Since I haven’t posted anything new with the concept yet, here’s some (very rough) sketches I had of the idea of Yoichi and AfO being raised by a street dog in their earliest years. Here’s some other headcanons i have to go along with this concept.

Mama Dog is a mixed breed, but she is most heavily based off a Shikoku Ken.

While puppies are depicted in one drawing, I decided that Mama’s puppies were still born and she gravitated towards adopting Yoichi and Zen because of her fresh maternal instincts. (I couldn’t get over the idea that Zen would definitely pull a Cuckoo chick and that felt too depressing)

Mama dog died when Yoichi and Zen were about four or five, roughly right before the scene where Zen kicks Yoichi. She died from wounds inflicted by a meta hunter trying to kill Yoichi while Zen was food hunting. He came back just in time to protect Yoichi, but her wounds were too great. Zen kept her skull well into his teens, but kept it hidden because it upset Yoichi.

While Yoichi and Zen could speak in limited words from observing people, they mimicked dog behavior for years. It only really stopped when they started integrating into human society as teens, and they would still often bare their teeth to each other when arguing alone.

Yoichi definitely knew before this that AfO was still alive from still being with All Might, but the scene was too fitting. I know he was having a crisis in the void.

Wanted to share one of my dumb TikToks of the Shigaraki brothers as kids. Yoichi learned how to read first and was therefore was learning survival through books while Zen learned through trial and error.

This has two endings:

1 where Zen listens and empties his gut while remaining certain that he would have been fine

Or

2 he stubbornly insists he’ll be fine and then proceeds to get sick and Yoichi has to take care of him for the next day

Finally finished these guys! Here’s Yoichi, Kudo, Bruce, and All for One as canines. Yoichi and AfO are Northwestern Wolves, Kudo is a German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois cross, and Bruce is an Irish Wolfhound.

Drawing I’m working on for my concept of an All Might/AFO RoleSwap AU. Here’s Hero!AFO with a young Keigo, freshly taken in by the HPSC. Basic idea so far is that, while AFO works with the HPSC and has done so for decades, he has a lot more power than it says on paper. He also doesn’t take kindly to grooming children (wow this really is a role swap huh) and basically takes care of Nagant and Keigo as his wards while overseeing their training and trying to make sure they don’t get too screwed up in the process. He’s already raised Nagant to adulthood, she’s about 23 while Keigo is 7.
