How I spent my birthday. Getting Polly used to being handled for her future as a petting zoo pig. Hoping she teaches many kids how smart and affectionate pigs can be.

A frog birthday cake made by my roommate and daughter! I was too tired last night but today I’m digging in to it.
This is what a 58 year old butch lesbian woman looks like. Body by farm work, taking care of dogs and cats and whatever food I think sounds good. Life is short. And so am I.
Happiness is being a butch lesbian. Today I turned 58. And life is grand.
Turning 58 today. Suns up, coffee is hot, I’m a Lesbian, I’m still kicking. It’s a great day already.
I met Wanda for the first time on Saturday. We’re not friends yet. But she’ll take treats.

Growing up I always thought quicksand would be a problem. Turns out its corn and arthritis in my knees that’s gonna get me.

The farm is opening this weekend. My body is not used to this yet
RIP Snowball. You were a menace in life and death. I’ll miss you
I want everyone to be aware of a “fake report” scam. A user will contact you or ask you to message because they “can’t message you for some reason”. They’ll say they were scammed by a similar looking account and they reported you, as did their friends. They’ll say they are very sorry and present you with an image about the “community guidelines violations”. They’ll give you a contact person for resolution. It’s a scam. Report the message as a scam. Block the user immediately.
This ain’t my first rodeo with scammers. I’m Gen X and suspicious as hell. Be careful out there.
A chance to dress up and a new cowboy hat.
jen u are a beautiful person inside and out i used to follow u on tiktok back when i had it and now i follow u on here and im very glad. idk i know u hear this often but im having a bad day and seeing ur posts has made me smile
I know I am a bit late and always behind on this blog. I hope life is better, even as our world seems a bit scarier today.
I try to post realistically but with a positive twist. If i can bring a little hope and happiness to others then I am a success in my mind.
Big Butch Aunt Hugs from me to you.
hi Jen! any advice for a 20smthg lesbian who still lives at home with unsupportive parents? how do i meet someone? am i doomed to be alone until i eventually move out? i'm not really the online dating type but i worry that's where everyone is meeting their person nowadays...
Make sure you are planning ahead and really focusing on gaining independence. Bank account, job(s), driver's license etc. The sooner you have your own resources the sooner you have the freedom to live life on your own terms.
Non profit volunteering is a fantastic way to meet lesbians, particularly dog and cat rescues. Getting involved in the Democratic party will bring you in contact with lesbians or those who will happily introduce you to lesbian friends, cousins, nieces etc. If there is a PFLAG or local Pride group, get involved if you can safely do so. Most meetings are walk in and they always need volunteers.
Check at your local library for LGBT or lesbian or feminist or women's book clubs and join.
I hope these give you some ideas to follow up on.
Jen I’m 25 and I’ve finally gained real independence from my family but at the cost of moving away from the city and my leatherdyke community. It’s been nice being in the country and working with horses but I haven’t managed to make any friends in the two months I’ve been here. I’m just feeling lonely and untethered
It is harder to make connections with other lesbians in rural areas. I am lucky that bigger cities are fairly short drives and I had established a friend circle before buying my land WAY back in 1999.
I am thankful for the internet because i can continue to make and keep connections even when I can't travel or get time away from work.
I know the stereo type of horse girls is "straight" but I hope you soon discover others who are horse girls and not straight. Statistically there must be one or two?
Perhaps start an on line group (it can be small) to start up zoom meeting or local meet ups with like minded people. You might only be able to travel once or twice a year to meet up with others in person but that can truly help with feeling alone when you have something to look forward to.
I know FB is for old people LOL but they might even be established groups in your area. We have a "lesbians of Iowa" FB group and they are very active.
Two month is not a long time to give yourself a chance to see and find other lesbians. Give yourself time to settle and really look around.
Wishing you the best of luck.
