Alone in the darkness,
With nothing but my thoughts,
I wonder what it is
That I am truly sought.
Is it love,
Or just a fleeting affection?
Do I yearn for companionship,
Or simply my own reflection?
The silence is deafening,
As my mind starts to race,
I ponder the mysteries of life,
And try to keep pace.
But in this solitude,
I find a certain peace,
The ability to simply exist,
And to let my worries cease.
For in the end,
We all must go alone,
So perhaps being by myself,
Is the way to truly atone.
And so I embrace the stillness,
And welcome the quietude,
For being alone allows me
To truly brood.
