Makeup Geek Eyeshadows (Duochrome set minus Steampunk) 

Packaging;

When they arrived, they were tightly packed in the box. Surrounded by packing peanuts, the wrapped with bubble wrap, and stacked and tied tight with string. There certainly wasn’t going to be any movement during shipping! Much better than Sephora’s packing. 

 Smell; 

Pressed powder. I personally don’t smell anything at all. 

Colour;

All of the colours that come in the Duo Chrome set, are stunning. I’m not a fan of Steampunk so I ended up giving it to a friend, who in turn gave me two of the doubles she had. (Those are the matte colours in the photos). I personally prefer lighter/pastel colours to dark, but theres always a time for dark colours as well. Let’s get to pigmentation. These photos don’t do them justice. They’re so pigmented it’s crazy. You’re paying $6.99USD for a single shadow and in my opinion it’s better quality than MAC. I found I only needed a small amount on my finger, for the colour to show up. 

Formula; 

They must be doing something right! They’re so soft and buttery! Those two matte shades are a little more coarse, mind you but still soft. 

Overall Thoughts;

If you’re thinking about buying Makeup Geek, the answer is yes. Not only is the product itself fantastic, the owner Marlena will reach out and talk to her customers. Very great customer service, wonderful products and a fabulous price point. Makeup Geek definitely knows what their doing!

Becca x Jaclyn Hill Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop

It’s hard to break up the review in sections on this one, so I’m going to just type it out.

This highlighter has been high demand since it’s release on July 3rd. It’s a collaboration with YouTuber Jaclyn Hill. Now, if you’ve ever seen Jaclyn’s face ever you’ll note her highlight is in a constant state of fleek, This highlighter is very gold toned, but not too bronzing. I’m NC15 and this doesn’t over-power my face. In saying that, of course if you are willing you can use a fan brush and get a small amount of glittery goodness. 

It’s packaging feels sturdy. It’s got a decent size mirror, the metal on the outside, definitely does not feel cheap. In saying that, this highlighter also comes with a $46 price tag. If you’re new to highlighting, maybe this isn’t your beginner type product. 

Definitely worth a swatch though!

Laneige Water sleeping mask & Water bank moisture cream

Packaging;

The ones pictured are samples. That being said, the packaging definitely feels like a sample. The lid is cheap on the mask, and its a standard tube for the moisturizer. 

Smell;

This is a hard one to describe. The scent is supposed to be calming. Especially the mask. The idea is that you sniff the mask for a few minutes before you put it on your face. It’s meant to relax you. To me it smells like floral scented cosmetics. I mean, it is distinct, but it’s not awful if that means anything. The moisturizer has the same scent but not as strong. Once you’ve rubbed it into your face, you really can’t smell it.

Colour;

It’s a white cream.

Formula; 

The mask is like a gel/lotion. The moisturizer feels like a thick lotion.

Results;

I started with the mask, as I was referred to it from a wonderful friend. I woke up feeling like my face was pretty quenched, so I thought I’d give the rest of the set a try. As I used the mask more, the more I liked it. With sleeping masks, they’re hit and miss. I tried a Sephora Green Tea Sleeping Mask. Whoa man did my face feel sticky. I also woke up with zero results. The Laneige seemed to be relatively hydrating! It sunk into my skin so I wasn’t sticky to the pillow while I slept.

The Moisturizer is my favourite so far out of the system. (Not pictured is the Water bank serum as well as the Exfoliating cleanser.) It really hydrates without over-saturating. It sinks into your skin pretty quickly. It also makes my face feel like a baby’s bottom. 

Overall thoughts;

Great investment. It’s not as expensive as a lot of other skin care brands can be. They have sample sets for 15$ if you wanna give it a shot!

Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in Lolita.

Packaging;

To me, the price you’re paying for this lipstick is a bit much for the light plastic casing. Very frequently I find that when I go to grab it out of my bag, the lid has already fallen into a netherworld. There is not audible or physical click into place like most lipsticks have.

Smell;

Similar to Mac lipsticks, to me this is a very light vanilla scent. Completely disappears once it’s on the lips. 

Colour;

Warm reddish-brown tone can compliment nearly any skin colour. I personally have NC15, so I’m quite on the ghostly side. On me it shows quite a bit deeper red than say a yellow based skin tone. All in all, a very versatile colour that can be used for a function or a regular basis.

Formula;

Honestly it’s a matte lipstick so it does what its supposed to. Make sure your lips are well moisturized before using or they’ll chap and peel. 

Overall thoughts;

It’s a great shade with an alright formula. A cheaper brand out of the mid-range makeup brands. A great fall colour. I love it!
