Finally got it confirmed with one of my moots!!
JORDAN!HESTER DEBUT TODAY!!!!!!!!
topologies - motoko
LISTEN: https://motokomusic.bandcamp.com/track/topologies
SOUNDS LIKE: soft electric groove, good for dancing in your bedroom
motoko is jordan pearson (halcyon, new zebra kid, political seance).
A- Age: 24
B- Biggest musical fear: I’ve already stomped on my glasses and destroyed them on stage during the first song of a set with my other band, Political Seance, so that’s out of the way. Besides that, probably releasing something in a haste like I usually do and then listening to it a couple days later only to think, “Holy shit this is really bad."
C- Current biggest inspiration: Three-way tie: Chris Marker, Yukihiro Takahashi, my mom.
D- Drink you last drank: Nespresso Lungo (TM)
E- Every day starts with: A sigh.
F- Favourite new release: The new Grimes and Floating Points records have been my favourites of November so far.
G- Ghosts, are they real?: I try to tell myself they’re not.
H- Hometown: I consider the toxic wasteland (in more ways than one) of Sarnia, Ontario, to be my hometown.
I- In love with: I’m afraid to answer this question honestly.
J- Jealous of: You! You talented, funny woman, you!
K- Killed someone in your dreams lately?: Only the cop in my head.
L- Last time you cried?: Before the last show I played I did something stupid and got in a fight with someone I really care about and cried in the alley outside the venue.
M- Middle name: Dale.
N- Number of shows you attended last month (be honest): Probably 5 or 6. I’m taking it easy these days. Shows are wonderful, but it can get taxing both emotionally, physically, and financially. It’s unfortunate because so much of my social circle is tied up in these events, and there’s an aspect of covering your friends’ rent or beer money every month by going to their shows. But you have to take care of yourself, you know?
O- One wish: To end capitalism.
P- Person you last spoke to: My editor, Matt Braga. Hi, Matt!
Q- Question you're always asked: Where I work. Why are we always asking each other that? What shit.
R- Reason to smile: I foolishly believe that love is real.
S- Song last sang: Does humming to myself count? “All the World Loves Lovers” by Prefab Sprout.
T- Touring plans?: I’ll be playing a few shows with my friends in Zones this weekend. They’re great! It should be fun. I try not to have a plan or a strategy with this sort of stuff. If someone wants to do a string of shows and it sounds fun, I’m in.
U- Underwear color: Mint green ;)
V- Vacation destination: In my bed, in my head.
W- Worst habit: Smoking.
Y- Your favorite food: A Colombian dish that my mother makes, and has made for my whole life: Slow-cooked brisket with white rice, papas criollas, and fried plantains.
X- X-Rays you've had: Just my teeth.
Z- Zodiac sign: I’m such a Gemini.
Dozens of American Airlines flights in Dallas, New York City, and Chicago, experienced unexpected delays yesterday when pilots’ iPads unexpectedly crashed. The reason for the widespread crashes was a buggy update to the app that pilots use for everything from flight planning to checking the weather.
I was eager to try out Ello, a new social network that has positioned itself as an anti-corporate alternative to the status quo with the rebel cry of “You are not a product.”
I got myself an invite and started creating content like the dutiful millennial that I am, and, while Ello is a lot of fun and certainly holds promise, a dive into the company's policies left me wondering if what it's promised is all that different from the big guys.
My first impression of Ello was a palpable sense of opportunity. Ello is basically the Wild West of social networks right now, as people slowly join and figure out how to use it.
Original post on Ello’s privacy problems and further updates.
NEW ZEBRA KID I did some work with Aaron, Greg, Jordan and Kelly from the band New Zebra Kid for their upcoming release of "Romantic Illusions." Their music has an awesome synth-electronica sound that that is both distinctly unique and very catchy. If you have not had the chance to listen their music, click here. It was a pleasure working with them.
