!!! alex danvers waking up tied to a chair with the lasso of truth with every ugly jealous thing she’s ever thought spilling out of her mouth surrounded by women too celestial to be mortals but too earthly to be aliens and oh god she’s going to die isn’t she? and she’ll never make up with eliza and she’ll never prove hank’s belief in her was right and she’ll never see kara become a hero and eliza and kara’s memory of her will be a lie and she doesn’t cry and she doesn’t beg she just tilts her chin up and waits for her death but for some reason the woman who the other women call queen spares her life (alex can’t see this but behind her is a woman who’d stayed silent for the whole procedure but who’d held the queen’s gaze throughout this woman is the reason alex is alive) hippolyta makes her an offer: stay to yourself and follow our instructions and we will build you a boat so you can travel back to your home and alex tries she really does but there are plants and animals on this island that have been extinct for centuries and there are pieces of writing that she’s never seen translations of and there are weapons that she’s never even seen before and one day that alex has slipped her handlers she finds a sword laying in the grass and holds it aloft in front of her ‘that sword is too big for you’ a voice says from behind her and alex yelps it’s the one woman on the island who alex has never properly met the one who always leaves the room when alex enters and who alex has never seen smile she’s smiling now ‘if you can make it to the woods tonight’ the woman says ‘i will teach you how to use a sword better suited to you’ the woman’s name is diana and she is a fair if easily distracted teacher and she is awe-inspiringly strong and fast and inventive and alex is reasonably sure that she could beat kara in a fight (and as the lessons go on alex slowly realises that now /alex/ could probably beat kara in a fight) and when hippolyta finally finds them instead of punishing them she just sighs and tells alex to get herself measured for training armour and when alex danvers finally returns to national city she does so with a sword strapped to her back and a new friend at her side (via @yesokayiknow)

Alex would spill the beans about the DEO in only a little more time than the average human takes to crack under the lasso, but the moment Hippolyta asks about Kara she goes completely quiet and she holds on for so long that the amazons can tell that this is a truth that Alex would happily die protecting. When they finally hear that she is protecting her sister, they are deeply moved, and very impressed.
