Starter for: Sebastian & Phoenix @cosmicvesper Location: Main Street
With his hands in his pockets, Sebastian was minding his own business as he walked down the sidewalk. As he was about to turn down a side street he had caught a glimpse of something falling out of someone's pocket. The individual that lost the item seemed to have not notice and they were continuing their way down the street. Sebastian ran after the item that was dropped before someone else was going to pick it up and steal it. He then wiped it off with his hands and approached the individual who had dropped it. "Excuse me I think you dropped this." Sebastian spoke out as he tapped on their shoulder.
ββΊο½‘ΛβΛβ§ββ½ β β―β βΎββ§ΛβΛqβΊβ πππππ πππ πππ ππππ ππ ππ starting off right, and Phoenix is coming to realize that. First, his favourite pair of socks were nowhere to be found in his sock pile so he had to settle for another pair. Then, he burnt his toast. Not wanting to waste any more time with his obviously failed breakfast, he tosses both slices into the bin and headed out of his apartment. It also didnβt help that he was running late for the appointment with his new client. A new client! Talk about good first impressions.Β
And now this.
Phoenix turns to face the stranger, looking at him in confusion. The stranger who seems to haveβ¦ his wallet in his hand. Quickly reaching behind to pat at the back pocket of his jeans, Phoenix immediately notices the very apparent emptiness and feels his heart stop beating for a few seconds. βThatβsββ He reaches out for the wallet and inspects it. Sure enough, there were initials of his name engraved at the bottom corner and a family picture during their trip to Monaco five years ago sitting perfectly in its holder. βShit. Thank you. Really. God, I canβt thank you enough. Can I please buy you something? Lunch perhaps?β He presses both of his palms together with a pleading look on his face. βPlease allow me. I insist.β βΊβ
Natalie hadn't really frequented any of the bars in Ennora yet. There was always something she needed to handle, or she was just tired of the day on Friday evening, and would go back to the two-bedroom apartment she was renting and cuddle the pillows in bed, watching something on her laptop to turn off her brain just for a bit.
And, of course, she was stumbling straight into an event that required a group... or at least one partner. Thankfully, she noticed another table with a single contestant, and just before the host started talking, she asked if she could join.
"I am, but I'm not sure if I'll be any good with movie questions," she offered, moving her bottle of beer left and right. The enthusiasm was almost contagious. And the number of people in here tonight made her feel like she was back home with the bustle. "I will do my best to help you win, promise. But... don't hold it against me too much if we fail, please. I promise, there are some topics I'm a pro at."
ββΊο½‘ΛβΛβ§ββ½ β β―β βΎββ§ΛβΛqβΊβ πππ ππππ π ππ ππππ ππππ ππππππ like these is that you donβt really know what to expect. Itβs like opening a Kinder Surprise. His companion for the evening wasnβt quite the movie-holic. So what? No problem. Quickly chirping in, he assures her in a mild playful manner, βNo, I got you. Iβm a pop culture king. Youβll be in good hands.β Glancing at Natalie, a soft laugh of amusement leaves his lips. God, he was really out here putting his partner in a spot, wasnβt he? βOh, no. Is the pressure finally getting to you now? Iβm kidding. Hey, letβs just focus on having fun, okay? Iβm no sore loser.β He finishes his sentence in a whisper, βIf we did lose tonight, that is.β
The host steps up to the front once more to remind everyone that there would be twenty questions in total and only twenty seconds for discussion. βBeing quick to raise our hands is important but getting the right answer is whatβs worth.β Phoenix notes to himself, lightly snapping his fingers.Β
βIs everybody ready? Here comes our first question. What is the main ingredient in hummus?β
Phoenix immediately casts his gaze at Natalie and leans closer in excitement, βThat has to be chickpeas. Right? God, suddenly Iβm craving for a plate of hummus and pita.β βΊβ
β HOOKED AGAIN β @hllboymglds β THE NUG & MUG β OLD MILL DISTRICT
ββΊο½‘ΛβΛβ§ββ½ β β―β βΎββ§ΛβΛqβΊβ ππ πππ π ππππ ππππππ ππππ afternoon nap, Phoenix finds himself exploring around the Old Mill district to appease that rumbling stomach of his. Along the way, he stops to indulge in a hotdog from one of the stands before heading to the coffee shop. He ultimately settles at a table by the window with a cup of hot chocolate and a slice of strawberry cheesecake.Β
Then, the area starts to get crowded within the next half an hour with different patrons moving in and out or just looking for a vacant table to occupy. After a bit of contemplation, Phoenix decides to call out to the guy in front with an offer to share the table, βHey, I have a spot here if youβd like?β He takes a quick glance around before asking, βDoes it usually get very busy in here?β βΊβ

β BE MY BLIND VALENTINE β @smalltownsapphicsx β CENTER CITY DINER β DOWNTOWN
ββΊο½‘ΛβΛβ§ββ½ β β―β βΎββ§ΛβΛqβΊβ πππππ ππππ πππ πππ πππππ but whatβs the harm in meeting some new people when heβs new in town? Besides, as sappy and commercialized as Valentines Day is, Phoenix thinks he could take the evening to relax and unwind.
