It’s 2016 and I honest to God can not believe I have to make a post about this but after some prior events I guess I have to and this is mostly directed at the anime/manga roleplay communities who play canon characters and not oc’s;
Stop using KPop stars for your Japanese muses. Stop using Jpop stars for your Chinese muses. Stop using Asian faceclaims that are not the proper ethnicity for your current muses, I can not stress this enough this is not only disrespectful as hell but it is also racist as hell too.
Asian ethnicities are not interchangeable.
Asian ethnicities are not interchangeable and to sit there and think that you’re slick because you’re roleplaying an animated character is gross.
Stop race washing your muses, while using the excuse of playing an animated character who is OBVIOUSLY JAPANESE/KOREAN/CHINESE. You are not slick, your actions are clear as day and your actions are racist.
Stop racewashing your muses when their race has already been decided.
The character is not yours to do so to begin with.
There is a huge difference between the portrayal of a canon character that you play, and erasing the color of their skin to fit your ‘aesthetic needs’. These are CANON characters you are playing, and you have no right to erase their nationality.

The canon character you are playing is a Chinese girl. The current faceclaim you are using is a South Korean woman.
There is a major difference between portayal of a character, and blatant racism. Chinese and Korean are two different nationalities.
To use a Korean FC for a CHINESE PERSON is DISRESPECTFUL AS HELL. I do not know how else I can explain this to you as simply and as blunt as possible. It’s disrespectful.
It’s disrespectful and racist.
It’s racist.
I honestly do not care just how many Chinese or of Asian descent friends you have. That does not excuse you from being wrong about what you’re doing. The first few anons were being nice, and even EXPLAINED to you that it is RACIST. And yet, you put on your magnified glasses and read between the lines. Please get your ass out of your head and listen to what someone is telling you.
This is racist.
This is disrespectful.
She is a CANON CHARACTER, and you have NO RIGHT to erase her nationality for your own Aesthetic needs.
@Bvtterflyy: your muse is Chinese, but your FC is Korean???
You said that you know what a racist is, and you say that you’re not one. Okay, that’s fine, but please can you at least answer me this:
Why??? Are you using a Korean woman as your Chinese muses fc?
I’m sorry but I’m still trying to wrap my head around the whole thing because honestly I am still baffled by the fact that you and other’s are defending this like it’s an okay thing for you to do?
You being fond of a FC does not nor will it ever excuse you for using a Korean fc for a character who is CHINESE IN CANON. Am I in the twilight zone. Did I trip over my coffee table and bump my head so damn hard that I am now dreaming of an ugly biased wonderland?
edit: you have a lot of fucking nerve to sit there and reblog something as UGLY as this after making some kind of post trying to let everyone know you’re not this gross racist with NO respect for Asian culture or their ethnicity.
Race is not interchangeable to fit your needs. It does not work like that.
You can sit on your ass with your fingers in your ears for all eternity but if you think I’m going to fucking sit here and let this shit go? You must have lost your God damn mind.

“I know what racist is, and I know that I am not one. I love the woman who I am using as Lenalee’s face claim and I love Lenalee’s ethnicity.”
I repeat; Then why are you using a Korean woman for her faceclaim. Lenalee is Chinese. That is not showing Leenalee the love she deserves, that girl is CHINESE but you are using a KOREAN WOMAN to represent an image of her.
That in it’self is disrespectful and ugly, and it’s a damn shame you had to sit there and lie through your two front teeth like it was going out of style. There are a number of Chinese actresses and models you could have chosen– hell, you didn’t even need a faceclaim in the first place. But instead of doing that, you literally just disregarded Lenalee’s ethnicity, and picked out your fave Kpop girl all because??? You liked her? That in itself is disrespectful to not only the character but to the girl you claim to like so much as well. You can scream that you’re not a racist until the paint starts to chip off the walls but your actions are speaking louder than your words ever could right now.
You were told that it’s not good to use a Korean woman as a faceclaim for a Chinese muse, you even contradicted yourself in one of those asks so please can you tell me what that’s all about I am now a hundred percent curious and eager to see that explanation, like, I’m waiting. ScreenShotsHere: (X), (X), (X).
