Is there anything you do before going on stage to sing?
Before a show, I usually just lock myself in the restroom with some music and try to get myself in the zone. But depending on what part of the world we’re touring, I may or may not also be fighting a different kind of battle… 🥲
A good luck kiss from my wife has recently become part of the routine, and honestly I think it’s working so we are definitely not changing that. Oh, and a quick stretch too, so I don’t end up hurting myself again!
if you weren't an artist, what would you have done with your life instead?
Getting myself into loads of trouble, most likely. I’d probably still be working at a restaurant or behind a bar, since that’s what I was doing before Toru found me and roped me into joining OOR.
I’ve actually been living between Tokyo and Los Angeles for the last ten years already! Would I consider moving to LA permanently? Probably not... At least not with the way things are right now. That said… during our time in Italy, we may have been casually looking at a few houses over there…
What are your three favorite things about your wife?
ONLY THREE THINGS?! That’s tough… I genuinely love everything about this woman, even the things she doesn’t love about herself. But if I had to pick just three out of a million…
1. She’s got a heart of gold. She brings so much light into my life. Have you seen that smile?? It’s literally impossible to have a bad day when she’s around. She has this incredible way of lifting people up, and she’s always there to cheer me on, lift me up, and make me feel like a puny guy like me can take on the world.
2. She’s strong as hell! She’s been through more than most people know, and instead of letting it break her, she used it to become stronger. She built her business from the ground up and managed to carve out a place for herself in an industry that’s anything but easy. She’s driven, fearless, and when she sets her mind on something, she gets it done. Plus, I’m convinced that she could beat up most people… in high heels and her makeup still on fleek! Trust me, you do not want to mess with her!
