☆ you make me feel like a fool.
pairing: chuuya nakahara x gn!reader
genre/warnings: light angst, fluff
Lately, the apartment has been quieter than usual. It wasn’t usually loud or anything, but the company of your boyfriend helped. He hasn’t been home for a while, which worries you. He had said he was going out for errands and it’s nearing 2am.
Normally, this would cause you to panic but with his job, he could always be needed. Chuuya was never one to back out of a fight either. It’s just a bit disappointing since this was his first off day in almost a month.
You sigh for the nth time today, deciding to take a hot shower and wash the thoughts away. Worrying would do nothing but cause doubts, and you’ve spoken to Chuuya about said doubts before. You’re more understanding of his responsibility as a mafia member now.
“All I ask is for you to tell me things! Not your life story!” You yelled, emotions exploding after being bottled up.
“If I could tell you, I would. This is to keep you safe!” He argued, patience wearing thin.
“I’m not trying to pry for details, but you disappear for days on end with no communication! I thought it was something I could get used to-”
That was your guys’ first big fight, which lead to a month break between the two of you. This relationship was new to both of you, especially when it took a more serious turn. There was so much to talk about when crossing this new line, but it’s as if he never had the time which, over time, built up into pent-up emotions and snapped.
After the break, you had accidentally ran into him at a cafe. As it turns out, he was getting you a coffee to speak to you. The next couple of hours were spent in the corner of the cafe, discussing what this meant for you guys and if you were going to try again.
Everything became good again, even better you could say. But moments like these scare you, it brings back the thoughts that maybe nothing had changed and you’ve been blinded by the love you had for him once again.
Getting out of the shower, steam clouding the mirror. Making your way to the closet, you inspect each long sleeve and try to see which one will keep you warm.
It was then that you were hit with a sudden memory.
“You have a ton of clothes for someone who chooses to wear the same attire every day.” You tease, eyeing him on his bed.
Rolling his eyes, “Some of us have fashion and know how to dress on their off-days.”
“Excuse me, I know how to dress!” Offended, you grab a random shirt and throw it at him.
Raising his hands in mock surrender, “Hey, never said you didn’t. You just have.. little range.”
“Come for my taste in clothes again and I’ll throw your hats out.”
“WOAH! No need to be aggressive!” Laughing at his retort, you continue to fit your clothes into his closet.
You moved in with him shortly after you decided to give your relationship another go. He claimed that his house was “safer” than yours. Little does he know, anywhere is safe as long as he’s around.
Being so caught up in the memory, you didn’t realize someone was behind you.
You had just punched your boyfriend. Good job on punching the Chuuya Nakahara.
“Don’t sneak up on me idiot!”
“I wasn’t trying to!” He defends, covering his face with one of his hands.
You try to move past him into the kitchen, but he pulls you back with his free hand. “I’m so sorry, let me get some ice.”
“Maybe put on a shirt first.” He eyes your chest and you look down, forgetting you’re just in a towel and a sweater in hand.
“It’s not like it’s your first time seeing me shirtless.” He turns red at that, vein-popping from his neck.
“Whatever! I grab us take out and I get punched by my partner, then called a virgin!” He huffs into the living room where you soon met up with him.
Sitting next to him on the couch, you curl up until your head is on his chest and you’re practically on his lap. He allows it to happen, missing you much more than you believe.
It’s quiet for a while, the only noise being your soft breaths and the humming of the fan.
“I’m sorry for not letting you know, it was very chaotic and I couldn’t catch a break until the fight was over.” Now that you’re up close, you notice his hair is messy, the small scratches on his face and how he smells like smoke and dust.
Guilt eats at you, here you are being mad when he had to work in his off day. He must be exhausted.
“Would you like to take a shower? You seem like you need one.” You offer, hoping to help him decompress from his eventful night.
Without another word, he follows you into the bathroom and expects you to stay.
“But, I just showered?” Your answer forms a pout on his face and it’s hard to not feel bad. Especially with how tired his eyes look, he honestly looks like he’s about to cry.
Nodding, you help unclothe him while he helps you take off your, his, sweater. He smiles at that, loving when you wear his things. Although he’ll never outright ask you to wear his clothes, he’ll just shove his jacket into your hands or put it around your shoulders.
It was refreshing, intimate. To be so open and close with the person you love after the exhausting cycle of never knowing when he’s going to be home. Chuuya seems to be so content, his face is relaxed and his eyes shut.
This man made you feel like a complete and utter fool sometimes. Waiting around for hours was something you never thought you’d do for anyone. But you guess if it was for Chuuya, you’d manage.
“You didn’t have to apologize, by the way. I understand your line of work is demanding. It’s quite literally “expecting the unexpected.”” He laughs at that, which gives you some relief.
Chuuya sighs, eyes looking away from you, “I just don’t want to lose you again.”
Gently cupping his face to grab his attention, you smile at the worry and concern on his face, it shows that he still thinks of you and that he’s trying.
“You won’t lose me. Not this time, not ever.”
You’re a lovesick fool, but if it’s for him, then it’s okay.
