My hottest take is that experimentation and fucking up are core to the experience of learning witchcraft (or learning anything in life). I scroll through witchtok in particular and see so many comments about witches requesting/only using spells crafted by other witches out of fear of screwing up and, honestly, if you don't experiment then your craft won't grow! I am hardly the first person to say this, but witchcraft isn't an organized religion. You can carve your own path as you see fit. You can practice traditional magic or folk magic or ceremonial magic or create your own, unique type of magic. The witches you look up to and admire likely got their start experimenting with their own spells and finding what works. Your fear of failure is holding you back. You are going to fail. You are going to craft spells that don't work or even backfire. It's okay, I promise. Record it. Alter the spell. Try again. Your spells don't all have to involve candles, jars, bags, or anything fancy. Be creative! You don't like using crystals or herbs? Don't use them. Figure something out. A spell can be anything as long as the intention is there. Go make a shitty spell.
