Video taping grade 5 projects
Over this weekend (5th-7th of February), I've sent emails too several teachers and I've received replies from them. I will interview them either tomorrow on Monday or the Friday after. I realized that I need to develop my formal writing skills, which are at the moment very un-developed. I am not very efficient when writing these emails. It takes a lot of effort and time for me to write one.
Painting Library pillars
On the 12th and the 13th of February, we were able to start and process further on our first pillar design. It is based on on the Dewey decimal system. We are about half way done with it and will continue to work and finish it, if, best by the end of this week. We also used an image to give us inspiration for our design. It is an image of a previous design of the Dewey decimal system. We will need to cite the source accordingly.
On the 18th of January 2016, my partner, Tem and I have met with our supervisor and discussed and planned an outcome of this activity. An outcome is to have at least two library pillars fully painted with illustrations that will promote the use of the dewey decimal system.We came up with a design. We are going to creatively paint the different sections of the dewey decimal system onto the wall with a neutral colored background.
Football CCA (1st to 3rd Grade)
First Reflection: Today, the 15th of september, I started to help out with the cca. It went well, but we found some difficulties while the cca. First problem there were a large amount of children. We would need to split these then up into first two then four different groups. We first had two teams facing off each other, but most of the children weren't able to be present in the game due to the teams still being to large. After the second separation of the teams, everyone was finally incorporated into the game and was able to play. Later on we switched the goal keepers a couple of times because the children that were a goalkeeper for an amount of the time would rarely play, rather they would wait until one team, usually after a long period of time would shot the ball into the goal. The only two jobs were saving the shot and kicking out the ball. There was not a lot of action happening for them. That's why we switched them around. Also next time we would need to distinguish the teams more clearly with colored tees or strips in two different colors that would go around the waist to identify on which team they were on. Most of the time some of the children did not know their teammates, which led to confusion between the children.
Tuesday the 6th of October, I have attended every single Tuesday to help out with the football cca. I can consider myself one of the leading positions in the cca. This statement is true because I was able to single handedly lead one of the two football pitches we use to let the children play, which usually is lead by two CAS students. We divide them up into 4 groups due to them being in a large number and the fields then being to small for them all to play at once. I did get a suggestion from some of the children to let them plat with larger goals. They were telling me this so they would be able to score more goals and appreciate the cca more. For the next scheduled day of the cca I will implicate these suggestions. Until now the cca has been a great learning experience for the children, they did learn more about the rules of football, while having more fun.
The last day of the CCA was the 10th of November 2015. On this day we finished the cca by having a large match of two teams rather than four. We played across the football field with the larger goals which was a favor asked by the children. Their reasoning was that the smaller goals meant to train their shooting skills, were to small and would restrict the amount of fun in the cca. These children are very small and they need the fun as a motivation. That's why we planned and placed the goals across each other and made the playing field be one of the half's on the football field. We finished off the cca by playing a game to test their new improved skills.
Fitness #2 /teaching reflections
I was the first peer to start the first cycle. I had two lessons on basketball where in each I first practiced essential basketball skills and then the peers utilized these tought skills and we played a match. I was able to recognize how being active in this activity is a required skill that I've acquired for being a better teacher.
Fitness #1 reflections
Since the last four fitness lessons we have started to implicate a change. We changed the responsibility of planning the fitness lessons to the students them selves as a learning experience of being a leader. I was the first person to have the responsibility. Every lesson a different person has the responsibility of choosing activities we have and will complete in those lessons.
I attended from this week one of the two fitness classes and on Friday. I am going to attend the other one. I have not yet went to fitness in this week, but I am going to go Thursday and I will try to go to fitness on saturday if I am able to. I have been already regularly going to fitness after school twice a week.
The last week and this week, it was hard to show commitment to going to fitnesse due to large amount of after school work. I did attend the fitness during school time, where we mainly develop our own fitness by playing volleyball games. This does develop my endurance in sports and my fitness in general. This is an implication we have made for our fitness workout to give not only develop the body by lifting weights and improving specific musle groups but then further on improving the endurance of our muscles and our stamina, which is a part of the fitness of our bodies. Separately from the school fitness program, I went on Tuesday for an hour long training. I did undertake new challenges such as lifting weights in a different order to develop muscle growth. It consists of first of course warming up an running 5 - 10min long on the treadmill but then when lifting the weights I would first start off by lifting less weight for 12 times than increasing the weight to my standard prescribed weight that I should train with and repeat the exercise for a set of 10-8 times. Than increase the weight again for a set of 6 repetitions and then increase the weight again to 4 repetitions in a set. This is a new way to develop myself and develop muscle growth.
CCA Photography presentations #reflections
First reflection: Today and usually further on until I am allowed to shot photos after school for the ccas I can not shot any photos of the CCAs. However I will soon ask Ms. Bain if in the next couple of weeks I can skip the Football cca to take photos. Tomorrow I am going to start with taking photos of the ccas. Hopefully I will be able to get photos of all of the ccas going on. Furthermore today Anuka was able to take some videos.
Today, I have been able to take all of the photos needed to make the presentations. In the time period of 2 weeks I will complete the presentation together with Anuka. We will then present the presentation as a video on the message board at the front of the school entrance after the cca's finish.
Anuka has started to work on creating the video. At the moment I am not able to actively participate in the process of creating the video because we are using imovie and I do not have a working mac book, which supports the video file. We want to meet up on the 6th to finish the work before the ccas end. The reason we also take a large amount of time to finish this assignment is because of other responsibilities we both have to complete with after school work. This is also one the reasons, we try to meet up on the weekends to work on the assignment.
Today the 16th of October me and my partner want to meet up and create the video together. However, due to a lack of communication that did not occur.
As a result Anuka was able to make a video and it was presented on the information screen at the entrance of our school. However, due to our lack of communication I did not participate in the process of making the video. I will improve my time management skills for my next CAS projects and create more specified plans, which I will follow.
