La Escuela Normal Rural de Ayotzinapa es un modelo de educación popular, autogestionada, horizontal y consciente que es digna de admirar. Tiene sus orígenes en un proyecto gubernamental de Lázaro Cárdenas en los años 20 del siglo pasado, que tenía como finalidad masificar la educación mediante la creación de escuelas normales que permitieran formar profesores rurales. Es así que en 1926 se funda Escuela Normal Rural Raúl Isidro Burgos (que es su nombre oficial), la cual se ha mantenido, a pesar de una serie de hechos y procesos históricos de por medio, en un verdadero gesto de resistencia hasta el día de hoy. Constantemente atacada por el abierto carácter combativo y los altos niveles de conciencia política de sus estudiantes, la Escuela Normal Rural de Ayotzinapa ha tenido que enfrentar tanto la represión como la indiferencia de las autoridades. De la segunda forma de agresión, llevada a cabo principalmente negando el financiamiento, es que los estudiantes normalistas han desarrollado formas de autogestión, en donde ellos son protagonistas de la obtención de fondos para los gastos de la escuela y manutención personal. Siembran, cosechan y crían animales para poder financiarse, así como también realizan colectas con los mismos fines.

On friday September 26th studens of Raul Isidro Burgos de Ayotzinapa were protesting in Iguala Guerrero when they were brutally attacked by the local police, leaving 6 dead, over 20 injured, and 43 missing students (Here’s the testimony of one of the survivors ). It’s been a month, and this is only the most recent event that shows the systematic oppression and violation of our human rights. In 2011 students from the same school were tortured by the police of the state, not to mention the abducted and later executed in 2013, events in which by the way, Jose Luis Abarca Velazquez was also involved (Mayor of Iguala). Our government does not protect us, social leaders, humans rights defenders, & journalists have been persecuted by the state. There is currently a petition for our president to resign his position (X), this does not mean it will happen but it is important for us to take action and speak up against these crimes and lack of justice being committed, because we are tired of the impunity and corruption in our country and because the families of the missing students and the people don’t deserve it, so please the best way of helping is by raising your voice!! Café Tacvba también exige justicia para normalistas de Ayotzinapa.

Café Tacvba fue una de las primeras bandas en manifestarse y exigir justicia por los normalistas de Ayotzinapa.

Los integrantes de la banda han participado activamente en manifestaciones, además de pedir justicia publicamente a través de redes sociales y entrevistas.

También, en el arranque de su gira, desplegaron una manta en el Olympia Theater de Miami Florida, con un mensaje que decía “Todos Somos Ayotzinapa #43ConVida”.

Quizás siempre he sido un tanto apático con estos temas, ahora no estoy en mi país y puedo ver desde otra perspectiva todo el asunto y de verdad que es lamentable todo lo que ha estado ocurriendo con el caso de los 43 normalistas desparecidos pero no solo estos meses atrás, todos los años que poco a poco ese cáncer ha estado consumiendo nuestro país. Estos es un poco de lo que puedo hacer para demostrar el apoyo a México existe aunque nosotros estemos fuera.

Crisis in Mexico: The Disappearance of the Forty-Three - The New Yorker

The disappearance of forty-three students of the Ayotzinapa Normal School has aroused horror, indignation, and protest throughout Mexico.

I am quite worried that only few tumblr users from the non spanish speaking part of tumblr, and the oh so called social justicers haven’t said a word about what is going here in Mexico, so if the whole it’s in spanish I won’t aknowledge it is an issue I will leave this link to the New Yorker…
