THE FLOWER SHOP II @ofmagicallonging
"Robin's going to be mad," these were the words that the vampire mumbled to himself as he looked at the ruined garden. Cornel had not anticipated the hail storm. Heck he would have known had he watched the television, but like with everything modern he struggled to even turn it on without it being on the wrong port.
Now he was standing in the mud that was caked to his shoes, debating whether there was any way to gather the ruined peonies and hydrangeas that they needed for the commission. A wedding no less. Still he got to work gathering what he could, hoping that the blonde man could work some magic even with some not so perfect flowers. Maybe hide the ruined petals?
The amount that he managed to scrounge was almost half of what they needed. Not enough, but hopefully enough to make it work. Cor made his way with some flowers that were protected by the greenhouse and the best of the ruined ones to the flower shop the two had opened.
Once he had the building in sight it had brought back the memories of the two of them actually meeting by accident during the flower festival few towns over. He was trying to find someone to sell the flowers to while the taller male needed a supplier. Everything worked out in the end - even to the point where after getting to know each other they developed a little more than a business relationship.
That however didn't diminish the feeling of frustration and guilt as he during the soft patter of rain made his way inside the shop itself through the back door. "Robin! Precious we have a situation here!" There was definitely not enough time to regrow the flowers that were ruined - despite the reserves he had made.
This particular bride had been the bane of Robin's life recently. Every couple of days she changed her mind or wanted something more extravagant than what he was capable of. He had been stressed for weeks because of her. But he knew the pay was going to be worth it if he could just get through the rest of the week.
He'd been on the phone to her that morning, only to have to negotiate her down from changing everything for the millionth time. He managed to get her to agree to some of the original plans so he could still manage with the order. But it hadn't been pleasant and left him fuming. He was pacing the shop as he angrily stripped some flowers ready for a bouquet. Normally he'd been so careful and precise with what he did. But there was leaves and stems everywhere as he tried to get his anger out. Unfortunately his magic was reacting and causing the leaves to be floating around, so he was just glad no one had came in.
Then he heard the door and had to quickly stop the magic , causing the mess to only get worse. He looked up at he heard the one voice that could probably calm him down right now. "You're right we do! You must be telepathic or something.!" He instantly started to ramble as he continued to discard leaves on the floor. "She called again. She wanted roses and sunflowers and lavender which don't work together. Those scents wouldn't work nor would they look pretty. Then in the same breath wanted lilies and dasies and baby's breath. Which would look cute if it weren't for the fact she wanted them as her flower arch. Which wouldn't work..lilies can't be used like that. Then she wanted orchids. A hundred orchids. Then water Lillie's. She can't make her mind up and I feel sorry for the bloke who's going to be stuck with her." He got more and more irritated as he spoke and was paying less attention to what he was doing. "I just can't with her."
The vampire made a face as soon as the door closed and he heard the tone of his lover's voice. Even if he had known him for a short time, he could discern the bride put him through hell and back. For once he was glad he was out and didn't have to deal with her, because even if he was a gentleman and could negotiate better deals, that he wouldn't be able to handle.
Walking to the front with the boxes of freshly cut flowers and other supplies from the back they would need. "Please tell me she changed the order." he called out from behind the stack which should have been carried in two batches were he human. He never paid attention to what would pass by a normal weight limit without being out of breath. Yet somehow he managed to always talk himself out of it...said he worked out a lot.
"There was an unexpected hailstorm in my area and well..the garden took the brunt..." he stopped mid sentence as he saw how Robin was mutilating the flower. "Easy there that poor plant is not at fault" giving his lover a sheepish smile he proceeded to unload the contents, letting Robin see what he managed to save.
"Can we work with this or...do I have to charm my way into persuading that bridezilla to change the flowers?"

