WiP - Cross Marian - Pants & Basic Shirt
or: the tale of the most annoying pants.
Day started fine i had prepped the pieces for the pants and the shirt and was super eager to work on Cross. I had started on the wig the day prior and alright.
First attempt ended after a few seams as I noticed he needs more seam allowance bc he's too thicc.
Alright second attempt, went fine so far, nice seams everything looked good.
But then I had ... that weird situation. I was not able to close the pants after adding the beltline and there was no way I would even fit a shirt into those pants.
So waisted a lot of time on these pair just to ... throw them into the trash in the end.
The third pair refused to be sewn at the beginning, the fly was acting up multiple times and at this point I just was driven by the force to wanting to finish this. It's not as clean as the one before as I just was fed up and decided not to do some extra work in case the pants would be ill fitting again. The crotch seam was wonky too but at this point I just wanted some pants and told myself I can redo them later.
Believe it or not but we have fitting pants. Nice looking one on top.
I put in the button for closure and took a break to search for more references as I wasn't sure about the pants/boots/buckle situation.
Turns out he has knee high boots without belts, but then straps up the legs and then some buttons to secure them and I don't know but guess it's a fashion choice.
The farbic for the straps did not arrive that day and as it was sundays I had to wait for the next week to continue here.
And it turned out that Cross has two shirts for the cassock a plain basic one (the one I was planning to sew anyways) and then one with frills, I had planned to make later but most likely will do sooner as I can't work on the straps anyways.
What brought me to the easier of the two pieces, the basic shirt.
The progress was very straight forward as you can see, not many steps, basic shirt, basic sewing progress.
Putting in the sleeves, closing the last seams. I decided to fully close it and pull it over the doll head when removed to reduce bulk from closures.
Here we are! The base outfit.
Next up is the cassock and the other shirt.
