If you’re a fan of magic, mystery, colorful characters, found families, fantastical fight scenes, tragic backstories, and some good old fashioned angst, then this is the story for you!
Since August of 2020, I have been committed to writing this light novel based on an original script by myself and my co-creator and best friend, @ask-chaosatem
Each chapter is only a few pages long, and accompanied by at least one original illustration by yours truly. This has truly been a passion project and one I will never forget, and I thank everyone who has shown their support over the years. 💙💜

I ask you then, if what you’ve witnessed in this text doesn’t define what a Creator is capable of, what does? Their skills, their talents? Perhaps, but if you want to know my opinion, what truly makes a Creator is their unwillingness to back down in the face of adversity. The determination to see something through to the end. To Create without fear, and to love every moment of it.
On the outside, Straus and Red are huddled together in the epitome of sweet warmness and comfort. But it seems internally, their minds have linked for the night. Perhaps due to Blazi helping in the final fight, or due to the bond Red and Straus have made together. Either way, they’re enjoying this shared dreamscape they’ve come across. The sky is an ethereal dark blue, and they’re surrounded by crimson roses. They lie among the roses and just…talk.
“So, it’s all done.”, Red starts.
“Mm?”
“I mean- all of our problems. They’re resolved.”
“I guess you could say that.”
“…We came a long way. From Gaia to Synthis, Venus and Crescent, Jupiter…Feros…then Vyz. It’s crazy back then how many people wanted to kill us, but now some of them agree with us…”
“I have a way with words, I suppose.”
“You don’t say~… I don’t know if I ever properly thanked you for your help on the day we met.”
“I might have forgotten if you did.”
“D’oh-“, she pouts, “Hm- well, we are dreaming. I wonder if we can look it up somewhere.”
Sure enough, a screen appears and begins to play exactly that: a memory of their first meeting. Straus helped Red when she was injured, they chatted about life, escaped from the sisters, and he offered her a home with him.
“Wow, I really got to the point.”, says Straus, slightly embarrassed.
“(Someone clearly wanted a girlfriend…) Even then, I never said thank you… You know what.”, she rolls over and looks him in the eyes, “I’m gonna give you a reward that’s long overdue.”
“Eh?”, he blushes.
“You remember that little moment we shared before we fought Jupiter?”
“Yeeeeah?”
She doesn’t say another word, just nuzzles into his face and gives him the best kiss he’s ever gotten. He gives in and just about goes limp inside and out, but returns the affection accordingly.
Red breaks the kiss after a few moments, “Y’know…believe it or not, I started liking you after we defeated Synthis.”
Straus shakes his head to refocus, “Oh…”
“I just couldn’t say it at first because there was so much happening… you gave me everything when I had nothing left…you saved me.”
“It’s the least I could do, I just wanted to help.”
She hugs him, “Well, thank you… I love you for doing that.”
He hugs back and says, “I love you too.”
Well, that’s that. The end of Straus’ story. You have seen his highs and lows, his passions and regrets.
The celebration continues back and Straus and Koto’s Space. Everyone begins to return to their correct Worlds as the last voidlings disappear. Some may not even remember that this happened in the long run. But for now, everyone can rejoice knowing that they just saved- well- everything. Koto’s parents watch as she gleefully prances around, fully enraptured by joy, and the Worlds she and Straus made orbit her in tandem.
“She looks so happy…”, Lazuli observes. She and Kilgore beam at the sight.
Pandora looks down at Straus, who is currently lying down and wrapped up in a blanket, and gently pets his head.
“We haven’t seen her smile like that in ages, your boy is something else.”, says Kilgore.
“Oh, undoubtedly! He’s my son, after all!”, Zeus answers proudly.
Red scooches over and gets herself in the blanket with Straus. The Lightverse Incarnates meet up and join them all. DarkClaw and Ex sit down to participate in the conversation while Uriel jumps over to Koto and joins in their merriment. Castor, however, remembers something, “I should head home. Delta is probably worried.” DarkClaw nods and smiles, “Go for it, kiddo.” He watches as Castor walks over to Uriel and Koto, who stop their romp for a moment to let him go home.
