swapgraves thing i wrote in bed on my notes app wow!!!!
tw for drug addict behavior from ashley.
ashley had mood swings. this wasn't new, naturally. she's curled up in her bedsheets, her mind a torment to live in, overthinking in circles until she cracks or finds an adequate distraction. she's.... hollow.
she could smoke a cigarette... she still has a couple left, and despite no job, she has the excess money to buy a pack off someone else.
she could get up and watch tv... but it's just too far from her comfortable little bed.
she could... phone a friend.. ? but she's much too exhausted to talk to anyone. and it's too late anyway.
... calling julia?
fuck no, she already has to spend enough time with her as is. maybe that's a bad thing to think about your "romantic partner", but even she's not sure what she feels is romantic for her. or even anything super strong in general... but she's hot enough, and Is an adequate distraction from her brain and her life, so she takes it for what it is.
it's better than attempting to buy anxiety medication off the druggies at school to crush up and snort. ... andy would fucking kill her if he found out about that habit. she should stomp it. but she just can't find the reasons to right now.
whatever, she'll just cut the bitch off once she graduates, surely she won't need her anymore once ashley figures out what she needs in life to make her feel complete and not hollow.
whatever that is.
"it's 5pm, are you already sleeping?" the door cracks open and the one voice ashley isn't upset to hear vertebrates through the dark and cold room. only light being a subtle nightlight in the far corner of the room, and the new light flooding in.
she stays still, curious what he'd say or do when she's asleep. probably just fucks off or goes to relax in his bed. it's not like times wasted either way. all she has to say on her tongue is spiteful and negative vitriol about how she will always feel empty and shitty.
she has nothing constructive or kind to say, she knows that, so she just sits there and waits.
she hears him tsk, and muted footsteps that sound like socks... not barefoot but no shoes on... her back faces the door as andrew approaches the bed. somehow, she can feel his presence like its an aura, a warmth that settles behind her. she wants to turn around and bury her face into his chest.
... and push him down against her bed and ride his thigh. but whatever, that's just impish dreams that'll never come true.
"I even made dinner... you're already asleep, really?"
his hand rubs gently against her back, his fingers feeling each bump of her spine. he doesn't seem to have much direction with the touch, but ashley has to resist the urge to shiver. "it's your favorite, but... if you aren't awake to eat it, i guess i'll have to eat it."
her stomach comically growls in time, and she can hear him snicker.
"shut up, andrew."
its the first time today she's had a smile on her face. not that he can see that.
"oh, so you're just ignoring me, not sleeping, is that it?"
she groans. "i just feel like shit, i dunno."
"leyley..." his fingers dance along her spine and keep making her senses go on high aler when his hand graces towards her lower back.
"don't........" call me that, is what she should've said, but she feels the sheet behind her get peeled up, he's inviting himself into her space.
he crawls into the covers, his warmth pressed against her back as he spoons her and wraps an arm around her waist confidently and the other sliding under her torso to wrap around her waist too, pulling her back into him gently as he spoons her. her mind immediately quiets from the chaos and she melts.
she hums as her eyes fully close, a large sigh of air gets let out as whatever tension in her body escapes her. his hands and his warmth make her feel so... at home. it's her ultimate antidepressant.
just a shame she can't have him stapled to her all the time, considering... the rumors. unsavory, while she doesn't give a shit what people think of her, being bullied relentlessly and called a "victim of a molester" is not something she wants to go through again. it was a miracle through andrew's manipulation in social circles, and ashley ignoring him at school, that everyone backed off.
she feels him breathe into her neck, she is embarrassed to admit that she already starts to feel herself get wet from the action. but at least that shit is easier to hide than a boner. she backs up to get even closer to him.
"what's up?" he utters, it's quiet.
"...... it's just one of those days. i feel like... a hollow cave."
he scratches her hair with his fingers, and it's pathetic how much she melts into the gesture. "maybe you're just hungry?"
... has she eaten today?
