Finally have an official cover and title! There were some REALLY good guesses as to what the title could have been, but I can at least explain my reasons why I went with Replica. TLDR you can still call it Future Booty Shaker if you want. Usual info dump below:
There are several reasons why I chose Replica as the final name. The most obvious being that Omega is Donnie’s blatant attempt at replicating himself in digital form.
The second being that this comic is in itself is an attempt at replicating the vibe and setup of the film’s opening as closely as possible. Those first 4:05 have literally become the bible for this story and I have already had to make vast changes based off of tiny details that weren’t noticed until later on.
Ironically the cut full opening just dropped today and I do have some feelings I’d like to address. It’s obvious how substantially different the two openings are from each other. As cool as it was to see everyone kicking butt, I will admit I still like the final version a lot better. Sure it’s shorter, but it felt far more personal and intimate than the action packed cut version, and THAT’S the sort of vibe I want to replicate in this comic.
At its core, this isn’t a story about fighting a bunch of Krang, it’s a story about a family fighting their own personal battles before an apocalyptic backdrop and Replica is a vain attempt at retaining that feeling while building a story around it. Will I be successful? Who knows. I will definitely be drawing reference from the cut boards especially the appearance of their colony. I’m happy my hunch was right that they were stationed beneath the Statue of Liberty, that was already a part of my story haha.
My runner up title would have been “Fall of the TMNT” however I felt it was a little too on the nose. Though it did make for a fun dichotomy with “Rise of the TMNT”s title. Anyways that’s my info dump. Feel free to still hashtag Future Bootyyy Shaker, I know I will.
I just saw your art of Leo as Robert from Dispatch which I absolutely adored a lot since they're both my favorite characters, and I was wondering if you would ever draw more of it?
Already have! Got a bunch of lore for him in my head too.
Have a little one I did for my Patreon.
Here is the other piece I’ve done for those who missed it.
Yes I made Leo a millennial because Robert is a millennial and I am a millennial lol.
Happy Independence Day, everyone! Figured a fun way to celebrate would be to share a short story I wrote for my Patreon a year ago on how the Mad Dogz take their first steps towards taking back their freedom from the EPF. Enjoy!
Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of True Happiness
"You can't be serious, Leo... the thing sticks out like a sore thumb!" Raph gestured up to the massive statue, his chasm deepening further.
"Hey! That's Lady Liberty you're talking about," Leo countered with an easy grin.
"My point exactly. Plus, it's already covered in Krang goop."
"All the more reason the Krang will never think to check inside and the EPF will keep their distance!"
"Ugh, Donnie, help me out here," Raph looked to his brother who was still busy typing away as his visor scanned the harbor filled with ruined warships.
"As much as I'd hate to admit it, Liberty Island would not be a bad spot for a new home base. It's a strategic position within the harbor and while the statue is rather loud and proud, the star shaped fortress beneath it was designed to be able to fire in every direction. The sediment-based soil below is malleable and free of underground structures so it would be easy for me to drill and create a new, proper lair."
"There, see?? Even the brain-ace can admit when I have a good idea," Leo grinned at his big brother, to which Raph could only pout.
"You do realize that if we do this though... we will become residents of New Jersey," Donnie paused in his typing to arch a brow Leo's way.
"What?? No way! Everyone knows that the Statue of Liberty is part of New York!" Leo gaped.
"Well technically, there have been many legal disputes through the decades regarding the jurisdictional boundaries between New York and New Jersey, culminating in a 1998 Supreme Court ruling that extended New Jersey's sovereignty over the artificially filled portions of both Liberty Island and Ellis Island as well as--"
"SHORT VERSION, Don-tron."
Donnie sighed as he closed all his projections of the court case documentation. "The Statue of Liberty and parts of Liberty Island are New York... but everything man-made or below the sea level is New Jersey."
"So if we built a lair below the Statue of Liberty..." Mikey began.
"It would actually be in New Jersey. Yes." Donnie finished.
"Are you KIDDING ME?? What sort of ruling is that?!" Leo threw up his arms.
"Regardless, it is where the current borders stand and I doubt either the remnants of the US government or the EPF have any interest in hearing your case now."
Leo's pout only held for a moment before he brightened with a new idea. "Well then I'll just live in the statue!"