It’s nighttime in the city, and Delta is in bed holding his walkie-talkie. It hadn’t gotten any clear messages in a while, but he still held onto it just in case his heroic buddies needed his help. Just as he’s about to drift off, a signal comes through, and the tiny device sparks awake.
BZZZzzzttt— “Hello? Delta?”
Delta immediately sits up with excitement, “Castor?! Castor is that you?”
“Yeah, it’s me. Good thing this thing still works.”
“Where are you? I’m at home with Mom!”
“Finally home too. The problem has been resolved. Sure, there might be some things that still need to be done, but I’m home.”
“Yay!!”
Delta hears his mother’s voice through the door, “Felix? Are you asleep, or are you talking to that ‘mister hero’ friend of yours again?”
“N-No Mom!”, he quiets down a notch, “Eheh- I’ll see you tomorrow, ok?”
Castor tries to make sure a slight laugh doesn’t go through, “Alright. G’night.”
“Good night!”
Castor clicks his radio off and lays back in his bed. It really is over now; and he played a part in it! Even though he didn’t have the best start, he feels pretty sure he’s a hero now. Or at the very least, someone who can keep up with his allies. He thinks about everyone who has helped him. No matter what they all face together in the future, there’s no way it could compare to this. If this is the worst that this world can offer, everything else will be a cakewalk. He sleeps peacefully that night knowing this.
At the same time, the Wanderers also return home. Night has also fallen here, so Luna can join Nova and Azura as they make their way back to the house. They open the door, quietly sneak in, and all slump down as it closes behind them. Victor comes running down the stairs and looks into the living room, “There you are!!”, he cheers, “They’re back, guys!” Phoenix comes down next and helps them get up and move to the couch, “Good to see you all made it back in one piece. Had us all worried there.” Next is Arin, “Ah-ha! We almost got our butts handed to us, where were you guys that whole time?” Azura grumbles in response. “Only helping to fight the big bad, thank you very much!”, Nova retorts. “Mm-hm!”, adds Luna with a confident nod. Amber comes down and starts healing their wounds, “I’m just glad you’re all safe! Thank goodness!” Seeing that she’s ok, Azura hugs her tight and quickly wipes away some rogue tears. Finally, grouchy Zack sees the madness and simply smiles. Azura, Nova, and Luna joyfully hug each other.
Nathaniel and Kali return to their castle and make haste towards their beds. Upon seeing hers, Kali tumbles into it and sleepily stretches, “I don’t wanna fight anymore…or at least until the next loop.” “I agree.”, says Nathaniel, “I’ve had my fill for now.” Kali snores as she instantly passes out. Nathaniel, amused but not surprised at all, tucks her in; and then comfortably retires to his bed.
Melanie and Amadi lay on a patch of grass in an open field for a change. People are either asleep or still hiding in their homes, so they figure they can treat themselves to a view of the stars tonight. “It feels good to save people, don’t you think so Brother?”, asks Melanie. “Mm-hm.”, Amadi nods, “It’s pleasant.”
As everybody settles in, Koto is the only one left awake. She flicks through different views of the Worlds to ensure everyone is secure before heading off to sleep herself. When she’s done, she’s just about to lay down before her eyes are drawn to Straus…and she gets an idea.
Illumi notices and tries to stop her from staying up later, “(Alright, Mistress. It’s time for you to rest as well-)”
“(Nope- idea.)”
“(Oh stars, please tell me this won’t take long.)”
“(It’ll only take a few minutes!)” Koto readies her creation magic and begins to sketch something, “(Just gotta make a quick blueprint so I remember…)”, She makes a rough drawing of a girl walking through snow. She wears clothes appropriate for the weather and has short, curly, burgundy-colored hair.
“(Who is this, Mistress?)”, Illumi wonders.
“(Oh…just a thought. I’ll talk it over with Straus in the morning. ‘Night, Illumi!)”, and just like that, Koto yawns and goes to sleep.
Vyz has the quintet on the ropes. As much effort as they’ve been putting into this fight, he just hasn’t slowed down! It’s impossible, it’s overwhelming!
