Kara winked. It felt, for a moment, almost like normal. If she could just focus on the two of them, and a roof over Delphi.
With that thought, she gripped the metal bars of the ladder and climbed up. It rocked a little against the building, but not much. She didn’t stop until she’d reached the top and climbed over the ledge.
It was so beautiful. To prevent a rush of memories, she cracked the tab of one of Lee’s beers and grinned down at him.
"It’s a hundred percent safe, I promise."
It had better be. Imagine if she were responsible for the deaths of both Adama boys. She actually felt a worried kind of discomfort in her stomach while she looked down at Lee, and bit her lip. She knew she was being crazy, but she almost wanted to shout at him that she’d changed her mind.
"Except for the tetanus injections I'm going to need!" Lee called up after her as he gripped the sides of the ladder and started to make his way towards the top, taking great care with each step because he was already a few drinks in for the day and falling to his death would really make things quite a bit worse.
He was shocked to find that it was a bit easier to breathe when he got to the top. The air was cleaner, his chest felt lighter, or maybe that is just what he told himself. He settled down next to Kara grabbing a drink of his own.