"I don't think--"
"DIBS ON THE HEAD!" Leo quickly cried out.
"DIBS ON THE TORCH!" Mikey immediately followed.
"GUYS! We can't call dibs on a National Monument!" Raph barked.
"Oh, don't worry, Liberty and I go waaaaay back. I made her laugh once, ya know," Leo grinned.
"Hehe sorry Raph, ya snooze ya lose!" Mikey's grin matched his brother's.
"Well before you all start calling 'dibs' on federally owned property, you should know that the head and torch aren't actual rooms. They're just stairwells that are likely in need of serious repair," Donnie winced.
"It'll be fiiiiiine," Leo shrugged. "I'll just portal in some wood planks, maybe a nice throw rug, and it'll be a humble abode before you can even climb all those stairs!"
"That sounds terribly unsafe and hardly up to code," Donnie deadpanned.
"Yeah. We're doing this so we can finally bail on the Central Park Colony, right?" Raph urged. "The last thing we want to do is move to someplace even less safe. At least with the new Lair underground we have some means of protection. There'll be no going back to the EPF, once we leave..."
All four grew silent at the mention of the EPF. It had only been a year since they sought asylum at the Central Park Colony after their lair had been raided by the Krang. The humans had managed to save Raph's life, but at the cost of their freedom. Now they had become nothing more than first wave fodder for a colony of humans who feared and hated them... along with all the other mutants and yokai refugees. To be fair, the four brothers had it easier than most mutants since the EPF at least found them useful.
"Don't worry, I'll be happy to move down underground once Donnie's done drilling... though I'm sure he's going to be busy for some time," Leo finally smiled, calling them all back from their quiet thoughts.
"Well, by my calculations... it should only take me a few months to drill out a basic floor plan. Kitchen... living room, six to eight bedrooms--"
"Oh we're going to need WAY more rooms than that," Leo smirked, happy to see the confusion painting his brothers' faces.
"Why would we need so many?" Raph tilted his head.
"Cuz I want to build more than just a lair for us..." Leo smiled as he stared up at the giant statue still standing strong even against the encroaching Krang vines. All three brothers looked at Leo with surprise, watching as he turned to smile their way with that all too hopeful spark in his eye.
"I want to build an entire colony."
"...IN NEW JERSEY??" Mikey scoffed.

Thanks for reading! If you like the way I write and want more Replica-related stories like this I have loads more on my Patreon. Everything from the story of how Donnie got his scars, to the original Alien Invasion that happened without Casey Jr's intervention, and a near 40 chapter arc on what exactly went down in Shanghai. It's been so fun getting to tell these extra little stories floating around in my brain. There's way too much to fit into an entire comic so this has been a great way to get these worldbuilding ideas out and into the ether.
Also, for those curious, I always included a timeline since uh... there's a lot that goes down in this near 25 year span of time, haha!

MASTER POST
Oof! Guess Donnie finally won against Leo... kind of? He certainly won at the mind game Leo was playing at least (whether Omega meant to or not.) Short Arc, but we're getting close to the ending of the first book finally! I'm really excited to show the next update, but it might take a while. Please be patient with me in the meantime!
Either way, Happy Father's Day (both to dads and stand-in dads)!
Also call out to the artist who did the original reference (I think they're named KibirdBanana, but just came across it on Pinterest so let me know if I'm incorrect).
Arc 7 begins! Wow a Replica update that did not take me months to do?? Unheard of!

MASTER POST
I've had this headcanon for Leo being a better chess player than Donnie for YEARS. It's actually an idea that I've planted and has done its rounds in the fandom in the years leading up to this. I'm glad I finally get to dive into it properly. This is going to be a much shorter story like my early Arcs for Replica but I just love little character studies such as these so please indulge me!
Whew, after a breakup, a flu bug, a nasty stomach virus, a car accident, physical therapy, and my vision going bad in one eye, I finally have this next update finished. 2026 has certainly not been kind to me, but I'm hanging in there and hoping to get back to a normal baseline soon. So far it's been about two weeks without something bad happening so I'm hoping whatever AO3 curse struck me down has finally moved on. Thank you everyone for your patience as I try to get all my projects back on track.
