“Oh yes, mom and pops being completely worried about you to make sure you’re safe. Typical.” He scoffed not talking to his family much, not that he didn’t want to but he really hated the overbearing aspect of it all. “In the mean time I haven’t spoken to them in weeks.”

It was mean but it was true, he really just tended to stick to himself more than reach out to others. It was a weakness of his, but he accepted it. “Are you just going to visit for a while before going back?”

Blaine frowned slightly. He’d never understood Cane’s attitude towards their parents or the lifestyle they lived. Cane had always hated the Andersons’ expectations, but Blaine had been happy to comply. He was never sure how to talk about their family around his brother.

“ No, ” he perked up at the slight change in conversation. “ I’m in school and everything. I plan on staying for a little while. I like it here. ”

I love being a dog owner. My girl is really important to me. My Ma even bought her Christmas presents this year, which is a think I never thought I’d be okay with.

Well, I can’t wait to meet her. She sounds so cute.

“Yeah, of course. I’d love to do that.” Cane nodded feeling a bit awkward just sort of standing on a sidewalk. Motioning for him to follow him inside the diner, he settled in a booth hidden away in the back.

He felt like a jerk, sitting there once he had ordered a coffee, looking at his brother quizzically. “It’s sort of not a no-brainer. You just up and moved here? It’s a little bonkers, B.” He said honestly before biting his lip.

“Not that I’m not stoked to see you, I’m just trying to wrap my mind around that you heard I was here and just like moved.”

He followed after his brother, waving at his co-workers on the way by. He understood why Cane was so shocked. It was sudden and honestly risky. It had been so long. Maybe Cane wouldn’t want his big brother around anymore? But, he seemed happy, and that was enough for Blaine.

“ Maybe all that spontaneity of yours is wearing off on me? ” he shrugged. “ Mom and dad were all for it, since they knew I’d have at least two people I knew around. ”

Oh yeah, babies are cute. I prefer dogs, but I’ll probably change my mind if I ever have kids of my own someday. Who knows. Anything’s possible.

Dogs are pretty awesome, though. Every time I pass a shelter or see a humane society add I have to physically stop myself from adopting a little guy.

“That’s a good idea. And it sounds like fun, even if we’re not good at it.” Max put away a bag of chips, then opened the fridge to put in some fresh fruit. “Plus, practice makes perfect.” Once the groceries were all out of the bags and in their designated cupboards, Max washed his hands and turned to Blaine. “Alright, I’m down. Show me how this works.” 

Blaine put the empty bags aside and led the other back to his room. “ Ignore all the half unpacked boxes. I kept getting distracted, ” he admitted with a blush. He hopped up on his bed, grabbed a controller and held the other out to Max as he crossed his legs.

I could never torture them. I love them too much. Besides, I know that kids will be kids. That’s a smart idea but I’m kind of afraid to expose one of my friends to these antics. The twins are some serious troublemakers.

Baby Shark is for everyone, I guess. No matter how young or old. Ah, good ol’ college. Never been. Sounds super fun though. How was it?

Torturing and loving are not mutually exclusive when it comes to siblings, haha. That’s what friends are for.

Personally, I love it. But, then again I’ve always loved school. Plus, I’m studying music so I get to enjoy my classes.

It wasn’t a secret that their family money certainly helped with his travels, though there was also a very hidden fact that most of his savings had been depleted as well. Blaine didn’t need to know that, no one did really. He loved his family and he missed his brother that was for sure, and hugging Blaine after so many years had really brought that back.

 “Cozy Cove.” He answered with a small shrug having the option to move into Lemon Grove but preferring the slightly offset lot from the fancier section.

“I still can’t believe that you just up and moved here when Pap told you.”

Blaine couldn’t stop smiling. Being away from the other had sucked. Blaine loved people, but more than anything he loved his family. Not being around his siblings constantly? It was hard.

“ The trailer park? That’s so cool! ” he insisted. “ You should come visit me and my roommate once I have everything set up. You’ll love him, by the way. He’s awesome. ”

At the comment he shrugged. “ Why wouldn’t I? I missed you, ” he said honestly. “ You rarely stop moving long enough, seemed like a no-brainer. ”

My mother and step-father went out of town yesterday so that means I get to watch the twins! I have no idea what they’re into so I’m kind of just winging it until they start yelling at me. Kind of embarrassed saying that since they’re my siblings and all but these kids have different toy phases all the time. Anyway, if you were in The Junction a few hours ago and you heard the loudest scream ever, it was me. I caught Lucia standing on Luca’s back so they could get my fish out of his tank. My life literally flashed before my eyes. Can you say traumatizing? 

I think I’m doing good though overall. I turned on Baby Shark and they were obsessed. So obsessed that we listened to all of the different versions that people made. They even have a R&B version. What’re you guys up to?

