Found Feathers PSA

Just a quick reminder that any feathers you find outside that you want to use in your spellwork may need some cleaning/parasite removal to make them safe for you to have. There’s a great rundown on how to do that on this website that anyone using found feathers should keep in mind!

Water is not the best thing to use! Oil is what keeps feathers in good shape, and water may damage the feather. Corn starch and diatomaceous earth or trisodiumphosphate will kill the parasites, then place coconut oil (or another natural oil) on your fingers and preen them between your nails as if your index and thumb were a beak, going with the grain from the stem upwards. If you are using them for intention work I like to pass them over white sage smoke and then breath on them to charge. Parasites are a huge problem so don't forget to take the proper precautions! Feathers are very strong intermediaries between the physical realm and astral, as well as being an embodiment of air and spirit.

I love that sweet smell of decay that surrounds me in forests and woods. A kind of mulchy, deep, rich rot that has no connotation of death or ending, but rather of life and age. A sense of perpetual destruction and rebirth.