Gazing at his date, he allows the corners of his lips to lift, cracking a smile which came off more bashful than confident instead. βSo Iβve seen you around a couple of times. Itβs honestly hard to not notice you.β He brings the glass of wine to his lips for a few sips. βAnd Iβm saying that as a very good thing so donβt you think otherwise.β He make sure to assure her before setting down his glass. βSooo... what do you do, Chaz? Iβm guessing fitness trainer but I might be wrong.β He leans in and inquires out of curiosity.Β βΊβ
Rowan glanced up from the drink menu he had been half-absently flipping between his fingers, blue eyes flitting to Phoenix. An amused smile curved across his mouth as he let out a quiet laugh. "Oh wow. No pressure or anything." He leaned back in his chair, stretching his arms briefly before resting one against the back of it, the noise and warmth of the bar relaxing him. "I'm very good at extremely specific, mostly useless facts. Old movies, random local history, weird animal stuff... fire safety, obviously," he admitted. "But if they ask about, like⦠quantum physics then we're absolutely doomed. Unless that's something you know a lot about."
His gaze dropped briefly to Phoenixβs drink, then lifted his own beer in a small mock-toast. "I do respect the passion and commitment. I'm pretty sure I have about twenty of those t-shirts from over the years, unworn, so if we lose and you still want one, I'm sure I can dig one out for you." Rowan was naturally competitive, so he had trouble turning down any opportunity to win. "Okay, Iβm in. But if we don't win I'm blaming you for believing in us too much," he teased lightheartedly. "What are your trivia strengths?"
ββΊο½‘ΛβΛβ§ββ½ β β―β βΎββ§ΛβΛqβΊβ ππ πππππ ππ π ππππ π ππππππ ππππ but fails anyway when the corner of his lips start curving upwards. βI donβt know~β He starts off with a sing-song voice before shrugging his shoulders in a playful manner. βYou seem like the sort who does amazing under pressure.β Then he pauses for a few seconds before leaning in close, βUnless I was wrong to assume that?β Pulling away with yet another cheeky grin, he nods his head in acknowledgement of the otherβs words. βAlright, impressive as hell. I'm sold. Now if there is going to be something on quantum physics, there will only be one. Itβs fine, we can lose a point.β
Phoenix is quick to flash a smile at the toast. βI think if we win this, Iβd still want one of those t-shirts from you.β The enthusiasm coming off from the other was evident and it makes him just as fired up. βHey, there can never be too much believing-in-us. If we did lose, itβs probably because this trivia nightβs rigged.β He was obviously joking and would never act like a sore loser, a big party pooper. βRight, I would be pretty okay with ice hockey andβ¦ pop culture, maybe? And really random facts like octopuses having blue blood and three hearts.βΒ
The host steps up again and breaks the chatter in the room to remind everyone once more that there will be twenty rounds in total and a maximum of fifteen seconds for discussion. Phoenix takes this chance to slip in a remark, βI hope theyβll have ten questions of fire safety and ten questions of ice hockey. All shuffled, of course.β He scratches the side of his head, feigning ditziness.Β
βGet ready, this is your first question, everyone! What are the three distinct flavours used to make Neapolitan ice cream?β
Getting the right answer was obviously important but being the first to answer was the real challenge. Phoenix immediately turns to Rowan with a whisper, βThatβsβ¦ Vanilla, Strawberry and Chocolate. Yes?β βΊβ
Funnily enough, this was Minho's first trivia night too. Ennora held a lot of firsts for Minho, who otherwise had a lifetime's worth of nothing but duties and work behind them. Even if they loved what they did for a living, no person was a machine, and sometimes it was very much needed to just unwind and have... fun. Beyond what fun one could find in work, that is.