Man, I remember torturing my siblings when I was younger. Maybe you need a babysitting buddy, one person to watch each kid. I’m sure they’re smart enough to work out it’s two against one, haha.

Wow, that’s kind of awful. Then again, I was stuck listening to all these frat guys drunkenly sing it at school back home. I just got home from school, actually.

“Oh!” Max grinned, setting his bags down on the kitchen counter. “That sounds like fun. Even though I’m pretty sure you’ll win. I don’t have much experience with video games. I like them, but… it’s not something I’m good at.” He nudged one of the bags closer to Blaine, unpacking another. “Thanks. You’re totally free to eat any of this stuff, by the way, just so long as you leave a little note if you finish it, so I know to pick up more.” 

“ We’ll just have to practice then, ” Blaine insisted. “ My old room mate, when I lived on dorms back home, was super into them so I ended up learning some stuff from him, ” he explained. Blaine started putting stuff away, occasionally opening multiples cupboards until he figured out the system. “ I can definitely do that, and the same goes for anything I buy. I’m pretty good at labeling something if it’s a no fly zone. ” he chuckled.

It’s a job, it doesn’t pay much but it’s more just to force myself to get up and active and walk away from the computer screen for a few hours each weekend, because I get caught up when I’m working. I love being outdoors and hiking and all that.

Hey, a job is a job. I work at the Angel Diner, so I understand the grind. I’m not much of an outdoorsy person, myself. I like being inside. I have gone camping a few times, though, and as long as it’s only once a summer I love it.

Stop by anytime, my door’s always open, and Lakely loves the company. Baby fever? You want a baby, a real baby? Damn, that’s ambitious.

You’re my new favourite person. And, not right now. I can barely take care of myself, but that doesn’t mean I don’t still collapse into a heap of happiness whenever I see a baby.

Pap called. Those words couldn’t help but sting. Not because he was mad their grandfather had called but because he hadn’t bothered to call himself. Cane had always been the do it yourself kind of guy kind of sticking to his lonesome but he was always a family man. He just sort of got tangled into himself too much sometimes. That didn’t mean he wasn’t excited to see his brother though, it was just so strange to see him after so long.

“You just moved here?” Cane asked with a soft smile as he regain his composure and took a step towards his twin. “That’s bonkers.”

Shaking his head, he opened his arms towards Blaine. “Holy shit it’s been a minute, good to see you man.”

Blaine had never been mad at his brother for running off and the little contact. Why would he be? Cane was finding his passion and discovering his craft, Blaine thought that was noble. He didn’t know if he’d ever be able to do something like that on his own. He needed people at all times.

“ Its not like we don’t have the money, ” he shrugged.

It was’t said to be obnoxious or arrogant, it had always just been a fact for the Andersons. They had a stupid amount of money and Blaine’s parents had always encouraged their kids to use it to further their dreams if necessary.

He grinned when Cane opened his arms, practically launching himself at his twin. It was hard being away from him more than it was their other sibling, thanks to the whole sharing a womb thing.

“ I moved in at the Junction, ” he said as he pulled back. “ Where’re you located? ”

Yeah, I don’t really see the hype. I’m a pretty big skeptic. I do tours around the Abyss on the weekends, so hopefully the spirits - if they’re real - can see I’m not a threat or whatever.

Well, if you end up possessed, I warned you. Oh really?  As like a job, or alone?  I was a park ranger once between my first and second year of college, but definitely not what I’m cut out for.

Max jumped a little at the sound of a voice coming from inside his apartment when he stepped inside - still not totally used to the new roommate situation. His last one had gotten promotion and moved out of town, and Blaine’s voice definitely sounded a lot different than hers had.

He looked over at Blaine when he heard him come into the front room, smiling back at the shorter man. “No, I’m not busy, but I’ve gotta be honest, I have no clue how to set that kind of thing up, if that’s what you need help with.” He nodded at the controllers in Blaine’s hand, shrugging helplessly at him. “I’m down to try, though. Just let me put these groceries away, okay?” 

He was happy Max seemed so kind. Blaine knew some room mates barely saw each other and kind of just ignored one another. Blaine could never live with someone he couldn’t talk to.

“ Oh, no, ” Blaine laughed. “ All set up, I’m inviting you to whoop my butt at Mario Kart, because trust me, I’m the worst. Still my favourite game, ” he clarified. “ Oh, you want some help? ” he said, not waiting for an answer before going to join him.

Her name is Lakely, she a pitbull and she’s grey. And she’s amazing. You should get a dog, dogs make everything better.

She sounds so cute! I’ll have to meet her. I love animals. I think a dog might cure my insane baby fever.