Koto gulps down a trickle of her blood as she hovers in the air, “I don’t know… how much longer I can do this, guys…!” Divine Illuminer begins to fail her as she falls backward. “Koto!”, Straus dashes under her to catch her and drops to his knees. Vyz growls, “Burning out already, are we?” Straus grits his teeth and hangs onto Koto, “Never… I’ll never stop!” But Divine Paranormatrix seems just about drained as well. DarkClaw yanks Vyz back and uppercuts him, “It’s ok! Red and us can handle him!”
Vyz turns and slashes at him, “You can’t handle the darkness…”
Red appears and blasts fire at his back, “Try us, then!”
“I’ve already died once ‘cause of you.”, says DarkClaw as he taunts Vyz by holding his arms out, “I ain’t scared of it anymore. And I ain’t scared of you, pal!”
Vyz glares at them, “How unfortunate for you.” With a precise strike, he knocks them away and chases after them. Leaving Straus and Koto to try to recover while the others keep him busy.
Straus, for the first time in this fight, really considers if this is it… at this rate, everyone will perish, or be stuck fighting forever. “I…I can’t…”
Koto breathes heavily, “Brother…there’s still…!”
“(Mistress…)”, Illumi interjects, “(I…don’t know if Para and I have the energy left for that.)”
Para agrees, “(She’s right. I’m out of steam, Straus… I can’t keep up with this…)”
The siblings give each other a frightened look, “(We have to do SOMETHING!)”, they both think.
In a blink, both Paranormatrix and Illuminer shut off completely, and the scales tip again. Our heroes across the vast Multiverse begin to get overwhelmed. Straus stops himself from swearing under his breath as he punches the ground. “No…”, Koto whimpers. Straus watches his friends try to keep themselves up, then looks at Koto as tears fill her eyes.
“(Para…is there really no way we can do that fusion thing again?)”
“(It can buy us time, but it won’t be enough to win… I’m sorry, Straus.)”
…So, is that it, then?
…
Well, would we be here to tell the tale if it was?
Straus locks eyes with Red and hears a new voice. “(I’ll offer you all my energy.)”, says Blazi, “(Just make sure you win this.)”
Red holds out her hand, giving whatever bestial power she has left at that moment to Straus, Koto, Para, and Illumi. As she powers down, she falters but can conscious. It’s a good thing too; because she won’t want to miss what happens next. Vyz is completely oblivious as Straus feels his power return to him, “This… is enough! Koto, Para, Illumi let’s do it!” He and Koto stand up, and she holds his hand, “Thank you… thank you all for your help! We’ll take it from here!” They close their eyes as the fusion commences, and the scales tip one final time. A blue light, brighter than any seen before, shines through the cracks and ravines, through every part of the Void, stretching far and wide across the Multiverse. It is strength, it is perseverance, it is divinity in every sense of the word.
It is Creation.
Vyz shields his eyes, “What the-!? How can this be!?”
Amadi points towards the light’s source, catching a glimpse of their silhouetted form, “Look!”
Uriel’s eyes light up, and she flashes a wide, toothy smile. “It’s them!”, she yips, “THIS FIGHT IS STILL OURS!”
“HERE COMES THE PAIN!”, shouts Nathaniel as the party gets a boost in power.
Red’s eyes sparkle as she watches the fusion finish, “Wow…” Exisite is silent, but his astonishment can be felt through his expression. “HAHA! YUS!!”, DarkClaw laughs.
“We see it now.”, says the benevolent figure as they lightly float midair.
Vyz rolls his (many) eyes, “Who is this now? Or you Straus or Koto?”
“Yes.”
“What are you, some sort of smart aleck?”, Vyz throws his hands back and fires a strong beam of dark energy at them; Which the mysterious being holds their hand out and catches, disintegrating it into nothing, “…Yes.”
Vyz chuckles, albeit losing what’s left of his patience fast, “Hmhmhm… pull whatever cute tricks you want. But I know you can do NOTHING to stand in the way of-“
“HAH!”, he is swiftly interrupted by a fist meeting his face and making him do a triple somersault into the floor. “We’re not ready to give in yet!”
Vyz grips at the broken ground under him, “This is garbage! You will not stand in my way, whoever you are!”
“But everyone knows who I am. I’m why Jupiter lost! Oh- and call us Paralluminer by the way.”, they wink.
“How adorable…you will fall under that name.”