You even swerved the response to the last one too, like that take’s some grade A skills right there. Response Here: (X)
First off, let’s address the first screenshot: I actually tried to be reasonable, everyone fucks up and don’t necessarily understand when they’re doing something a disrespectful and you know what that’s okay, I understand that. But the thing is, it looks to me like you understand what you’re being called out on, but at the same time you’re acting oblivious to it.
“It does become frustrating when people get the mindset of ‘oh they look asian in general so it should be fine’ but while that is true, I feel it would be different for me if I denied or was ignorant to their different races.” — words that came out of your mouth.
Then whats your excuse for using Ji Eun as your faceclaim? You just admited to the fact that it’s a frustrating mindset that people think all Asians look alike but. For some reason you still a get a pass on this because you’re aware she’s Chinese and your FC is Korean? Is that what I’m reading here? Because that’s what it looks like you just said.
You just said that you are fully aware of the problem, and that you are also fully aware that your muse is canonly a Chinese girl. But. You continue to use the Korean FC like it’s not a big deal, like you get some kind of pass on the situation as if you aren’t keeping up that mentality you claim to understand. This is a CANON character and you have no right to erase her ethnicity all for the sake of ‘KPop Aesthetic’. To quote that second screenshot; “K-Stars are dehumanized enough.” so for you to sit there and disregard this KStar’s Ethnicity, and use her to play a CHINESE GIRL, is so disrespectful, and paints you in a real bad light.
And then when you IM’d me, even THAT became a god damn MESS: (X). Not ONLY did you try to suggest at the fact that just because you’re a person of color yourself as if it’ll be some kind of shield to your actions, but you have some God damned nerve to call me thin skinned as if to chalk up my words to you as being little, and insignificant, and not of your concern. Like you had just degraded this entire issue at hand and chalked it up as me being sensitive. Like I was taking a critique the wrong way, or that I was letting some childish insult get to me. All because I told you that it’s rude/disrespectful and straight up fucking racist to use a Korean girl to play a canonly Chinese girl. This isn’t about me being sensitive, this about you ignoring someones ethnicity all because you want that golden KPOP STAR aesthetic. I need you to stop talking to your small intestines for one second to see the words I’m typing up right now because your reasoning is not only ridiculous, but you refuse to address that you’re being kind of gross.
But if it’s really that hard to understand then let me just repeat what I said in another post because I feel like I need to break it down to you piece by piece in case you didn’t catch what I was saying already;
The canon character you are playing is a Chinese girl. The current faceclaim you are using is a South Korean woman.
There is a major difference between portrayal of a character, and blatant racism. Chinese and Korean are two different nationalities. You can not change a characters race when when it is convenient for you.
lmao they fucking blocked me ofc they would no one wants to sit here and admit when they do something shitty but what else would you expect from someone who sits there talking politics with their lower intestines 24/7.
The canon character you are playing is a Chinese girl. The current faceclaim you are using is a South Korean woman.

You completely missed everything I said. You're ignoring the fact that you're being racist right now. You're ignoring that fact that by using a KOREAN for a CHINESE muse is ignoring their races, it's dehumanizing Ji Eun. It's not okay. You're literally erasing her ethnicity and saying it doesn't matter by not finding a Chinese fc. trust me, there are a tone of fc's you could have picked.
☁︎ - Did you miss everything I’ve said?
I am allowed to portray Lenalee however I want to. I am in no way erasing her or Ji Eun’s race? I honestly feel like you are reading way too far into this and usually, face claims are used because of their facial similarities and not even their race? I never said things like ‘oh she looks more _____’
Roleplaying is a safe place to create a character and portray them however you wish to! Hence, headcanons. I do not appreciate multiple people coming into my ask, on my blog which apparently offends them so much and telling me to change how I portray my character.
Her race doesn’t even come into the things I roleplay much and while I will admit I understand how you or others could be offended, and I am sorry for that, but again, this is my blog and are ultimately are my decisions.
I have been seeing everything you’ve said. I wasn’t even the first or second anon to message you. They were being nice, trying to help you realize how wrong it is to use someone of another ethnicity as an fc. You say you have the right to portray your muse as you want, and yes. you do, but NOT when it comes to a real life face claim. WE’RE TALKING ABOUT REAL PEOPLE. This is not about ‘how you portray your character’ I could care less if you made Lenalee into a fairy princess for an AU. I’m talking to you about Ji Eun, who is a real life women, not a made up character.
