Work in progress 👩🏽💻🙇🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️
Try not take things for granted kiddos . Print by grandma and her palz
Final images
Reflecting on how far we've come. This beaut was once a pile of scrap pallets out back of mitre 10
Una tabla - imperfectly perfect. Yes she's not perfect but she rocks it. A lot more fitting and it really embodies the project as a whole. Being such a handcrafted project everything has been a new skill added, fibreglassing, sanding, cutting, planeing etc. and this all adds to the story of the creation of the physical embodiment.
Fibre glass test to see if we could sand beneath the cloth. Result yes we can, but we may need to do a few layers on top of the weave to really get rid of the material pattern
Finished off the resin/fibreglassing room, for the dust free environment. It also acts as a smaller space that we can heat up to aid in the drying time of the resin. Need each layer to dry solid (around 24 hours) so the resin doesn't go cloudy
New idea. Poster was amateur but we've now created a poster on the front of a table/plinth that will hold our process book, it also allows us to have more of an overall aesthetic. And add some of the designs in to the table. The scale is larger and should let the audience engage with it easier
Poster draft. Too informal. We wanted a raw look but it shall be up scaled and more detailed.
Sand and shells to fill the engraved sections. Also going to add a border around them. After the slots have been routered out.
Placement of engraved insets. Looking for a balanced yet randomly placed feel.
Planing to create the flatness needed. Also adding a curve on the underside. To create the lift/float needed in the ocean
Measuring to perfect the symmetry and curvature. Definitely a repetitive process. Needing to check that everything is still aligned.
Clamping the sections together, to create the whole board. Whilst adding dowel to strengthen from the middle. Preventing splitting down the glue lines.
Time lapse of the afternoons activities