"come on, leyley, lets go eat." he backs away, and she whines and turns around to lay on her back as he stands back up. in the subtle lighting of the bedroom, he looks so... handsome.
lost in valentine pink eyes that dote on her like shes the only worthy thing on earth. she can't believe that shes important to someone, let alone someone she...
his hands find her back and her legs, he picks her up bridal style and she doesn't even protest when he carries her out of the room and plops her into one of the dining room chairs, her nose picking up on something in the air that actually smells good, and he sits across from her as he grabs his fork and smiles.
in another life, maybe this is the view she could have in marriage and in death.
First I want to say you’re carrying the swapgraves au on your back! I love all your drawing and head cannons. What exactly made Andrew become obsessed with Ashley after the whole Nina incident. We know that base Ashley is obsessed with Andrew because he’s all she has, and Andrew is obsessed with Ashley because she sees the real him. In the swap au I could see Andrew being possessive of Ashley after his parents made him raise her, seeing his sister as his own creation. That’s why he sabotages her social life and prevents her from having much agency. He doesn’t want any outside influences messing up with what he perceives as “his”. Swap Andrew is very charming and there’s no shortage of girls but none of the can compare to his Leyley since they’re “dirty” by default.
im so glad you love swapgraves!! i love writing and tuning it, this whole process is like exploring the characters, you guys really inspire my brainjuices to flow LOLL
but: oh absolutely, hes incredibly possessive of her because of the fact that he's raised her. so possessive of her character and image, he wants her to stay her sweet, sassy and silly self forever. and while she definitely is... as she grows older, of course, people change.
the reason nina really solidified his obsession.. just that leyley was capable of that. he had Many fantasies about kicking his moms teeth in, beating her up every time she demeans ashley, he definitely struggles with violent thoughts. at first, he thought he was alone, and that nobody understood how strong and fiery his inferno and passion can get. but ashley? after they locked her in that crate? she did that... SHE did that.... it basically enabled him that the way he was thinking was something she felt too. (not exactly, ashley doesn't have violent thoughts, she just dislikes people.)
ashley for a while as a child liked andy, but couldn't really... stand him for long? he was a wildcard, and most of the time, the odds weren't in her favor, but with no friends and her quasi doormat of a brother mostly going along with her whims... she tolerated him enough. her teenage years is when she really like. hormones and Andy changed too... into someone else... someone with more moxie, charm, a very fabricated smile, but she likes it.
and obviously, andy views most other girls as shallow, hollow, hussies that could never fill the void like his precious leyley could, they could never! hes a sappy poetic romantic, romanticizing every part of their blood bond.
maybe its just because he's never met the "right girl"... but when you're 22 years old and you're still pulling NOBODY.... it's not that he doesn't have eyes on them... but the rumors started when he simply wouldn't date anyone... but was very touchy and comfortable around his sister.
he wanted to genuinely fucking murder the people that started the rumors, if it weren't for the fact that would leave his precious leyley alone as he rotted in prison.... he thinks he would've murdered douchebag with the nearest pair of scissors until his face was unrecognizable. maybe worse.
i just kinda went on an andy tangent here. i love him so much, so much to explore. :3
I just wanted to share a fic I wrote based off your au :D

THIS IS SO GOOD READ IT NOW.
you got her perfect, shes soo ohhhhh shes sooo flawed and brocon and terrible. teehee i absolutely love this anon <3333
even down to the substance, anti-anxiety abuse is much up her speed.
i see a lot of people talking about the new devlogs and how it's proof that an andrew LU lobotomy/memory wipe will occur in decay.
first of all, imo, the (june 1st, 2025) devlog screenshots are decay screenshots and not burial (as some people think, due to them still being in the area near the motel). but to me, it seems that the devs are dead-set on finishing decay before starting burial, there isn't much to "prove" this with how vague they are, but it's just what i think. shrug.
