I agree. The original was so much better! There was a light to the original Eric. I felt more for that Eric than this one. This movie was darker than the original and the original was pretty dark. I haven't read the comics so I'm not sure which is more accurate, but the original was just BETTER. I know everyone has their own interpretation of a character, but . . . The first one "It can't rain all the time" he had optimism even after death. He cared about other things even after death. He cared about the girl he looked after sometimes (Sarah?) and even tried to make her life better by purging the drugs out of her mom's system. The original Eric was fueled by the pure love that the 2024 one just didn't have. (the movie even talked about it when he started doubting in the middle there.) That being said. If I hadn't seen the original, I probably would have really liked this movie. Although the ending was kind of anticlimactic to me. Nowhere near the rooftop fighting of the original.