DarkClaw shakes his arm a bit as his Kuro form shuts down, “Hoo… we’re all outta juice here.”
“It’s up to you now.”, says Exisite, also powering down.
Red looks up and pleads with Paralluminer, “Please…come back to us!”, to which they smile and give a thumbs up before flying down at Vyz, grabbing his shirt, and tossing him upwards. The force shatters the sky above them, breaking through into the upper layer of Voidverse; where the others can now witness the grand finale on full display. Even the Stygians momentarily slow their assault to watch their master be thrown around like a toy. However, Vyz soon regains himself and breaks away from Paralluminer. He too starts to float in the air. And as the two stare each other down, the final clash begins.
It truly is a sight to behold. Those unable to see it in person could feel it all around them, the Multiverse at any moment could be split apart. And yet, it was being held together by the smallest threads, people who would not let their home and the lives of everyone be lost forever! Voidverse is being torn asunder, if not for their friends being there, Paralluminer would surely destroy it from the inside out. It’s not like Vyz cared at this point. He could just rebuild it after all, once these pests were dead and gone! They’re locked in on each other, and this one on one is finally an even matchup. Everyone holds their breath as the image of the two titanic forces clash and fire and punch and kick; it’s dizzying just how fast they’re going. Their afterimages appear and disappear as explosions of color and erasure dance along in the air above them. It’s not long until the voidlings get their stamina back and keep up the pressure.
“Oof, it’s a bullet hell up there!”, Ex observes.
“Don’t give in now, everyone!!”, calls Uriel as she shoots lightning.
Nova charges a laser and fires, “None of us will!”
“OUR FAITH WILL NEVER FALTER!”, declares Azura.
Paralluminer looks down for a moment. As Vyz charges at them once more, they catch their fist and use their other hand to make them look down at the battlefield below. “See all this teamwork happening? It was earned through love, appreciation, and friendship. You just sat there, hating, fueled by anger and revenge. And what has that darkness brought you!? Nothing but fear and loneliness! We want to help you start anew!”
Vyz watches as the very last of his servants begin to die off one by one. He roars and forcefully breaks away from them, “You can’t fix the broken! You delude yourselves thinking the world is great, but it’s all black and white!”
“It’s more than that! The world is made of so much more, can’t you see it?”
He holds his head in anger, “The rules of fate decide what we are the moment we’re born. And if we’re made to be different, we suffer the consequences. Because that is the fate of those who are unique, like Straus and I. And YOU of all people should have seen that! But I am different! I will make those who destroyed me suffer the same fate! And if Straus won’t join me, then he’ll suffer the same fate he was given all those years ago! Why can’t you just accept that this is reality?!”
Paralluminer sighs, “…Wrong answer.”
“Stop talking and fall!”
“Never.”
“I’ll teach the whole Multiverse how wrong it’s been to us! Once I get my hands on all of creation, those stupid fools will be punished!”
The battle continues, but as Vyz is further consumed by his rage, Paralluminer can’t help but feel…concerned? Apprehensive? Regretful? What is this feeling, exactly?
“(Are we really going to have to…kill him?)”, asks Koto.
“(Hmm…)”, Straus thinks on it. Will they have to? “(He’s about as corrupt as it gets…)”
There’s absolutely no way they can make him change his mind, so what’s left? How can they defeat them without breaking their one rule? They’ve tried everything, haven’t they? Well, there’s one more thing. Either way, it will end his suffering; it’s just a matter of how much it could hurt.
On the outside, everyone is unnerved to see Paralluminer zoned out. Now?! Of all the times to be lost in thought, NOW? Vyz seizes the opportunity to grab their head and do the opposite of what they did to him: slamming them back through the floor, back to the lower layer. As their face creates a crater in the dirt, Vyz leans down and hisses, “You…will learn…!”
Paralluminer points upwards, and says muffled, “I think I finally know what to do!”
“-?!”
Without another word, Paralluminer grips Vyz’s arm, while casting the Purify spell.
Vyz backs away immediately. He looks to his arm and sees that where the spell landed now glows with white light, and begins to crack. “…What- what did you do-!?”
Paralluminer sits up, “You seem to be fighting yourself more than you’re fighting me… call it a hunch, but I don’t think you ever wanted any of this.”
