          love is not a weakness to her, but rather something to be feared, a sort of desolation welcomed with open arms. she knows she is capable of it (and it has happened, contrary to his belief) and could offer him the same - the rejection of love causes her an immense guilt. love is no weakness; guilt, however, is the most fallible.

          deeply psychological reasons aside, his personality irks her in ways he might never understand. he represents a perfect foil, the pompous knight on a black steed, clad in armor too heavy for herself; she is mistakenly his opposite, derived of the things he was handed. envy, guilt, and frustration bleeds its way out of her teeth when they speak.

          damaged, jealous, vindictive. her flaws greatly outnumber the perfections she falsely maintains. he’s a bitter reminder of the truth she tries to obscure to the world with sweet grins and sweeter wine, and the integrity of his brutal honesty irritates her. he also poses as intellectual competition, which is generally something that sparks a significant interest, but his dry and concise attitude worsens the appeal.

          flavia’s entire personality is built on a purposeful facade of lies and deceit, so his straightforwardness is a burden.