but anyway. it's not IMPOSSIBLE for them to backtrack, and especially with andrew's rekindled connection with lord unknown, and them going back down to the cultist club (where andrew can accidentally summon him, in chap 2.) they may as well be there because they need the large summoning circle to summon LU again, into the human realm.
the reason i'm not quite on board with an andrew lobotomy... (the idea that lord unknown will simply erase all of andrew's incestuous feelings to ashley, making him act much more tame and docile overall.) i just feel like it would diminish any kind of character growth that could be considered satisfying, but then again, it is entirely in character for andrew to utilize a "get out of jail free" card and just have those feelings erased, assuming he still believes that ashley doesn't love him like that. but mayhaps there will be some hesitation for it.
but honestly i don't know what lord unknown will do, hence the CLIFFHANGER that the ending gives.
also YAYAYAYAY ASHLEY POV FOR CHAPTER 4 (if this is for decay ch4) .... chapter 3 has such a heavy focus on andrew's pov (for good reason!) but i always love to see and dive into ashley's psyche bc ;;; she needs it too LOL.
but a lot of people have been assuming this above screenshot is proof of the memory wipe, but mm methinks that this is AFTER all the character development that potentially occurred from the end of the decaying along cliffhanger. they've absolved whatever favor the demon (not lord unknown, the other one) set out for them and they've left the realm between and came back to the human realm...
andrew's behavior is clearly changing at this point, but honestly, it doesn't seem like it's bad? ashley associates the doormat-y and obedient side of him as andy, and his more stern and assertive side as andrew. clearly there's a shift in his behavior if he's falling in Neither of those categories.
tbh this doesn't explain how they're still in the hitmans car, but im lowkkk just assuming that the "interior car" graphic just looks the same across all cars. but that's kinda a stupid assumption to make. but otherwise shrug. (maybe they get let out of the demon realm where they left off at the campsite, and when they go to walk back, SOMEHOW the car hasn't been towed and it is still there for them to use.)
anyway lol im glad there's at least stuff to chew on this time.
Hot Take Ashley Noticed Andrew Being Horny Weird Around Her
I think Ashley knows about the peeping. It would explain why she assumes the worst of Andrew. I made a post before about how Ashley seems to believe the "men think of sex every 5 seconds" myth regarding Andrew, not realizing how Andrew's focus is on her specifically. I think her realizing Andrew's horny around her doesn't disprove anything I said. Because to her this would actually prove her point. That he's so horny that he'd even lust after his sister, but is too much of a coward to actually say it to her face. And because Andrew never fully explains how down bad he is for her, Ashley's left to assume that Andrew's just that desperate for sex and nothing else. And whenever she tried to explore being more romantic she's pushed away, further cementing that its just lust.
Like the time when they were teens, and Ashley wondered if they could be different. She wasn't fully onboard with being gross together, but she was curious about being a couple. Something different. But then Andrew pushed her away and never explained why he was uncomfortable, so the only conclusion Ashley could come to was that Andrew didn't see her that way. Then in the year and change they don't talk she notices him getting horny, so she's only left to assume that it must just be her body he's interested in, despite already being in a relationship with Julia. He just wanted her body but not be in a "real" relationship like he was with Julia, which I think also contributed to how pissed she was when they became "official." Even without doing anything, it's hard to imagine her not feeling used this way. And also becoming "official" signified the potential to get married, leaving Ashley behind.
Which is exactly what Andrew was planning, running off without even trying to talk it out with her!
There's also the "mishap" on the couch in shots, when after the shotgun she takes the initiative to kiss Andrew back.
She never gave herself the opportunity to explore her own view of sex, but I do think that she genuinely likes being affectionate to Andrew and him being affectionate to her, even when they definitely cross the line. She likes hugs, cuddles and sometimes even the "mishaps," maybe because in those moments she can feel like she's actually loved. The last time she was really happy was joking around on their parents couch and biting him. But once again, Andrew pushes her away, saying she's bad at it.
In the splat ending she admits it hurts when Andrew doesn't think she likes them.