“You don’t…”, his face begins to crack now, “You don’t know what I want.”
They stand up, and go to him, “I can still help you; you know.”
“Get away! Don’t even touch me!”
“…We may not entirely get it, but a part of us can kinda sympathize with you. Life is full of unwavering cruelty that can break anyone during their early stages. Some are deserted to be left alone because people thought they weren’t good enough. Or perhaps, a loved one had to let them go because someone else wanted to exploit them. Or… they simply die with their family, because their killers saw them as a monster. Some of us have already died once… so please, quit this so no one else has to.”
Vyz is shaken by their words, he takes a deep breath and thinks hard before continuing, “…The thing is, I know you’re correct.”, his body cracks more, at least the spell is silencing the noise in his mind, “But even if I were to agree, I wouldn’t even be around. What you just did has left me with very little time.”
“But we can change that.”
“I…wouldn’t bother. I think I’m ok with this… I spent so much time being angry and wondering if I could share that hate with someone else. But now… I realize I no longer need to… I think… I can make peace knowing you and your friends will aim to make the Multiverse a better place. So, thank you.”
The Void begins to lose its ground, it sinks back into itself and begins to fade. Paralluminer looks up at the many stars and Worlds shining down on them, and they smile. “…The world isn’t all black and white, it’s colorful too.”
“I guess I’ve realized that too late…”, Vyz’s entire body now glimmers, and his legs start to dissipate first. “Just do me a favor.”
“Hm?”
“Take care of this home of yours…” His torso and arms are gone now. “Make it into something I always wanted to see …”. Vyz closes his eyes, and the rest of him vanishes. All that’s left behind is a small, fiery white soul that drifts off into the ether.
“We’ll do the best we can.”
Paralluminer unfuses; and Koto spins around to a stop, “Whew… so…tired. Ugh.”, she flops over and lays down. “(Very good job, Mistress. You can rest now.)”, reassures Illumi. Straus also collapses and starts catching his breath. Everyone else runs up to congratulate them.
Uriel waves at them happily, “Koto! Straus!”
Koto greets her dizzily, “Ooh! Heyyy Uriiiii!”
DarkClaw helps Straus sit up and hugs him, “You’ve done good, kid.”
Everyone celebrates the victory. Koto’s parents hug her tight, Red and Straus share a kiss, it’s love and glory throughout the group.
“I just have one more question…”, asks a sleepy Koto as happy tears fall down her face, “Can we go home now?”
“Of course, ya lil’ goof.”, says DarkClaw. Everyone laughs and continues to revel in the victory as they return to the surface and meet up with the others.
“Back, you beasts! Return to whatever pit you crawled out of! …Look out-!”
Synthis jumps over Gaia’s head, using his spear to knock away a monster that just got a bit too close for comfort. They’ve been fighting like this for ages, everyone has. Those more in tune with the Multiverse itself could feel the ebb and flow of the battle happening down below; the creaking of all creation, ready to snap like a dead tree branch at any moment. If Straus, Koto, Red, and the others can hold on for this long and keep fighting, then hell, they can too! However, just then, Gaia felt a change in the wind; the balance shifting towards the dark. She looks out and sees more and more Stygians crawling out from the cracks in reality, accompanied by a shrill yell. Gods, what could Vyz be doing to them down there? But there’s no time to worry, they’re coming! And if she gives up now… everything she’s fought for up until now will be wasted! She begins to charge up a large attack, then pauses. Looking down at Synthis, she remembers a past regret. Quickly, she puts her shield down in front of him and simply says, “…Take cover.” In an instant, the area is blanketed with her soft, green hues as an unending barrage of spears and bright magic begin to push the monsters back. Synthis looks up at her, wide-eyed. Now THAT was a daughter of Jupiter. But perfectly still behind her shield, he knew that she was different. No, she was better than her mother ever was.
Vyz roars and a mighty storm kicks up that spreads into every corner of the Multiverse. Fiendish, dark purple lightning strikes the ground, and from the clouds above spawn more and more creatures, further mutated than the last. As the analogously-colored quintet holds him off, on the upper layers of the Void, the rest of the party does their best to hold off the monsters long enough to get Koto’s parents to safer ground.
“How can there be more of them?”, wonders Amadi, barely dodging a chomp from one.