This was the last time the vampire actually listened to the advice of some random vampire without ever checking his sources. Mind you he was never like this - he had always double checked the information coming his way, however this time around there was no time. This time around it was his life on the line and he had barely survived the assault. Cornelius was aware of the vampire hunters in the area, what he was not aware of was their association with the select few vampires in his vicinity. Oh and he should have known. It was all too good to be true not to be a trap and yet...here he was underneath his own home, regenerating after multiple wounds and a good aimed stab at his heart.
He had no clue how long he had been in the sanctuary of his own coffin beneath the dining room. The groggy state of his mind and muscles should have suggested long enough for new occupants to find his home and use it as their own. However with the way he was stumbling through the dark hallway and towards the secret entrance it never occurred to him that was a possibility.
His sleepy mind had only one goal - feed and then scope out the time period he woke up in, hopefully not too long after he had settled for the healing. As luck would have it (in a bad way), not only was his house occupied, but by one of his enemies of sorts. That he could ascertain as soon as he willed the secret door open and the table to move so he could ascend into his home. "Why..." he yawned, trying to look around the dimly lit room. "Why does my house smell like a wet dog for heaven's sake." Had he forgotten to close the doors as he stumbled in back then? How long was he even out? And perhaps the most important realization that came to his mind as soon as he registered he's not alone. Shouldn't he had been more cautious when still not at his full strength?
When Thayne had claimed the space as his own, he was still quite a bit younger. A piece of his ear missing, as he had broken the rules of the pack he was in, now to never be part of one again. Thayne was an outcast now. When he took it, it looked abandoned. Thick layers of undisturbed dust everywhere, a lot of spiderwebs. He did find portraits of someone who could have been the owner once.
The first few days he had been on high alert, expecting someone to find him or for the owner to return, but that didn’t happen. That alertness ebbed over the weeks, month and eventually it was gone. Thayne had cleaned it up and fixed a few things that weren’t working as well or at all. Upgraded other things.
By the time he heard something, many years had passed, and it made the wolf's growl that someone had entered his home, his territory. Unaware that someone had been here the whole time, but he could smell it now. It was like death, but not quite… “Vampire…” He walked down the stairs, towel around his waist, hair long and still wet, and his torso on display that bore a lot of scars of all sizes.
As soon as the vampire had heard the footsteps approach his eyes snapped to the doorway immediately. It was not until then that he had noticed that his house had the lights on, or the fact that his previous furniture was not all in the same place as he had left it. A clear sign someone else was living in here.
It was not until Cor's eyes had met with the current occupant's that the reason behind his house smelling the way it did, was because of the werewolf living here. That had never occurred to his mind that could happen yet here they were, facing each other.
The vampire was debating on the best approach. He might have been in a need of a feed and currently at his strongest, however the way his arms and legs felt leaden he didn't even think he would have the better hand. Despite him knowing the lay of the house anyway.
"Well.. that is not what I expected after waking up in my house, of all people." rubbing at his eyebrows the older man sighed. Looking around then and noting the new appliances and some that he didn't even recognise. "What in the bloody hell is that black thing above the mantle piece? And... " looking at the man in question. "Dare to explain how did you manage to get past all the wards?" crossing his arms over his chest he looked anything but menacing compared to the barely clothed behemoth few steps away from him. Even if the state of his dated rugged and bloody clothing should have suggested that he could hold his own.

// Hello all, how have you been? I know that it has been a few years since I have gone silent, however my life has settled now completely with work, family (being married) and living conditions (owning the place so no need to move anymore).

//soooo my hands are full, but I promise I’ll get back on here come june (hopefully!) BUT!
I managed to submit my thesis finally, after the supervisor was a bit of a well... annoying let’s just say. However, it means i can attend the school leaving exams now yay.
I managed to move into the leased apartment this weekend
and have three exams in the span of three days.. love the school system.
Still everything is going according to plan! (except the fact i have no free time whatsover, adulting is hard TT)
// A little update! I have officially signed a lease and will be moving out of my dorm come May! That’s one less thing to worry about. Now all i need is finish the damn school and get a contract at work and i’ll be free!...well somewhat but it’s approaching and I can’t wait!

