I LOVE MAKING THESE SMALL BOOKS. A friend taught me how and then I met another friend who makes them and then and then and then!
First one is THE PAJAMA PARTY, the other picture was inspired by a book: ACCIDENTAL SAINTS: FINDING GOD IN ALL THE WRONG POEPLE by Nadia Bolz- Weber. The author talked about her demons. I named my demon, Doris. I started a book of demons and then I had to have good ones too. I then need a title and didn’t really like demons (too dark) so, with the help of another friend, came up with MONSTERS AND FAIRIES.
Watercolor painting of violins. A very dear friend is now the owner of this painting.
This is Mr. Moose. He is made out of watercolor, collage, paint, marker and anything else I could find. Last week I spoke about my different series of artwork. This is from my western series, which is one of my favorites. Enjoy.
My artwork tends to fall into different series. This is from my A SLICE OF LIFE. I painted (acrylic) this after one of my many trips to NYC. I am fascinated with people and love to look at all the different people and guess about their lives.
This is a woodblock print inspired by the Royal Sonesta Hotel where i saw a painting of a pineapple. Every time I go to Boston I stay at the Royal Sonesta to admire their pineapple. i do like mine better.
Drypoint etching, then watercolored. I love doing these. This could possibly be part of another children’s book.
It”s Pasta Night!. I am such a carb person. Pasta and potatoes are my favorite go to. I also love to create artwork that is food related. This is a woodblock print of one of my favorites.
I just spent the weekend in Boston at an incredible event-our daughters wedding. The setting was beautiful, the ceremony was so heartfelt. The people-it was wonderful to be with a zillion people that we cared about and that cared about us. So wonderful. The food was over the top! And our new son-in-law is the BEST. This is why I am doing this flower. First of all, I am tired and couldn’t be as creative as I would have liked. But this painting/collage, makes me happy and cheerful, just like my weekend.
My newest piece. This is made from a woodblock print onto dyed fabric. i then added other fabric and quilted it. Then came the hanging device and the beads. I am very pleased, I wish you could see it in person. It is one of my new favorites.
Even CowGirls Get the Blues. I loved doing this piece. I started with the clay pieces and then got a big canvas, 40 X 40 and collaged paper over a painted background. I then added Charlotte. I can’t imagine why she is unhappy. Perhaps because she wanted her horse and I didn’t put him in.
I did this acrylic painting quite a while ago. It is the Memories of photographs which are reminiscent of my daughter, who is getting married at the end of this month and ready to start a new phase of her life.
Starting Friday, August 5, join the 67th Street printmakers for our show, THE PRINTED CITY.
This is my version of THE PRINTED CITY entitled, CITY ART. A print collage.
My friend Lisa wanted us to do this together. Somehow, it didn’t seem to work out so I entered myself. This is the second year for The Carmel Indiana Utilities Department Rain on Main contest. Artists are given a rain barrel to paint any way they want The barrels will be auctioned off to raise awareness of water quality and conservation. The barrels will be on display Saturday, August 1, at the Carmel Farmers Market and then starting August 13 they will be on display on Main Street in the Carmel Arts & Design District.
This is Bee. She is a wood block print with a bunch of number and letter also printed. This was so HARD. I made it so difficult but I am pleased with the results. I then watercolored her.
This blog entry is late because I wanted to make sure this gift arrived! The mail service took FOREVER! This is Mandra the Moose, a quilt for my new niece, whose name is Arya. isn’t that beautiful a beautiful name! When she is too big to use it, she can use it for her dolls or put it on her wall.
I have been quilting again. This is an all American thing to show on the 4th of July. Some of these fabrics i dyed with the help of my friend Jane and some are from my scrap pile. I am trying to use up all the extras but I seem to keep needing just one more piece! THEY ARE MULTIPLYING!!!
