic, intelligent, opinionated, wise, hot headed and warm hearted" and he has always stood up for what is right in metal, in music and in the world
Thank you, so so much. I appreciate that. I love all the slipknot/stone sour/Corey Taylor blogs out there but I found it so hard to come across any with quotes. And as we all know, Corey is the big lovable loudmouth, he's very opinionated and everything he says is so valid and and so honest. I just wanted to created a blog where I could proudly share his words and hopefully inspire others. Couldn't resist following you - checked out your blog and basically every post had me salivating. You have great taste xx
"Here's what I'm gunna say about bullying. If you have the power to help other people, and instead you use that power against other people, and you make other people feel like shit about who they are, because YOU feel like shit about who YOU are, YOU'RE a piece of shit. Straight up. And I'm not fucking one of these new age people that says everyone can be saved. Some of you can't. Some of you are gunna fucking run down the fucking side of your leg. But I will give everyone a chance. And it's not just like that in school. Bullying continues all through fucking life. It's in your work. It's in people who decide to give a little bit of power, and decide they're going to use it for a lot of fucking bullshit. It's in politics. I think it's painfully small how these bullies can be." - Corey Taylor, live in Pheonix, Arizona, 2011.
I appreciate every single one of you! I've noticed a lot of people are reblogging my posts and leaving the quote attached. This is so nice :-) I hope everyone is being inspired by CT! Peace xx
"The things that scare me are real life situations. Real life is much more scary than anything you can put on the movie screen. Which is why I get very upset when people try to blame the movies for the violence in this world. I'm like 'Are you kidding me?'. There is more violence in a four hour period on CNN than any movie I have in my massive collection." - Corey Taylor, Hot Topic interview, October 2010.
So glad I found this blog! :) I'm not the only one crazy about Corey
Oh I know exactly how you feel! He is my number one hero and has been for nearly 13 years. I respect him so much and it'd be such a privilege if I ever got to shake his hand one day. Thanks so much for your message! Always great to meet a fellow admirer! :)
"You have incredible lives ahead of you. You have incredible things that you can accomplish. If you feel that, you will have an amazing life. Do not let anything build a wall too high for you to get over. And I know that might seem very cliche, but I've had alot of friends who had hurt themselves. And when you're younger, a lot of that stuff is so temporary. You can get through it. You're stronger than you think. You'll ALWAYS be stronger than you think. Feel with your heart and do what you want." - Corey Taylor, backstage at the 2009 Kerrang Awards.
