How about that the season didnt exist and we all live happily? XD

Unpopular opinion, but I actually didn’t despise season 8.  It’s certainly far from my favorite season, but there are a lot of things about it I did like.  And things about it I really didn’t like.  Honestly, I feel it’s undeserving of all the endless hate and salt it gets.  

The big things that I dislike is the absolute absence of Keith and Shiro’s relationship (or Shiro’s relationship with everybody really), the epilogue (mainly Shiro’s cause tbh, I’m a Sheith shipper and seeing Shiro with a random when there was a great basis for a ship with an actual main character right there is just disappointing), the relative pointlessness of the dark entity (glorified GPS in the end) when it seemed like a buildup for some corruption plot, and how easily they let Allura make her choice.  I really don’t mind that she sacrificed herself in the end to save all the universes, but I felt they should have fought harder to get her to stay.  I also never really understood why she had to make that sacrifice and would have liked that to be expanded upon.

But regardless, I’ll rewatch it eventually to give it a deeper look.  Plus, there’s still plenty of things I enjoyed about it.  Probably enjoy it more now that there isn’t that final season hype and buildup and questions.

Generally speaking, I’m more interested in acknowledging canon and exploring why things were the way they were and digging deeper.  Like, Keith and Shiro’s lack of a relationship was super disappointing to see.  So in the headcanon part I take a step back and find myself going, “Well, let’s explore a reason why there’s suddenly this distance between them.”

The only thing I miiiiiight do is not acknowledge some of the epilogues, just to keep my options open.  Plus, my Keith tends to default to having at least unrealized feelings for Shiro (though that may change depending on who I’m rping with), and I don’t really want to play an endlessly sad Keith post-canon with seeing Shiro getting married to somebody else.  XD

Though I’ll totally do that for any specific plots.

Keith had to look away from the tablet a moment, rubbing his eyes, everything just a little blurred.  Exhaustion tugged at him, but he was determined to get through this mission intel before he crashed.

Only to pause as a sudden weight shifted against his side.  Keith arched an eyebrow as he looked over at Lance.  Ugh, he was too tired for this.  “I’m not a pillow, you know.”

  “Have you seen these?”  Shiro has an armful of lion plushies, including a white one he wants to throw at Allura.  “I want like five of each.”  His room really is bare of anything personal outside of various space rocks and ‘borrowed’ items.  “I want a collection of black lions.  I’m gonna put them in weird places no one is expecting like in Pidge’s fridge.”

Keith had, in fact, not seen the lions.  But he wasn’t surprised by them either.  These alien markets they stopped at from time to time had been slowly picking up more and more Voltron-themed merchandise.  Whether or not these were born from that or they just happened to also favor lions (or whatever equivalent this planet had) was up in the air.  

Regardless, they suited Shiro, all gathered up in his arms like that.  A soft smile quirked the corner of Keith’s lips as he reached into the pocket of his jacket.  

Holding out the data chip to the vendor, he gestured towards Shiro’s arms.  “We’ll take the set.”  

Keith’s own room was notoriously bare.  Seemed reluctant to ever really move in or make a place his own; his dorm at the Garrison had been much the same.  And with his lack of personal expenses, he had plenty of money left over to get Shiro his lions.  

“If you stick one in Pidge’s fridge though, she’ll probably take it hostage.”
