She’s just downing that as if it was water. I can already guess this won’t bode well... at least for me.

Levi deeply sighed just watching the lieutenant getting intoxicated by one of the strongest alcohol in the barracks. It is recommended to consume them gradually and moderately and not treat it as if it was.. tequila shots.

Slowly but surely he’d pull her glass away from him but only to freeze when he ran her finger down his nose... and spewing out very out of character words from this cold and stern girl.

“... That’s.. flattering.” He answered with a small cough and kept pulling her glass away from her. “ Aria, you should stop your starting to think ridiculous things.”

— The blonde woman became a bit tipsy for a few passing minutes after chugging down the scotch. The harsh scent of drink can be smelt out of her. She drank just a little less than the amount that she can handle and would slur her words and hoped the rosiness of her cheeks didn’t give her away. In this way, she could stay anaesthetized through the pain that she’s suffering every night. “Well, we always wake up to another nightmare called R E A L I T Y anyways. So, what’s the point in sleeping?” Her eyebrows furrowed while sighing and continued speaking.

“I’m not fond of walking. I’d rather drown myself with paperwork than walking endlessly just to make myself tired.” 

It didn’t really take a genius to figure out that the Lieutenant in front of him was already hit with the alcohol. He had to stop so he wouldn’t be in such state or else who would look out or take care of her in this state? He sighed and would quietly prepare water and pour it in her empty glass to somewhat trick her to rehydrate.

“ Well, reality is. You need to sleep or rest because you are slurring your words. And you need to walk back to your room.”

“ The moment you kissed me when you were pissed drunk.”

— “mmhm. I have to take those sleeping pills, or there is no rest for me for the whole night. My sleep interval is usually 3-4 hours long. And I woke up in between, battling my own demon.” Aria explained while chugging the whole scotch on her glass. She went for another round while nudging the empty glass in front of Levi.

She chugged that so fast. She’ll get knocked out early at this rate. Oh well.

Levi just sighed, pouring her another glass of the whiskey. “ Well, life always has a way to fuck with our sleep. Either with sleep deprivation or demons yelling for you.” He said taking a sip of her own.

“ You know.. There’s always taking a long walk around to get yourself tired.”

— “I ran out of sleeping pills. So I went off down here to the mess hall, thinking if there is anything that can replace my sleeping pills for a while. I never even think that I’ll come across of you” She said in her low voice while getting the glass of scotch from the raven-haired man.

“ Sleeping pills? Hmm.. I didn’t think of THAT remedy.” Instead of going against Aria’s method of forgetting nightmares, he seemed to relate to her even more. Besides, who was he to really tell her what to do?

“ Well.. Now you know a thing or two about me. Humanity’s strongest, drinking his nightmares away and hope a hangover would kill him the next day.”

— Nightmares. Aria is not unfamiliar with nightmares, for she has also a fair share of what Levi is experiencing right now. She, too, had lost a set of her squad during her time as a squad leader. She, too, became a prisoner of guilt until now. And every night, they never failed to leave her alone as she rocks herself to sleep, alone and in the dark.

“I also have a fair share of a so-called nightmare. Give me some of your scotch, I’ll accompany you.”

Her response and decision to drink with him boggled him. “ You wish to keep me company? I’d expect that you’d leave me alone even after forgiving me for saying that to you.” Still, he silently obliged and pulled up a glass, pouring the scotch for her.

— Aria blushed while he tried to apologize. She had to admit, it made her heart flutter for a bit. If he’s sincere then, maybe, just maybe, she will give him another chance to have access in her fragile heart.  “A-apologies accepted. But why are you making yourself wasted if it wasn’t for that rejection?”  

“Mmm..” Levi nodded, acknowledging and even relieved she accepted his apology. He shouldn’t have used Aria as a means to fill his voided heart from the loss of his previous lover.

She asked her question again, probably worried why he was drowning himself with alcohol.

“ To get rid of the nightmares..”

“What I mean is I’ve had to wait out here in the freezing cold for your sorry ass.” She grumbled, clearly not impressed with having to wait for Levi. She was shivering under her cloak and jacket.

“ It’s not my dumbass fault you decided to wait in the freezing cold without creating a bonfire or getting into shelter to warm yourself up.” Levi scoffed. “ So, what’s the briefing?”

—  “And then why are you trying to make yourself wasted?” Aria asked while her gaze deepens to the raven-haired man before her and continued in a matter-of-fact tone.” You know why I rejected you? It’s because you’re making me a second option when clearly I’m not. If you want a second-best option, find another.” 

“..” Levi took a moment to answer the blonde, looking up as if he was finding his answers there. He was deep in thought of what he just confessed to Aria, it was shameful of him, a disgrace of him to treat her like that.

Aria didn’t deserve them.

Closing his eyes, taking a deep breath and another swig of his drink. “ You’re not and I know that.. It was foolish of my to say that. You did not deserve that from the likes of me.”

“ I apologize..“

Aria suddenly barge in inside Levi's office without bothering to knock, in her fits of anger she yelled "What the fuck do you think you're doing, Levi?! Why did you scribble a fucking 'shit' on a legal documents even signing it with a name 'by your shiting corporal', really now?!"

Levi didn’t look at the blonde since he was too busy cleaning his windows. “Because the document is a fucking shit of a joke that’s why.” He responds and kept scrubbing his windows.

— “I would appreciate the humor if you didn’t do it on a legal document. Now I have to redo everything again because the higher ups keeps bugging me with this one.” Aria said sternly while sighing in defeat and motioned to sit down on the chair near his desk.

“Of all the papers you choose, you chose the one with utmost importance.”

Levi groaned, looking at her for a moment and just shook his head. He would pull out documents from his drawer then drops it carefully in front of her. On that document, it had the REAL documents she had him originally sign and it had his actual signature on it. Levi Ackerman.

“ You’ve been so uptight this week, I replaced your documents with this one hoping you’d get a laugh from it. Didn’t know you bitch about it this much. Here.” He slides it closer to her. “ These are the real documents, also, learn to reread your documents again after getting your corporal to sign it.” He points at the document she was holding.

“ Read it again, midget.”

“ That’s not really the only reason why I’m drowning myself with alcohol. If you think I’m drinking all because a short blonde woman rejected me, then you’re deadly wrong.” He scoffed, refusing to budge from his seat.