Azura finds that he has to use a bit more force for his sword to cut through another, “This is insane!”
“Don’t choke now, guys!”, Ex rallies, “We gotta protect these two!”
Everyone stands back-to-back. Despite this overwhelming feeling in the air, the almost choking presence of an inevitable defeat. They’re still fighting. As so long as they’re still standing, that means Koto and Straus are alive to see the end of it too. If they’re still down there and surviving against the big bad, then surely these lackeys won’t stand a chance if they all- “You know what?! No more holding back!”, Uriel proclaims. “Gather up all the power from within yourselves!”, as she says this, five voidlings start to surround her. Suddenly they’re eviscerated by shining, golden lightning as Uriel turns into a more angelic form, “This is the power our Creators gave us! Don’t let it go to waste now! LET’S SHOW THEM EXACTLY WHAT WE’RE MADE OF!!”
Nova’s eyes gleam with astonishment as she watches, feeling a similar energy in the air around her. “Yeah…yeah! She’s right!”, the symbol on her hand shines a strong blue, and with a dramatic spin, she too activates a similar transformation, sporting armor befitting royalty. “Let’s do it, everyone!!”
Kali laughs, “YEAH!! That’s it, blue!” She stomps the ground and throws her fists outwards, “Get MAD!!”. The ground around her cracks with scarlet light as she too dons her armor.
Seeing the others, Luna gracefully pirouettes into her transformed state. Instead of armor, she instead wears a long, sparkling white dress adorned with ribbons. “Let’s hope this works…”
Melanie nods in agreement. Without a word, she crouches down, ready to pounce. Jumping forward, her clothes also turn into a dress, albeit a bit more ragged than Luna’s. She pulls down her scarf and smiles confidently.
Seeing their daughter’s creations in action, Koto’s parents hold hands and look into each other’s eyes. They smile. When all of this is over, they’ll tell her how proud they are of her.
The boys also begin to activate their more powerful forms one right after the other. “No holding back, huh?”, Nathaniel laughs victoriously as his armor snaps into place. “FINALLY, everyone is speaking my language!”
“Let’s do this!”, Azura takes a running start and leaps into the air. On the way down, his armor forms in time for him to slash straight through a voidling’s torso.
“They have no chance against us.”, Amadi loosens the belts around his mouth as his armor clicks onto him.
Ex leaps and bounds between several stygians. As his speed reaches its peak, he glows a radiant gold and takes them all out with a dance-like spin kick, “Haha! That’s the spirit, everyone!”
Down below, DarkClaw and Exisite also feel the energy picking up. They know their friends are still keeping the battle going, so there’s no way they’ll fall behind too! DarkClaw looks to Straus, fighting as hard as he can to keep them all safe, feeling undeniably proud of him, and proud to be his Incarnate. He looks at his arm and remembers a tactic he used to use during his soldier days. It’s been a while, but if it’s what it’ll take to win, why not try? He overcharges his claw arm, and as it starts to spark with all the strength his cybernetics can offer, his outfit changes to sleek black and red. This is his Kuro form. He smirks, “Get ready to lose, Vyz.” Exisite smiles wide seeing this, and also activates Wrath Wielder, “Heh… this will be over soon.” The two fist bump, and jump back into the fray with the others.
But they’re not the only ones continuing to fight for their World.
Civilians in Lightverse try their best to keep the evacuation efforts up. But with the monsters respawning at an alarming rate, average citizens are falling behind, and the military can only keep the voidlings down for so long before getting overwhelmed. The group that Delta and his mother are currently with are being safeguarded by Nitro and Wraith, but even they start to tire and falter. Just as the enemies are about to get the jump on them, Ajax phases into view. “You want them? You’ll have to go through ME.”, he stabs his sword into the ground, causing it to fissure with an eruption of distorted energy that blasts the monsters away. He huffs and takes his sword back, “I’m the guardsman of this World, I’ll protect all of you until my last breath.” As a new wave approaches, Nitro and Wraith stand by Ajax. One by one, more of the city’s heroes appear. Nave takes his place on the front lines and says, “Don’t count me out… I’ll assist you.” The four jump right in, ripping through whatever dares to come near them. Meanwhile, Selena joined by Indigo and Xenos starts getting the civilians to a safer area. Delta, watching his friends, cheers happily, “YEAH-HA! GO HEROES, GO!” A few people look at him disapprovingly, then to his mother. “…What? My son can’t cheer on the people saving our lives?” She lifts Delta onto her shoulders and also joins in on the rallying cry, “You can do this, heroes!”
