Odysseus returned to Ithaca a broken man, a shell of the king he was. Trauma beyond comprehension hid behind a wide, toothy smile, behind delirious joy over finally being home. But after finding out that Telemachus - his precious boy - felt uncomfortable and unsafe with his strange behaviour, he made a promise to both his family and himself that he would find help, and he would be whole again, no matter how long it took.

“Whoa. How did you get your hair like that? It’s nice.”

Odysseus did indeed notice the eyepatch, but paid it no mind. He turned to Penelope, slowly and a bit shakily letting go of her arm.

“Are you sure you don’t need me to stay? I’m happy to.”

“I’m sure. I shouldn’t be babysat, Pen. Have a look around, get a lay of the land - it’s been too long since you got to have a break.”

Penelope nodded a bit reluctantly, gave Aarav a brief look, and left, leaving Odysseus alone with the therapist.

Odysseus plopped down onto the couch, fidgeting with his hands. He tried to think about why he was doing this - for his son. He wanted to get better, so that he and Telemachus could truly bond.

Odysseus smiled back nervously and a bit too widely to be natural.

“Well, I’m Odysseus. I have a wonderful wife and son, who are my everything. I’m the king of Ithaca, and have proudly reigned since the age of thirteen. I fought in the Trojan war. And, uh… I was missing and presumed dead for ten years.”

Can you tell me more about your wife and son?

“Oh! Okay!”

Odysseus was pleasantly surprised; he was expecting to have to jump straight into the doom and gloom.

“Well, I was taken to Sparta when I was seventeen to choose a wife. Everyone wanted me to marry Helen, but she didn’t catch my attention very much at all. She was pretty, yeah, but didn’t have a lot to say. But then, I met Penelope under an olive tree, and I just knew, I needed her to be mine! We got married, I built a whole new palace for us to start a family in, and the rest is history.”

Odysseus sighed happily, before moving onto Telemachus, his joy dampening a bit.

“We had a beautiful, healthy baby boy - Telemachus. But… then I had to go off and fight. I tried everything to dodge the draft, even tried playing a madman, but I was found out. It was only supposed to be for ten years, but then I was lost at sea for another ten… My son was twenty when I finally heard his voice.”

He swallowed, remembering the past few weeks.

“I thought everything would just be normal, once I settled back into Ithaca… but I was mistaken. I don’t… really know that much about Telemachus yet, if I’m honest. We haven’t been able to talk much. I know he’s training with - and dating - Athena, I know he loves his mom, and I believe he plays the lyre… but that’s all.”

Odysseus paused in the middle of eating breakfast, the sudden flurry of words stopping him from falling asleep and faceplanting his plate. He swallowed his mouthful, and peered down at the little one, smiling curiously.

“Well hey there, tiny intruder! I’m Odysseus, King of Ithaca. Who’s this ‘Guppy’ fellow you’re talking of?”

It's Guppy! Some people call him father, but he said I'm allowed to call him sushi man.

Robyn steals his fork, showing him.

He's got this thing, but it's super big, and it only has three pointy bits. You're the guy he doesn't like, right? How come he doesn't like you?

As Robyn snatched his fork from out of his hand, and demonstrated, Odysseus realised.

“Ohhh… you mean Poseidon.”

A light smirk made its way onto his face.

“Well, there was a little drama with me and one of his kids. I stumbled upon his son’s cave while trying to find food, and he tried to kill me - which, by the way, not very xenia of him, right?! We fought, and I ended up blinding him. Poseidon then thought it necessary to torment me for ten years, over that one scuffle!”

Oh. But you went into his house without permission to take his food. THAT doesn't seem very nice, either.

They cross their arms, wanting to protect their father figure.

Odysseus very nearly rolled his eyes at the tot, but narrowly stopped himself, shoving another mouthful of ye olde Greek waffle into his mouth.

“I didn’t know it was his house! I thought it was just some random cave. It was all a huge misunderstanding, kid.”

But you didn't leave! You just stayed and then blinded him! That isn't nice! In his own house? That isn't nice!

They were getting louder now, trying to explain to him how not nice it was.

“H-he wasn’t going to just let me leave by that point anyway! He was going to kill me, he- he was gonna kill us!”

The mod was genuinely a nice person from what I saw who genuinely managed to put a smile on a lot of people's faces. The fact they got banned from the app is just horrible in my opinion

OKAY CHAT REALLY OOC POST BUT JUST KNOW THAT THE MOD FOR TICKLE ANON IS OKAY. I’m in a server and they joined it and they told us once the thing happened and we’re all deviated but they assured us that even if we can’t get this cleared up with tumblr, they’d make another tickle anon!

It’s really horrible they got banned- very terrible, the mod is nice and silly in a good way- and they definitely intend on coming back and just making a new one, if they can’t get this fixed. We already all had a freak out a couple of hours ago but I guess my post about them never sent? Anyways- just know they’re fine

While Telemachus and Odysseus sat together and continued to talk things out, Penelope had managed to sneak away.

She sat in a quiet spot in the hall, away from any palace staff, and quietly cried. She held one hand on her small baby bump, and in her other, she tightly squeezed a handkerchief, occasionally dabbing at her tear-stained face.

Penelope blinked, slightly startled by the visitor. She had seen tickle anon around once or twice, but wasn’t overly familiar with them. Regardless, she leaned into the comforting touch.

“… Mm-hm… worry not, I-I am-“

She tried to say ‘well’, but a soft hiccup cut her off, and she wiped her eyes once more, with a small sniffle.

You are crying. Tell me, what's the matter?

(They rub their hand up and down her back, in comforting circles. Every now and then, they'd let their hand change so the nails were gently raking across her, tickling her gently.)

Penelope’s chest rose and fell irregularly as she tried to breathe normally, the constant shudders making it difficult. She didn’t seem to react to the tickles beyond just being soothed - hmm, maybe she wasn’t as ticklish as her husband.

She took her time, before eventually managing to speak.

“I-I’ve found out… that I haven’t been a v-very good mother lately. Or wife.”

A flurry of laughter erupted from Odysseus, as his tickle spot was suddenly targeted so mercilessly. That was exactly how he liked it, sudden and without mercy!

While he didn’t fight the tickles themselves, he did change their position, turning around and throwing his own arms around Tkl. It seemed that the king wanted extra physical affection - tickles and cuddles!