Anyways, this was quite a chapter, huh? I'm sure you have lots of questions, and I'm willing to answer some of them, if only because I love character discussion!
So the keen fan might recognize that this whole sequence is a close mirror to Raphael's meditation from the season 1 finale! I always found this segment fascinating and wondered if it had a deeper meaning that was never shown to us due to the show's cancelation. After watching it again some years back I realized how his meditation could not only be an accurate vision, but one that foretold Raph's final moments, the use of time travel to undo their dark future, and his journey into the afterlife with his father as his guide. In the series Raphael had meditated with the intention of "his path being revealed" ...and it certainly was.
The thing about visions is that they seldom make much sense until hindsight can be applied and that's exactly what happened here. Poor Raph thought it wasn't working, but I truly believe that as a creature driven by his heart and instincts he could tap into the spiritual side of the mystic arts in a way similar to Mikey. Where as Leo and Donnie tend to fall back onto logic, the Sunset Duo has always allowed their emotions to be the driving force of their actions. It's why he could easily see Karai when she was a part of April, and why this small meditation session was actually successful. The dum-dumb just didn't put two and two together.
I was originally planning to have the sequence still end with him falling down into the maw of some Krang-like monster but decided that it did not end well with that sort of tone... even if it would have been very symbolic with him being consumed by the Krang. If you want to imagine that happened though, be my guest haha.
Interesting semi-related note, but if you look closely at the back at the giant maw, like a light at the end of the tunnel we see a very familiar blue glow. Something that reminds me a lot of Leo's portals. Perhaps a way out for Raphael that will free him from his own shackles? Funny how this same thing also happened earlier in the series, in which Leo had to use his portals to help them escape the maw of another giant Yokai... albeit it was his portals that got them into trouble in the first place, but that's pretty much exactly how things went down in the movie's plot as well so I find it very poetic...
I just liked having it be a little more symbolic with his final moments being a callback to the series finale instead.
As for the last few shots in the update... I don't want to give too much away, but it sort of feels like maybe Raph's spirit came into contact with a certain someone to help the reignite their ninpo. Hmm... be sure to remember this. It will not be the only occasion!
A little piece I did in ode to Wifie's fantastic ARG "Searching for A World that Doesn't Exist" and "Destroying a World That Doesn't Exist" on Youtube. I'm not really a Minecraft fan, but the storytelling was too good not to sweep me off my feet. I was waiting for Part 2 which finally came out a bit ago and I was not disappointed.
On top of that the two main characters in it were so Leo and Mikey coded to me that I couldn't help myself but draw them. Leo as the "too clever for his own good" emotionally distant D3rlord3 and Mikey as kind-hearted Avery (not to mention Avery and Mikey both have green skin so it works haha).
Highly recommend checking Part 1 out HERE if you haven't seen it.
So yesterday I had the pleasure of joining Colin Stein's stream in celebration of the Rise Art Book's release! It was an absolute joy getting to chat with so many of the crew as well as make a few sketches in Magma-fest that I think went over 20 canvases! Makes me happy to see so much love from both the team as well as the fandom!
Happy Rise Art Book Day! Life has been very tiring as I'm still healing and dealing with a bunch of different things, but I still wanted to express my joy for this book with a little piece! It's always fun drawing the turtles as proper teens rather than war torn old people lol! Happy reading everyone!
So excited to be a part of this amazing Zine! It has some fantastic art and I am quite proud od the piece I finished for this one! Please consider ordering one!
Friend: hey you got plans for a TMNT April Fool’s Day comic?
Me: I would have but… I was in a car accident today so not this time.
Friend: … is that supposed to be an April Fool’s joke?
Me:
Friend: hejekisnheowjsbaop?!!
Sorry fo the medical jump-scare, but I did find the timing pretty funny. I’ll admit 2026 has not been kind to me so far. Flu bug in February. Stomach virus in March. Now starting off April with a car accident.
I’m doing ok, but they wanted to take me to the ER to be sure I didn’t have any spinal or brain injuries. I seem to be in the clear but I’m still pretty shaken up from the accident. Here’s hoping insurance can get everything cleared soon.
I’m finally almost done with the next Replica update but all these issues and illnesses have really slowed me down. Hoping to show more soon so thank you everyone for your patience!
