Ryan's Year in Review: 2013
I was out for drinks last night, and was having a conversation about how my friend's hen's egg production was going, which was pretty boring, but OK. Randomly Mike texted me to let me know he was looking at the old Antilogy blog. It was pretty serendipitous, because I was just thinking about how old and weird I felt. We thought it would be cool to bring it back, but not too far back. So this is my best of. Maybe the first post I've made since my best of 2012. Blogging is a kids game.
I just realized I'm super horrible at BOLs (we're calling 'em BOLs from here on out) because my memory is super shitty. What movies came out in 2013? Armageddon? I wish. You should know my favorite movies are major studio summer blockbusters, of the disaster variety, a la Jurassic Park, Independence Day, etc. So along those lines, I'll say Pacific Rim. I was jamming on that shit so hard... really hooting and hollering.

"Well, we didn’t go to The Fest this year, so it’s real slim pickins. So, I’ll go with one I’m pretty sure happened in 2013. Matt’s band Such Hounds played a show in Brooklyn. All the pals showed up. But like four bands played before them, so they played way late. They had only played for like 12 minutes before the sound guy told them they needed to stop or else he would cut all the mics. Everyone started booing and matt said, “Fuck it. They want us to stop but we we’re gonna play one more song for all our friends. This is called Cement. It’s about my dead mom.” Then they played Cement which right as they were about to go into the epic ender with gang vocals, they cut the power. So all the pals, just rushed on stage and did an epic sing along and like fell all over the drums as stuff. Very memorable."

Whoa daddy. Well I got married this year to a person I am absolutely positive I should have married.. so there's that. It was a heavy duty year for me. I'll say reading my wedding vows, and seeing my emotional counterpart staring at me with tear-filled eyes, all while realizing, because of this moment, my life was a complete success. Fucking serious biz.
Best Moment with your Friends:
Again, this wedding pretty much shaped my year. My bachelor party was out of control. My friends and I are on the border of being douchers, but we aren't quite there. I will end up in a strip-club, but don't seek them out. So the party wasn't Atlantic City, tits and coke, nervous man-energy. This party was different. Mike and Jim told me they had been working on it since they found out I got engaged. Super cool. The party itself was a series of challenges all around New Paltz, with each challenge created by one of my homies. One was diving off a cliff for the first time, one was drive my motorcycle 100 mph for the first time, we explored creepy caves, went skateboarding at old New Paltz skate spots, ate cheeseburgers, drank beers, smoked cigarettes, and had "The #1 guy challenge". It was super "me-centric". Most people know I'm totally attention starved, so having all my best bros cheering me on for a whole day was more than I could have ever asked for. Then the rest of the weekend we played golf. It was very "You're getting married".

Biggest Loser for bringing nothing but positivity. New Girl for proving you can still make an awesome sitcom. Breaking Bad for ending as close to perfectly as possible. I also rewatched the entire series of LOST, which is even better the second time. Love that shit.
Dave and Leslie's farmhouse. No TV, barn with chickens in it, cool furniture, a chess game currently being played on a designated table, big yard. These are the things you pick up on when you pass 30. V adult, V boring.
Kate and I go to the Plaza Diner on Saturdays and get Souvlaki. I always look forward to that. I would say the food from the wedding, because it was made by NORTH, and I had been meaning to eat their food since they started, but I made took 5 bites. Unreal pulled pork, though.
Time you got the most drunk
Bachelor party. Near sleeping standing up against a brick wall, while Mike is whisper-yelling at me that we can do whatever I want, and we should get a limo and go to Atlantic City. I was just too fucked up.
Emily Blunt. I fucking love her big time. She probably was in a bunch of stuff in 2013, but I'm think The Five Year Engagement.
Best thing you saw on Instagram
I was recently thinking about how boring Instagram is lately. Maybe it comes with the territory, but my IG this year was selfies, dogs, food, and bragging about how you are at a fucking Atmosphere show or some shit. GRANTED, mine is all those things, but c'mon, give me something. Why didn't we have instagram when we went to Vegas?? That would have been some intense gramming. Cosmopolitan buffet with a funny caption about how you have to take a shit? Gold.
Coolest thing you did this year
Lost a bunch of weight and got married. Both things major, and deserve more delving into, but I'm pretty over writing all this.
Green satin pants, black velvet blazer. Wearing that shit to a wedding coming up. I look real nice. Also, I'm going hard on bubble coats like it's Harlem in '94.
