THE HOLD STEADY I made it to the Horseshoe Tavern to see some old friends and one of four sold out Hold Steady sets. Each night they played an album in its entirety. I was lucky enough to hear my favourite album; Boys and Girls in America from start to finish.
STEAM WHISTLE UNSIGNED 2 Steam Whistle Brewing and Buzz Records sponsored another unsigned event at the VibraFusion Lab where HSY, The Beverleys, I Smell Blood and Whoop-szo played. As usual the event was a ton of fun as those guys take good care of everyone. Check out a little gallery on their website.
THE STEREO DIVISION I shot some promotional photographs for a band called The Stereo Division a few weeks ago. They are super nice guys who are in the process of recording a full length LP.
MARCELLUS WALLACE TAKE IT HIGHER Towards the end of the summer, I had the opportunity to direct a music video for the band Marcellus Wallace. Always great working with them.

THE GRICKLE GRASS FESTIVAL 5
The Grickle Grass Fest celebrated its fifth year last month and I put together a small team of really great photographers to document the evening. Here are some highlights from the night, which featured performances by DJ Aaron, Misha Bower & Spencer Burton, Jennifer Castle, Wormwood, Serf Kanata, Absolutely Free, Walrus, and Zaki Ibrahim.
UP WITH ART 2014 Up With Art is an annual event to raise money for The Unity Project, an organization that provides emergency shelter, transitional housing and supports self-help for people who are struggling to escape and avoid homelessness. Artists and collectors of art donate pieces to be auctioned off, where the proceeds are used to support The Unity Project and related initiatives such as the Life Skills Program, which provides one-to-one and structured support in the areas of Health, Home, System and Employment. It came as a surprise when one of the committee members approached me to document the event, and it was an honor working with and meeting all the great people involved with the evening. NEW ZEBRA KID I did some work with Aaron, Greg, Jordan and Kelly from the band New Zebra Kid for their upcoming release of "Romantic Illusions." Their music has an awesome synth-electronica sound that that is both distinctly unique and very catchy. If you have not had the chance to listen their music, click here. It was a pleasure working with them.
SINGLE MOTHERS I think it has been a few years since I last saw single mothers play, which is hard to believe as they have one of the best live performances I've ever seen. A lot of things have changed for them since then but they continue to trek forward, breaking new ground with their aggressive and defined sound. Here are some photographs from their last hometown show at Call the Office.
THE PHOTOGRAPHERS PROJECT: HAZEN WILCOX Hazen Wilcox is a graphic designer and photographer based out of Toronto, Ontario. We share a lot of similar interests, mainly Photography and Metal Gear Solid. Lately he has been mixing his design skills finding new ways to present and publish his photo work and he has achieved some really awesome results. Hazen brought his Contax G2 rangefinder with Zeiss Planar 2/45. A lot of his work is shot through various 35mm point and shoot cameras, all of which have a common feature of high quality glass. His camera is one he has been chasing for some time, but it seems to represent his style as a photographer. Refined, and calculated with a unique perspective. TWO CROWN KING FINALE If you have been following my blog for a while, you will know that I’ve done a lot of work with the band Two Crown King. What started out as a hired gig in 2009 slowly turned into a really great friendship. I’ve been lucky enough to share a lot of highlights and experiences with the band over the years. When I heard that they decided to throw in the towel and move on to other projects, I was pretty shocked. I eventually decided to put together a retrospect of the 5 years of their time together as a band. Their final show was stellar, and I ended up selling out of the zines I made. A second print is on the way since I don’t even own a copy; so feel free to email me if you are interested in ordering one. Wishing these guys the best in all their future endeavors.
SO YOUNG After making waves with the their 7 song debut EP Secrets, we figured it was about time for So Young to come by my studio and have some photographs taken. They are solid musicians with cleaver hooks and rhythms. Be sure to check them out on tour as soon as the weather gets nicer.
MARCELLUS WALLACE I spent an evening with Marcellus Wallace shooting a bunch of material in preparation of their forthcoming debut album, website and related press material. Looking forward to the album release party.
THE PHOTOGRAPHERS PROJECT: MICHAEL BREWER Mike Brewer is a Graphic Designer working for a leading agency in town. He is one of those guys that seem to be naturally good at whatever it is he decides to pursue, whether it be music, design, photography or illustration. THE PHOTOGRAPHERS PROJECT: JUSTIN YONG Justin Yong is a really great culture and portrait photographer who works with a number of formats. I first met Justin when I bought a Speedlight off of him when he moved to town for school. Justin has pretty much abandoned digital and I admire him for that. Over the past couple of years we have been spending more time talking and working together and it has been really insightful. Justin brought his Polaroid 195 Land Camera that he purchased at a camera show a couple years ago. Since Fujifilm has discounted the FP-100b and FP-3000B this camera has been harder and harder to shoot with, leaving the color FP-100C pack as his only choice. Check out his work at dumbshithead.com.
CONGRATULATIONS CHRIS & LORI My good friend Christopher was recently married. I documented the intimate ceremony at the Elsie Perrin Williams estate. Hope they enjoy my take on the day.
