Yet another Faye Wong x Cocteau Twins collab that I hadn't heard of before
Backstory: This version of Serpentskirt is a duet between Chinese musician Faye Wong and Elizabeth Fraser (lead singer of Cocteau Twins). I was already aware of the original collabs between these respective artists on Wong's "Fúzào" - as well as Wong's covers of already existing Cocteau Twins songs - but this was a new discovery for me.
I think this is due in part to the esoteric nature of this release itself. This track can only be found on the Asian-exclusive release of Milk and Kisses (1996) - which means you can only really listen to it on YouTube. Much like the original track, Wong's vocal additions are in a similar gibberish language as Fraser's lyrics, even to Chinese speakers, the lyrics have no sense. Their voices complement each other very well!
I think this is a pretty neat piece of Faye Wong trivia that I previously had not known about - I'm not sure how widespread this version of Serpentskirt is, but I hope you found this as interesting as I did!