For the rest of the Wanderers, today has been rough, to say the least. To wake up and discover that everything the Azul siblings said would happen came to fruition, having to keep their people safe, it’s a lot to handle! At this point, they’ve split off into small groups to cover as much ground as possible. Although they don’t know what keeps causing the sudden changes of the atmosphere, they know somewhere out there in the grand scheme of it all, their friends are out there fighting for DreamWorld’s safety. So, when that same surge of power rushes through them, the feeling they get as they transform is one of hope; a feeling that despite these odds they can still win!
Phoenix, with embers in his eyes, stands atop a ruined, red castle. “Now then, to efficiently take out as many as possible without harming people who are hiding nearby… let’s see how they fair with this!” Holding his hand up, he casts a fireball that grows with every passing second. It catches the attention of every voidling in the area. As they rush towards him, he waits for just…the right…moment! And throws the spell down! The massive hoard pops and fizzles away as they’re burned down.
“Excuse me! Pardon me! Mr. Hero coming through!” Victor uses his magic to cause massive, green vines to sprout from the ground and form protective barriers for people to hide behind. He then hops over one and summons his sword. As he mows through the opposition, one can almost see small plants start to bloom out of the Stygians’s bodies as they crumble apart.
Zack is relentless in his methods to deal with the monsters plaguing the capital city. Ever since joining up with the heroes, he still had an itch for chaos; something he felt when he still fought alongside Mara. THIS was it. Yes, of course, he was still keeping citizens safe, but they were staying far away from him as he brandishes his mighty axe and goes to town on the voidlings.
At the same time, within the forest, Amber and Arin find themselves cornered. Arin fires projectiles as fast as he can, Amber slashes and swipes through the enemies, but it’s no use.
Arin ducks as one flies over his head in an attempt to bite him, “This is ridiculous-! These are the low-level henchmen, right? So how do they keep spawning!?”
Amber shrieks as she kicks another away, “I don’t know-! But we have to keep going, everyone is counting on us! We can’t let them down now!”
After a few more moments, the scale of the battle no longer favors them. They’re backed up against a tree as a hoard moves in to finish them off.
“It’s too much…!”, Arin closes his eyes and braces for the end.
“NO!”, Amber screams.
KRA-KRACK!
The duo hears a familiar sound, the sheer crackle of a sharp whip. They look up and see the voidlings’ bodies fall apart, slashed right through the middle. A girl walks up to them. She’s a bit older than them, with black and magenta hair, and rebellious-looking clothing. She has a permanent grin plastered on her face, and crazed eyes that glow with villainous might.
She smugly approaches them and sighs, “I really hate to say this…but it looks like you nerds need my help.”
Arin’s eyes widen as he shuffles back to his feet, “Mara-!? What’re you-!?”
“Quiet! Listen up, wandering scum, ‘cause I’ll only say this once. You might’ve betrayed me, but I’m still gonna take out these weird goopy freaks with ya. Because this world is MINE to rule, got it!?”
“Mara…!” Amber jumps to her feet, almost tempted hug her, “Thank you!”
“Tsk… don’t mention it. Seriously- don’t. I will literally end you if you tell anyone.”
Arin readies his weapon, “Hate to interrupt this nice moment, but we’ve got more on the way!”
The trio look at each other and nod. “LET’S FREAKIN GO!!”, Mara yells as they charge.
By now, Synthis and Gaia have been joined by Saturn. With everyone scattered to the winds, he’s been trying to influence the battle in as many places as possible. Right now, he’s helped the two get to higher ground to recover.
Gaia is sitting, tending to a scratch on her arm.
Synthis, having never felt this tired before, clutches his shirt as he heaves, “Hh…hagh- they just keep coming!”
“I’m aware.” Saturn acknowledges, looking over the sea of darkness below. “But this is all we can do for now… I just hope everyone is faring better than us.”
