lucy visibly bristled, “you didn’t do anything,” she answered tightly, only glancing up at the hufflepuff before glowering back down at the cauldron. it wasn’t that she was in a sour mood, it was corvus’ incompetence that was irritating—and she totally wasn’t pissed at him for getting all chummy with some bloody girl at the library.
“pass the lionfish spines, please.”
Corvus stared at her as if he did so then she’d break and tell him what the hell was going on inside her head because now he was irked. If he did something, he wanted to know what it was because he hated these stupid guessing games. There was a moment of silence before he reached for the vial and picked it up but before handing it to her, he decided to ask again.Â
“You’re lying.”Â
Corvus was glad that she had agreed to help him. He knew he needed help understanding the concept and what better than to ask one of the better ones in his Alchemy class. He was a bit reluctant to ask her but they had been having these study sessions for a while now and he didn’t quite know what to do to show her he’s thankful for what she was doing. “Hey-- weird question but.. why did you agree to helping me? I’m grateful, don’t get me wrong but just curious. I thought I might annoy you or something.”Â
thirty minutes had passed since they began brewing a pot of wiggenweld potion, but lucy remained persistently silent, only speaking when absolutely necessary. when corvus reached for the vial of flobberworm mucus, lucy scoffed in annoyance.
“you’re supposed to put in the lionfish spines next,” she said coolly, “read the bloody textbook.”
Corvus really didn’t understand why she was being much more snippy with him than usual. He hadn’t really spoken to her much since their return from Hogsmeade so if she had an issue with him, it was unknown to him what he did. He stopped before reaching the vial and made direct eye contact with her without faltering.Â
“Did I do something or did you just wake up on the wrong side of the bed today?”Â
Al sat perched upon a tree branch, staring idly at the sky. He’d found solace in trees ever since he was a little boy; they made him feel safe from all the worries of the world beneath him. He’d needed that escape a lot after the nightwalkers announcement. A gentle rustle called his attention down where a person walking nearby. “Hi,” he called out. “I don’t mind if you want to sit out here or anything. Just, you know, letting you know I’m up here. You’d be surprised how many people don’t notice someone sitting in a tree.”
Corvus stopped when he heard a voice and then looked up at the tree. He was surprised to see someone up there. Corvus couldn’t help but chuckle, “Oi, careful you don’t fall though.” He warned as he smiled up at him, “I was just walking by but you’re right-- I never would’ve saw you up there. You alright?”Â
Ever since the news in the Great Hall this morning Piper had been worried sick. Not only for who was missing but for the message, even after they tried to lessen the students concern she couldn’t avoid the feeling at pit of her stomach. She had spent a majority of the day in a daze and that didn’t change when she was sitting in the library trying to get work done. Not even realizing while she was spacing out that she was looking in someones direction. “Sorry…just got distracted for a moment.”Â
The library was the only place that Corvus tended to mind his tone and didn’t speak as loud. Out of respect of course but when the other Hufflepuff was staring at him a little too long, he couldn’t help but wonder what was going through her mind. Although.. he felt like he had a vague idea. Corvus offered a smile at the other, “For a moment? It seemed like you were staring for a good minute. You alright?”Â
noting the sigh, lucy didn’t know whether she should be pleased that they were finally going somewhere worthwhile or be remorseful for being such a buzzkill. how he still managed to stick around despite her attitude, lucy didn’t know. “every shop is infested with students,” she answered haughtily, closely trailing behind the male. “i’d much rather stay in the library and read than push and shove my way through crowds.”
“Well, yeah. That’s what this weekend is for. For interacting with people and actually trying to have fun.” He had to consistently remind himself that not everyone thrived off such a setting like he did with many people around him. He decided not to argue with her and instead then opened the door to the shop, “After you.”Â
“no, i’m not,” lucy answered stiffly, fighting back another eye-roll. corvus’ enthusiasm was incredibly exhausting, and with every shop that the hufflepuff dragged her into, the more drained she felt. “can we head to the quill shop, at least? i need to restock some school supplies.”
Corvus let out a dragged out sigh and then nodded. They always were on different levels and sometimes he wondered why he enjoyed her company so much and yet here he was still. Corvus shrugged and changed his direction to head to said shop, “Well, it’s a start. You’ve been complaining about every shop thus far.”Â

“Common. You’re going to tell me that you’re not having even a little bit of fun?” Corvus asked in disbelief. He was happy to be away from the school grounds and without any homework or worry for the rest of the weekend. “Tell you what. You can pick the next shop we go to.”
“It’s been five years and I still don’t understand the point of these,” Ruth said, turning the box of Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans over and over in her hands. “I mean, couldn’t they just make the nice flavours? Who wants vomit? Or earwax?”
“It’s probably more for the thrill of not knowing which one you’re going to get rather than the actual flavors. I personally don’t like them. In the muggle world they have jelly beans with only fruity flavors and those are a lot better.” He shrugged a shoulder, “Have you ever gotten a really nasty one?”
Is that CORVUS ABBOTT:! It’s so nice to see them back at Hogwarts! He is 17, and a HALF BLOOD  7th year HUFFLEPUFF and totally looks like the muggle LUKE PASQUALINO. They are known to be DEDICATED AND CORDIAL but also have a tendency to be INSECURE and TEMPERAMENTAL. There are whispers around the castle that in the unrest that is brewing they are SIDING WITH DUMBLEDORE’S ARMY. [OTHER INFO: He’d love to be in the dueling club please.]
