Readiness and Language use in Inclusive Education.
Language plays an important role in Inclusive Education. It's important not just only for the educators but also to us students and to the community to increase attention given the discrimination that individuals with disabilities experience, it places an important priority on the word "inclusive" and removes any discriminations and obstacles related to these kinds of situations. Inclusive Education's goal and priority is to teach and make them feel that they also belong to this world that we live in even they have disabilities.
This study seeks to raise awareness and the readiness not just for the educators but also the students and the community as well, this study also seeks to be understand how hard it is for the people who has disabilities to be taught and how hard it is for them to learn. We hope that this study will help us further more to better understand how educators use language for more inclusive education and implore their readiness.
Our interview with Mrs. Lorelie Despe, the head teacher of Masbate National Comprehensive High School, served as the basis for this study. We started by asking her "what is Inclusive Education?", and simply respond "Inclusivity in education has been a grind to most educators who promote accessibility to learning. Education is for all. No matter what religion, gender, status in life, or even races or ethnicity, because nobody should be left behind" well said I say. As our interview continued we asked, what are the events or how do teacher need for the readiness for inclusive education she responded "Teachers attended seminars, workshops and other related courses in preparation for this kind of learners" and followed by do the school head implies this? "Our school head always reminds us teachers to give more importance and much attention on the needs of these IP. Different approaches, methods and techniques should be used to deliver effective teaching" which is a relief given the degree of difficulty teaching in Inclusive Education.
She also stated that if the students struggles because of different ethnics and cultural background she responded with "I would tell the class to give respect and show patience and understanding in order to avoid conflict and misunderstanding so that these IP could get along with the class". And lastly she recommended some strategies for the students to get along despite of their differences she said " A teacher should create intervention to address their needs. If possible, a teacher should know and study their cultural background so that she could deal and get along with them". And she further implied "to provide the pupils the attention they may require and to have a deep understanding of how to use language as a tool in inclusive education". Language do play a big role in Education but despite of all the struggles and difficulties and with a huge help from technology, educators manage to get it done at the end of the day while displaying their readiness in any sort of situations.