And in the Shots and Such ending she gives up on the soft affectionate side of their relationship altogether, only using her body as a means to an end and even resenting the one time she almost enjoyed it.
Andrew complains about not having boundaries with Ashley, but the sick joke is he never gave Ashley boundaries either. Her privacy was invaded by him without explanation. She was used as an object of desire the way Ashley used "Andy" as a safe object. One of the many reasons Ashley prefers "Andy" is that he would be with her without expecting anything, but "Andrew" has the wants of a man which threatens to separate him from her.
It's also why she's so confused in the cliffhanger route. Andrew gives her "promises" and is affectionate, yet isn't interested in bartering for affection or using her body. It almost shakes that deep-seated view she has of Andrew.
...Then of course Andrew fucks it up right before they separate. And now Ashley's left with the Entity's words about him betraying her until he either returns or she goes looking for him.
Also fun fact, Andrew never says "I love you" back to Ashley. Not once. Because if he did his real feelings for her might leak out. You could say Ashley's similar in that most of her "I love yous" are for Andy, but unlike Andrew I think she extends what she considers "love" to Andrew too, in a different way.
Anyway tl:dr Ashley's assumption of Andrew being horny all the time was possibly contributed to the fact that Andrew kept failing to hide his horniness around her. At this point it'd be healthier for Andrew to just ask Ashley out. Go out to the movies? Have a candlelight dinner with a couple limbs and some wine? Go stargazing? I heard someone had a really good pick-up line to use during stargazing.
I was going to be like "If you thought Leyley was an irredeemable devil as a child you probably just hate kids" but I'll be a little more lenient and say you probably either never interacted a lot with kids nor have had to work with kids. Fair enough. But like you're still wrong and I'm going to explain why.
The first part of Decay was an hourlong flashback showing why Andrew hates Leyley, and as a child how easy it was to view her as the evil thing that's ruining his life. And don't get me wrong, Leyley was an absolute brat. She's rude, she's pushy, she throws tantrums, she has no filter, and she has no qualms breaking things.
But from an outside perspective, especially from someone who's worked with kids like this? She's just being a normal kid. None of this surprises or disturbs me. Her attitude and actions made perfect sense. Like yeah when kids are left to their own devices and made to watch each other, when all the adults in their lives want nothing to do with them, this is going to be the result.
If you don't give them the attention they need and the only way they get it is to break things, they are going to break things. And because Andy initially only bothered with Leyley when she breaks things, she learned this is the only way to get and keep his attention.
And this mindset that Andrew will only give her attention when she breaks things is why she continuously pushes Andrew's buttons present day. She never grew out of this belief, which is why it's hard for her to grow out of Leyley.
And reminder, the reason this happened is due to the parents. This was not Leyley's fault, it was the parents who pushed Leyley onto Andy. And I also don't blame Andy for not understanding that as a kid. Later as an adult Andrew does realize that it was his mom who caused this to happen, but it doesn't remove the resentment he festered for Leyley for so long.
On another note I think it was nice how despite this burden put on Andy that made it hard to like Leyley, there's still glimpses of them getting along. Andy defending Leyley from the teacher, them chatting and laughing about getting baked into one of grandma's pies. It really showed that in spite of everything they could have gotten along as normal siblings would, if only things hadn't been screwed up from the start.
It also shows that despite hating Leyley, Andy was still only ever happy with her in the flashback. During that whole sequence not once was he happy interacting with anyone except those few times with Leyley. The only times he acted happy with anyone else was because it was just that: an act to avoid discomfort or trouble.
When the main source of your misery is also the main source of your happiness...yeah no wonder things went so bad.
the sheer extent of what you miss in this game if you're a serial clicker and explore everything continues to astonish me because i JUST saw this for the first time streaming this for two of my partners what the FUCK do you mean Ashley tried gardening at one point.
"Never did get them to bloom, though. Most things don't work out for me, honestly... but hey! They might not have bloomed, but they didn't die on me either!"
screaming crying throwing up i care for her so much
