hiiiii everynyan :3
blorbo polls are fun. i’ve just started playing the funger series and im havin a good time, and i noticed nobody had made this idea yet. so here we go!
feel free to submit your faves and propaganda for why they would or would not make it. be as detailed as you want!!
The options on the polls are gonna be as follows:
1. Yes, they all escape with relatively little bodily harm and trauma. (Very Few Characters Will Get This.)
2. Yes, they thrive in the dungeon. (For characters that are like. Already evil and fucked up so would be fine.)
3. Yes, but at least one of them is severely injured or traumatized. (They have lost a limb or suffer intense PTSD.)
4. No, but they make it for a while.
5. No, they starve/go mad within the first few weeks.
6. No, they die almost immediately to a guard or infection. (rip bozo)
7. See results.
do not send harry potter characters.
replies suggested a few additions to the options so from now on, we have at least two fancy new options! considering some of the others, here’s the updated list. also expanding on all of them so there’s no confusion.
1. Yes, they escape with relatively minor injury/trauma.
This means that they can survive the dungeon’s monsters and traps without losing any limbs, and are skilled at surviving with limited food and medical supplies. They also manage not to succumb to the depressing, maddening atmosphere of the dungeon.
2. Yes, they thrive in the dungeons.
This can mean two things. The first is that the dungeon is not just a place they can survive in somewhat easily, but they are HAPPY to either return regularly (perhaps as a scavenger or hunter of the monsters inside, perhaps it’s just like a vacation for them) or even permanently staying there. They are just as scary and powerful as anything one could encounter in the dungeons, if not more so. The second is that their normal routine/job is already so similar to experiencing the dungeons that they consider it business as usual. I could separate these into two options but I think that would be more clunky and I want to see people elaborate in the comments.
3. Yes, but they suffer severe injury/trauma (such as losing a limb).
Lots of bad things can happen to people in the dungeons! The combat is hard, the food is scarce, and the dungeons literally just have an aura that makes people lose their minds. And let’s be real, those dungeons are absolutely filthy, there’s no way rusty nails are the only source of disease down there. Losing limbs is one of the most common forms of damage in the games, either during combat or from an infection, so it is the example. You also see some fucked up shit down there and that can mess with your head! If you think that they’d likely not make it out with all the parts they came in with or suffer nightmares for the rest of their life, this is the option to pick.
4. Sort of, they form a Marriage or an Abominable Marriage with someone else in the dungeons.
In case anybody forgot, Marriage in Fear and Hunger refers to a ritual in the old goddess Sylvian’s honor. Two people have sex in the ritual circle and their bodies and minds fuse into one being, then referred to as a Marriage. An Abominable Marriage happens when a Marriage does the ritual with a third person, and the resulting fusion is a mass of parts that can barely be recognized as human. I don’t consider this dying necessarily, as they are still technically alive, but its certainly not surviving either. If the character is known for having extreme codependency issues or would be willing to do anything to survive and doesn’t fit the last few answers, this is probably the choice. Also I’m not going back and adding this answer to the polls I’ve already posted because that would mean remaking all of them.
5. No, but they make it for a while.
The dungeons are cruel. You can be doing really great for yourself for a while, and then boom! You get into a fight you can’t run from and can’t win, or you step on a nail without any way to treat the infection, or something like that. Maybe the character is really good in a fight, but the maddening aura of the dungeons becomes too much for them over time. Perhaps they are fantastic at scavenging and stretching resources, but they eventually run out of luck avoiding the Crow Mauler. Perhaps they’re stable and strong and resourceful, but way too cocky and prone to hubris. If that sounds like your blorbo, then they probably won’t make it out, but they don’t succumv immediately.
6. No, they starve/go mad within the first few weeks.
Is your blorbo used to comfort and luxury? Are they particularly unstable in a way that the dungeon can prey on? Are they really bad at resource management? Chances are they don’t make it very long, even if they can fight.
7. No, they die to a monster or infection almost immediately.
Clumsy, bad in a fight, hubris that isn’t backed up by any survival or combat abilities, or merely sickly. These are all traits that get you killed on the first or second floor of the dungeons. I thought about making the dogs outside at the beginning a separate option, but the dogs count as ‘monsters’ imo so if you think they’re enough of a loser to immediately get mauled by some angry dogs, this is their category.
8. See results.
Self explanatory.
i also want to see y’all’s reasoning for why they picked an option in reblogs and comments! that’s one of the most fun things about these blorbo polls to me. you don’t have to if you don’t want to obviously, i’m not your boss. but if you want to elaborate PLEASE do! :D
i’m gonna pin this post so it can be referenced at any time :3
EDIT: No Harry Potter characters and no religious figures.
