MAC Soft Serve Eyeshadow Swatches
Here’s a really quick post with swatches from 10 shades in the MAC Soft Serve eyeshadow collection. Now these bounch creams do remind me a little (a lot) of Chanel Illusion d’Ombres and Dior Fusion Monos in overall look.
Application and pay-off wise, they are probably closer to the Diors, and not as pigmented or as multi-dimensional as some of the Chanels tend to be. Then again, they are US$22 - you can’t really complain about the difference in pigments. (Pricing and launch dates to be advised in Singapore.)
I did have fun layering several of them together for the eye look above, and I only used my fingers; no brushes. As you can see the effect is pretty subtle.
Inner half of lids - Girls’Girls!
Outer half of lids - Put Me To Shame
Socket line - Quite Yummy
Brow bone - So so saucy
Outer corners and lower lash line - Softened Up
Inner corners / tear duct - Big Bad Blue
Lasting-power wise, I will say they work just as well as any other bouncy shadow, and they layer beautifully. I always find it a shame to layer powder shadows over some of the sparkly shades because you lose the effect a bit, but you CAN use them as eye shadow bases. One good thing about this type of formula is that even as they get dried out over time (and they all will), the formula stays pliable and usable for a long time compared to the usual waxy pots of cream shadows with a hard texture, which become rock-solid and stop working.
If you’ve always been fascinated by those expensive bouncy cream shadows but never splashed out on them because it seems like too much money for too little product, you might find the MAC ones worth a look.
