Finished off the resin/fibreglassing room, for the dust free environment. It also acts as a smaller space that we can heat up to aid in the drying time of the resin. Need each layer to dry solid (around 24 hours) so the resin doesn’t go cloudy

To surf the board or not surf the board while fiberglass is incomplete!
New idea. Poster was amateur but we’ve now created a poster on the front of a table/plinth that will hold our process book, it also allows us to have more of an overall aesthetic. And add some of the designs in to the table. The scale is larger and should let the audience engage with it easier
Sand and shells to fill the engraved sections. Also going to add a border around them. After the slots have been routered out.
Placement of engraved insets. Looking for a balanced yet randomly placed feel.
Planing to create the flatness needed. Also adding a curve on the underside. To create the lift/float needed in the ocean
So close... Definitely needs some sanding and then two more coats of resin. Note to self never use hands without gloves to cover board/fibreglass in resin. Come a long way from the beginning, only thing missing is a rocker (The curve in the board)
Both never fibreglassed before but more than happy to give it a go.. Maybe should of looked into fibreglassing a bit more before we begun.
All varnished, abstract laser cut cedar pieces slotted in place and fins all ready to go!
Imperfectly Perfect
After weeks of trying to perfect the shape. width etc we asked a family friend who is a builder for some help/advice and he has helped us fix up all the things that were fixable and we are making beauty out of the imperfections on the board that we have created. Still running tight for time.
Una Tabla - Imperfectly Perfect
Changed our name to something much more fitting for our project.
Router..
Destroyed sections of the board trying to use router.. Late night beach missions to get black sand and shells to fill in the gaps that make a border around each individual piece of cedar.
Puzzling/slotting in the main purpose of the project onto the deck of the board. Varnished the board to bring out the colours in the different woods.
Welcome to my life again and for the last time all nighters! So close but so far!
second lot of designs cut.. Just waiting to be able to slot them into board
After gluing sanding has taken over our lifes... 2 1/2 weeks of sanding between work, other papers and our personal life’s. Starting to take a bit of shape though. Still a long way to go within a week and a half. Puzzling in lasercut inlays in week 12.
What the board looked like prior to any sanding or shaping. Long way to go!
