What do you think those strange ‘side pieces’ are attached to Emre’s temples? A way for Chernobog to override Emre? Communications? A mix of several things?
It seems it a lot of official art they don’t come off so could be cybernetic attachments.

my unpopular opinion lol
his eyes are implants, and the parts on his head are connectors linking to the rest of the hardware under the skin
+ i think emre filled his body with cybernetics himself, not because of chernobog -> and that was kind of the whole problem, because if emre had less cybernetics in his body by the time he encountered chernobog, he could've removed it/replaced it/done whatever.
but the issue was that he gradually did it himself over time, which eventually left him in a situation where there was simply too much of it, making the ai takeover possible

honestly the eye color is one of the main reasons i came to that conclusion + the lines running from them to the eyes? + considering his combat experience, it feels like a pretty logical choice, since darkness/recognition and stuff like that just stop being a concern.
*i'll say even more, i actually attribute hazard's eye color change to the same reason, and assume his facial plates serve a similar function -> i think in both cases it's all connected to the spine, where everything could interface with the central nervous system

the first logical reason i don't stick to the more common interpretation is exactly that if emre hadn't already been using a pretty significant amount of cybernetics BEFORE chernobog - an ai takeover would've been basically impossible, because you wouldn't actually be dependent on it. no cybernetics -> nothing to hijack. so to end up fully under an ai's control, you already have to be in a position where getting rid of the cybernetics isn't really an option anymore and where your body is dependent on enough of it.
i'm just not really inclined to attribute everything to chernobog - i actually like the theme of human mistakes more)) you don't have to be an ai to become deeply aware of how fragile the human body is, so i usually imagine pretty much the same motivation - especially once you've left overwatch and are working alone. it wasn't necessary, but it let him do more on his own - so instead of body horror, i lean more toward the theme of realizing your own mistakes / realizing that you yourself literally led things to this point / reevaluating what even counts as "weakness"
-> which doesn't rule out the idea that there was more cybernetics after chernobog, but more that he had already cut off his own way back through choices that felt more "practical" at the time
speaking of the opposite interpretation, where he never intended to have cybernetics in the first place - this is actually where i start thinking more about the Conspiracy angle

especially considering that chernobog itself may have originally had nothing to do with the conspiracy at all (+we don't actually know for sure)

the whole topic of "security" and human existence in general, because it humanizes chernobog through questions like "why did you apologize?"/ "why didn't you delete yourself?", which could lead to an answer like
"because i didn't want to be deleted"
because its actions put other people's lives at risk & for an AI, that's actually a pretty interesting logical paradox. themes of cycles of violence, the impossibility of absolute security because humans exist at all, etc
we already know they're monitoring overwatch, so POSSIBLY they simply identified emre as a suitable candidate (who could later be sent into talon as well)
considering he literally started working alone and, as we know, received plenty of offers, maybe one of them came from someone connected to the conspirators -> and he spent months there while his body was gradually modified to become compatible with the AI, with no memory of it afterward -> the memory gaps are caused by medical intervention rather than the AI connection itself (at least initially) - i think about this version a lot too, especially in relation to sombra / jack / emre