I don’t care if you changed Lenalee’s hair color, or what clothing she wears. Lenalee is a made up character from an Anime who’s ethnicity is Chinese. CHINESE. I don’t know if you’ve been taught this before but Chinese people look different from Korean and Japanese and Italian and all other ethnicity, because THEY ARE NOT THE SAME ETHNICITY. You can not use a Korean or Taiwanese person for a muse that is CANON Chinese.
Also, let me draw your attention to something you said. SINCE. you seem to think I haven’t been paying. “ face claims are used because of their facial similarities and not even their race? “ LMAO. So you just said this, right? You know what this is saying? Korean people and Chinese people look the exact same so all Asians must look the same. Do you know how horribly disgusting that is. ALSO. “ you are reading way too far into this “ You bet your ass I’m into this. K-stars and J-stars, and C-stars all get horribly dehumanized as it is. The idol industry feeds of making these people seem less human and here you are ignoring one’s ethnicity just so you can be comfortable rping. How utterly amazing. I can’t believe how racist and insensitive you are being right now.
While, yes I do want you to be able to have fun and feel comfortable on your blog. I understand this being a safe space. I do not want that safe space to come at the price of someone else. Ji Eun does not deserve to have her ethnicity ignored.
“I am allowed to portray Lenalee however I want to. I am in no way erasing her or Ji Eun’s race?”
There’s a huge ass difference between portraying a character some kind of way and erasing this canon characters ethnicity with a IRL FC OF ANOTHER HUMAN BEING.
The Phoenix was not meant to feel. It was not meant to understand or hold any value of humanity && morals. Rage was to be foreign && mirth non-existent. Cold, calculating, filled with philosophy && wisdom the phoenix was supposed to be a guardian. Nothing more than a guide to the lost && a judgement scale built on possibilities && hypotheses, the Phoenix was not supposed to hold onto joy. Or brighten itself around excitement, feel the pit expand inside of its ugly mimicry of a humans abdomen--- it was not supposed to coil around the sharp adrenaline rush of fury && vexation. None of this, is what the void had intended.
She has given up on that thin thread people like to call ‘faith’. Trapped within the containment of her own thoughts, she cradles herself within her mind && lets her bitterness boil && turn into something ugly. The accident was nothing but a blur to her, a bad dream that she now has to suffer from. An accident that was not her fault, yet some how she was the one to end up not feeling anything from the neck down && he was the one to walk away with a lawsuit && bruises.
It calls to her, hushed, but at the same time it speaks with VOLUME. Humming that could be easily mistaken for corrupted whispers flood her mind && threaten to smother her in its hazy static. She can not move towards it, neither hide nor run away from it, she has no choice but surrender && pay heed to its calls.
What do you want? it coo’s
She hesitates, but answers finally;
‘ anything but this ‘
&& that’s all it needs to hear.
A few info bulletins;;
The Phoenix force has taken over the body of an average human female who does’t even hold psychic abilities.
The Phoenix is currently burning this body from the inside out as it has done with many past animal hosts, expect this one is lasting on a bit longer.
The Phoenix will still remain an ‘it’, again you can call it a she if you want to considering its new body of choice but again the Phoenix still remains genderless.
The current host for the Phoenix is still alive and is fighting for mental will again.
It is anything but kind, && it is anything but understanding. It was an emotional force of pent up emotions that has aged for decades like a bitter wine. Because there is nothing FINE about this God forsaken creature, nothing fancy or desirable about this creature made up of unhinged emotions. Unstable && unpredictable it acts with impulse && rarely thinks itself through.
Knowledge is useless unless it is controlled.
its composure, once bent and CROOKED, had been shifted only slightly so that it may get a better look at his work. Leaving a trail of dirt && gore on the wooden surface of his desk, stepping over && on papers without so much a care of what it ruins or how much importance it all had.
Its position shifted in sharp, quick movements, no longer resting its r o t t i n g body made of stolen goods on its brittle oak perch, but now stands tall && looms over whatever height it had over the boy.
Humans were so interesting,
fragile, soft, tender things that needed to be held with delicate fingers && molded by a nurturing touch. Children were always mysteries to the entity, never understanding them COMPLETELY, or the idea as of why they are so desired by both man && woman. But give it credit for it tries- perhaps not hard enough- but it tries. It’s head tilts to it’s side && it bobs slightly.