What made this trivia night even more interesting was that the teams and pairs put together were made by the luck of the draw, completely randomized according to table seats. Even though Minho was separated from their original company because of it, they were perfectly happy about it, for now they had a chance to meet someone new and pleasant to spend the rest of this trivia night with until a winner was determined.
Beaming a bright smile at the other person, his obvious excitement contagious and amplifying Minho's own, they nodded their head vigorously, making themself appear very confident in their response. "Yes, I am very good!" They actually didn't know if they were, the explanation of the rules had lost Minho's focus very early on and they still had questions about what trivia actually means but all that would not stop them from throwing in their absolute bestest.
"No problems, we will win!!" A fist was clenched up in a gesture that further solidified Minho's burning resolve. They were not in the least competitive in their nature but this was already fun and that was enough to get them fired up even though they did not always know what was happening.
ββΊο½‘ΛβΛβ§ββ½ β β―β βΎββ§ΛβΛqβΊβ πππππ π πππππ ππππππππ came naturally for Phoenix. It was usually the others that he was worried about but seeing the enthusiasm coming from the other puts him at ease. The host reminds everyone once more that there will be twenty rounds in total and a maximum of fifteen seconds for discussion. βIβm Phoenix, by the way. Sorry for not introducing myself earlier.β Of course, his excitement took full control and gave him early tunnel vision that he forgets his manners.Β
βFirst question, everyone! Which two primary colors can be mixed to make green?βΒ
Phoenix immediately turns to look at Minho and whispers, βIt has to be Blue and Yellow, right?β Getting the right answer was obviously important but being the first to answer was the real challenge. βWhen the timer hits zero, we have to raise our hands immediately. Are you ready?β He braces for the perfect timing to catch the hostβs attention and tries his hardest not to get distracted by anything else at at that very moment.Β
When he hears the bell, Phoenixβs hand shoots up excitedly, flashing the sweetest smile at the host in hopes of enticing her to pick their team to answer. When she beckons him to do so, he doesnβt hesitate to yell out the answer, earning them a point right away. βBrilliant! You should get the next one, Minho!β He encourages the other, giving them a gentle nudge. βΊβ

ββΊο½‘ΛβΛβ§ββ½ β β―β βΎββ§ΛβΛqβΊβ πππ πππππ ππ ππππππππ tonight, unlike the usual slow crawl on most of the other nights. It was the perfect time to unwind and welcome the weekend. The trivia night feature certainly helped the bar with the boost it needed. It was also Phoenixβs first ever trivia night so his excitement was off the roof, as if the smirk on his face wasnβt obvious enough.Β
Once the host was done explaining all the rules, Phoenix turns to his companion of the evening with a playful glint in his eyes and quirks a brow. βAre you any good at trivia?β He brings the glass of Old Fashioned to his lips for a few sips. βYou know weβll be winners tonight, yeah?β It comes off like a threat but there was no malice behind his words at all. βI donβt care if we win an βI LOVE ENNORAβ t-shirt. We just need to win.β Of course, Phoenix was only half-joking. He was just happy to be here, really. βΊβ

Heya! The name's δΊYun and I am soooo stoked to be here with my chaotic go-getter! This is just a rough idea of my muse and I won't say that everything is exactly set in stone. To me, muses are fluid concepts and can change a bit or a lot here and there as the storytelling naturally flow. If you'd like to brainstorm or work with something from the list, just give my plot call a boop and we can take it away in the chats!
