Begin Again
When I started this blog last year it was a little all over the place. I was throwing a million things at the wall to see what stuck. And I had a very happy summer. Truly. But then autumn rolled around as it is wont to do and I fell off the happiness wagon.
So now I’m looking for stability and sustainability. For consistency. For working things into my every day practice so that when the leaves begin to fall I can keep it together.
The nature of bipolar disorder is that you are often in flux. I’m am often swinging. Rarely settled, grounded, content. But I’ve begun to think that it really doesn’t have to be this way. As a dear friend said to me recently - it sounds like you have a lot of great things going on in your life - and I do. I have delightful friends, caring family, the most affectionate little kitten in the world, a well-paying, steady job with health insurance. I am truly so lucky. So what’s the hangup?
Biology and brain chemistry. Yes. That’s tricky. But medication helps. As do diet and exercise when I’m practicing them. But more importantly attitude. I can choose happiness and I can implement stability. I believe that we are all stronger than we realize and capable of more than we know. Myself included. So here we go. It’s time to begin again. Join me, won’t you?