After the phonecall Enoch had received at the beginning of the week he couldn't possibly focus on anything. He had cut off all ties and burned all bridges from his hometown and his family he never talked to anyone from his family, never even sent or received a Christmas card from them. So when his mother's sister, his aunt, called Enoch to tell him that his mother was at the hospital... He felt the earth vanishing fron underneath his feet. His mother... Was in the hospital.
That day, Enoch woke up very early, in an hour he was barely ever awake, but this night... He barely slept. He felt like he had just closed his eyes but didn't rest, not in one bit. So while it was still dark outside, Enoch slowly slipped off the bed to get dressed.
He looked over to Cornelius, he didn't want to awake him this early, but he silently walked closer to his side of the bed and caressed with his thumb his forehead and leaned in to kiss his head. "I love you..." he whispered and left a small note on his nightstand. He picked up his backpack, placing it over his shoulder and lifted his luggage. He silently closed the door of the master's bedroom and walked down the stairs where a taxi was waiting for him outside.
On the note he had handwritten a few simple words of love to Cornelius. 'I couldn't find it in me to wake you up. We'll talk on the phone, you can call me whenever you have time. I adore you. - yours, Kitten.'
Cornel’s mood plummeted the moment he had heard the dejected voice of his lover. He had heard him like this only few times during their relationship and not once did he like it. It made him all the more glad that he had decided to take the few days off to come and join him in this rural area. Besides it would do them both a little good to be out of the city for a while.
What he didn’t expect was the taller boy throwing himself at Cor. Grunting as he caught him, he had to stagger against the nearest pillar when he felt his knee buckle. “Kitten.” he breathed trying to set him down gently, ruffling his hair as he regarded him. “Doing a good job at ruining my things, starting with the mental state in the morning, now my knee...what’s going to be next, hm?” he teased, leaning against the pillar for support. Even though his tone was playful it was clear that the dom was glad he was here, that he saw Enoch, no matter how short the time apart had been.
“What do you think, I came to punish you for the stunt you pulled.” he grinned making his limping way over to his bag and sighing as he leaned down to pick it up. However he was stopped midway by the other just pulling him in for a kiss which had the dom hum and raise his eyebrow at him. “Pet..you are testing my patience right now.” he warned against the other’s lips before he pushed himself back. “Let’s get you inside and ...not eating icecream.” Cornel shook his head. Knowing his sub the boy had eaten only the cold delicacy he felt from the other’s lips and mouth.
“We both know you can’ eat too much sugar, or you’ll be hyper and god knows I can’t handle you hyper with my jacked up knee.” he grumbled to himself, finally stepping inside the house and looking around.

Locke had been on a self-destruct path. Things with Cornel had been good. They had been enjoying each others company, spending time together. For Locke, as much as that should be good, it was making him antsy and reckless. He never had anything this good. His life was a series of bad relationships and being alone. Now that Cornel was around, Locke was just waiting for everything to blow up in his face.
He had been working a lot, finding the most complicated and difficult jobs possible. He had been increasingly reckless and would come home beat up, bruised, crashing from the adrenaline high, and would promptly have a few drinks, sometimes more than a few. Locke knew that Cornel had noticed the change in him, but he didn’t know what to say or do. He sat drinking a glass of whiskey, he hadn’t expected for Cornel to come into the room.
“Hey handsome.” He murmured.
Cornel let out a shuddering breath, a cold shiver running down his spine as he was held. Locke’s voice brought him comfort alright, but the questions that followed definitely did not. Swallowing thickly he took one more breath before he spoke. “You know how I never...I didn’t really have a serious relationship after early in my life because...” falling silent he just tried to get the jumble of thoughts and memories in order.
“I had a wife and a kid...” he admitted. “The most beautiful princess under the sun.” a sad smile made his way to his lips as he recalled the memories. “She loved making wreaths of the wild flowers and made me wear them.....well..It all ended, hunters found them when I was not home.. gave them deaths worth a vampire who wasn’t behaving.” licking his lips, he shrugged. “I just...I don’t want to get home to the same image with someone I...love.” he admitted after all, the word so quiet that it could be mistaken for him breathing out, but he did admit it out loud. “I care about you Locke, I’m just scared, okay?”

Cornel wasn’t entirely sure whether it was him or Enoch that made them so distant, but one thing was for sure. He was scared of any further step in their relationship since the last time he let himself be happy and have a family with a human it ended badly. He reckoned that the the fact he was alive was the fact they underestimated his power back then. No matter how much he adored the taller tatted man, he couldn’t bring himself to just pursue those feelings for him. He didn’t want to be responsible for anything that might happen to him. Not again.
To keep his mind occupied the vampire returned to reading once again, however the classics he owned, no matter how much he adored them, had bored him and he wasn’t that opposed to search for a new release to keep him entertained for the day. What he didn’t expect was running into the man himself at the front door. He knew that the other had seen him since their eyes had met and it made Cornel cringe on the inside. He wasn’t even sure where to pick up the conversation - he had cussed him out after he had confessed his feelings didn’t he?
Not having any messages from him, he figured that the man decided to ditch him after his cold shoulder. However awkward it was, it would have been even more so if he didn’t say hi when they clearly acknowledged each other. “Hello.” he said softly, running a hand through hair, eyes glancing away from him to the books in his hand and then the name tag. “You...you work here? How come I’ve never seen you around?” there ...this should be a safe conversation right?
