The Impossible Chase || Jack and Caleigh
She could tell by the face he made he had no intention on asking Nora out. And that only made the girl frustrated. “Jack, honestly, if you don’t ask her out tomorrow you will be banned from this house and I’ll keep your car and your gun. Got it? We are all going out tomorrow night to have a few drinks, chat a little, and then you are gonna have some fun. There is no point on arguing. I will not change my mind.” The girl said, looking at him seriously, Adam trying not to giggle in front of Jack, burying his face on Caleigh’s neck while his arms wrapped around her waist. “Yeah, I have a spare room upstairs. Don’t worry about it.” Cal said, waving a hand and placing a light kiss to her brother’s forehead. “I think it’s time to go to bed. Are you gonna stay over, cupcake?” The blonde asked her brother, and he eyed Jack suspiciously before shaking his head no, kissing Caleigh’s cheek and leaving with a last glance of warning to Jack. Once they were both alone, Cal led the detective upstairs and into his room, leaning against the door frame with a tired smile on her face.
Jack quietly agreed while thinking about how she would steal the keys from him, or even if she would find the gun's ammo. As they got upstairs, Jack smiled dumbly to Caleigh, saying "Good night, Kelly with a 'gh'. See ya tomorrow after brunch."
The next day, as promised, Jack was in time for his meeting with Nora, who was already found waiting on him, sitting aristocratically in a table by the window, cigarette hanging on her right hand and left shoulder against the glass. She looked amazingly bored. As Jack came near he said a shy "Hi." and sat down, looking around for a waitress to serve him the fresh morning coffee. She was, atypically, wearing sunglasses.Â
