Guy only held him tighter, unsure of what to say. He wasnât an expert in the least when it came to finding yourself; he still had trouble identifying himself at times. All he felt he could do was hold him and offer assuring words, âWhat are you talking about? You have a ton of good qualities. Just think of how happy you make me just by being yourself.â
It was true; Guy was often taken aback when he heard words like this leave Syncâs mouth. He knew he must have been angry a lot of the time, but the blond almost never noticed it with how often he was bringing him happiness. âIâve never met anyone who can fight like you â youâre one of the most impressive people Iâve ever met. Just think; you were in command of an entire combat unit despite everything you had gone through.â
Guy grazed Syncâs cheek with his thumb, gently wiping away any wetness from his cheeks. He found it hard to look away from his red eyes; so broken and so lost. He wondered if he would be the one to change the way they looked. âI love you because, despite everything you say, I think youâre a good person. You may still be angry all the time, and you have a right to be, but I think you handle your life better than most people could have.â
Raising his hand, he ruffled his hand through his hair playfully. âJust donât be so hard on yourself, okay? It almost makes me miss the Sync who I knew could kick my ass if I looked at him the wrong way.â
Sync closed his eyes, leaning in to Guyâs touch. It was difficult to believe Guyâs words, especially with the way he was brought up. He never knew anything other than hating himself.
But he didnât want that anymore. That wasnât his life. This was his life. âIâŠ. donât know what to do but⊠Iâm sick of being angry. I just⊠want to be normalâŠâ He wrapped his arms around Guy, hugging him tightly. âIâm sorry.â
He took in a deep breath, trying to stop himself from crying. âI really do love you. I canât⊠guarantee that I wonât be hard on myself but⊠I want to change. I think.â His fingers gripped his shirt tightly.
âBut donât think for a second that I canât kick your ass. I may be out of practice, but Iâm confident enough.â He peaked up at Guy through his bangs, smirking slightly. âBut that can wait until you rest a bit.â
âYou just have to take it a day at a time. Itâs not going to be easy but Iâll be here for you every step of the way.â Guy slid his hands down Syncâs arms, resting them on his elbows as he still had a hold on him.
Hearing the cockiness in Syncâs voice only added to his playfulness. He had certainly missed that side of him. âOh yeah? Maybe we donât have to wait.â He slid his hands down farther, holding onto his wrists before sharply placing them behind Syncâs back to keep him in place. Leaning in, his grin grew wide as his face came close to his. âI donât think I need too much rest to handle you.â
