Haaai! I really like your AU so far! I’ve always enjoyed pasta aus where the lore of Marble Hornets is included, makes things tastier (I wasn’t sure if I should laugh or cry at Brian’s chronic back pain) and or character art looks really pretty!
I know it’s pretty earlier in the AU but I’ve got a couple of questions already if you okay with answering! 1) It’s said that Slenderman wants to create a safe haven for monsters of call kind in his forest, what exactly does this entail? Is this for benevolent purposes or is this a secret ploy to gain power? His bio says he’s controlling and manipulative but apparently he also gets unfairly blamed for things? Idk it’s just an interesting dichotomy to me. 2) What does it mean to be a marked proxy? Is there a rim or reason to mark placements? 3) How many characters are you planning on adding to this? Any that you’re willing to share at this time?
All in all I’m really excited about this AU and can’t wait to see where it goes!
Hello!! Absolutely lovely questions and I'm so happy to answer :)
Question one: Clearing up some Slender sickness (lol)
Slenderman's want to create this sort of safe house for those who generally do not fit is not a want that comes out of the pureness and kindness of his heart. (if he even really has one.) By nature and by definition he is a parasite. Everything he does is for his own gain, with his own survival and own wellbeing in mind... However, despite being a horrible eldritch horror there is still a form of affection he seems to feel for certain things or certain people but this affection is entirely based on what they can provide to him. He's more likely to give these people leeway, special treatment, or generally be less of a painful thorn in their side. (Good examples of proxies he favors more would be Tim and Toby for entirely different reasons. Tim knows how to lead, keep people in check and just as obedient as he himself is while Toby is simply someone with more than a few screws loose that is easy to control, easy to keep wrapped around his finger without any fear that he will massively disobey.)
As for that dichotomy, I believe it mostly stems from the fact that most of the bloodshed and awful things happening in the woods are not something Slender has done directly with his own hands as many legends would like people to believe. All of the death in and around the woods that his proxies create is only somewhat incorrectly blamed on him. I'd say it is still pretty fair to blame him for things, honestly.
Question two: Marking and mark placements.
I plan to do a bigger, more in depth post on just the marking system itself but I'll give a brief summary. Marked proxies are proxies who have fully and totally proven their loyalty to Slenderman, entirely handed over their life to him to serve him for the rest of eternity, how willing they are to leave anything and everything about their past lives behind to dedicate the rest of their lives to feeding him. Marked proxies can really honestly be thought of as true proxies, while anyone unmarked is still technically 'in training' no matter how many years they've been serving.
There's no specific time period on when a mark is or should be earned, it's entirely dependent on the person. (Toby being good person to make another example of, earning a mark within his second year of being in the woods VS Jeff being somewhat officially considered a 'proxy' for about seven years and still not being fit enough for a mark... The problem with him being that he does not want one.) As for mark placements, there's no reasoning behind them it's simply wherever Slender could get to in the moment to mark which can sometimes end in sort of odd placements because the person getting marked is usually held down or restricted in some way as they are usually unwilling to be marked when it comes down to the actual process of it. Toby was the only person who willingly sat still for the process, the only person who couldn't feel how incredibly painful it was, which is why it ended up somewhere as simple as his wrist. Making lots examples of Toby in this post lol. Question three: Who's next!! I essentially add characters as I see fit or have interest in them. So no real set number or cast! There's a few more infosheets sitting mostly finished on my computer at the moment (Ones for Jane, Sally and Laughing Jack) With others being Work in progresses or still in a brainstorming stage. (Clockwork, Nina, Bloody Painter, and a couple more.)
Thank you so much for showing interest in this silly little AU, it means a lot to me!! Hope to see you sticking around for more. :)
CAN U PLZ DO BEN AND EJ NEXT!!1!2 I LOVE UR ART AND HEADCANONS X]
SUREEEE THING!!! thank you so much for enjoying my art and this au it means a LOTTT hoping to start posting more than just info sheets soon >-< ANYWAYS here are ya boys and some stuff about them!!
EJ
Crafted from DNA that should never mix, incubated under blinding florescent lights, not a single ounce of connection or warmth in sight for such a fragile creature... Only one scientist was kindhearted enough to treat such an abomination as more than an experiment, more than a weapon. When he became the main scientist assigned to the project, the creature had wrongly assumed the scientist's name was its own. They were nearly one in the same.
Despite being cared for as a living being, the tests had to continue. After a test to determine how the subject would handle several simulated threatening targets at once went horribly wrong, Dr. Nyras ended up dead at the hands of the very thing he had poured so much love and work into. After his life became devoid of the care and attention he'd grown accustomed to with the doctor gone, EJ went on a full blown rampage through the lab and eventually managed to escape.
The woods became a very comfortable place for it, eventually it found a new home. One without the constant buzz of lights, one without scheduled feeding times, one without cruel doctors. All it had to do was care for the hurt, weak and sick... It didn't matter that they were outcasts and many of them killers. So was he.
His preferred weapon in actual combat is his claws and teeth, they feel the most natural. However, it absolutely hates head to head combat and finds it distressing. EJ would prefer a less dire setting with lower stakes where he's able to properly use scalpels and surgical tools rather than its own hands.
BEN
Sinking endlessly, pulled under by the weight of the consequences of his actions. Actions both obscene and understandable given the circumstances. Blood on his hands and tears in his eyes, the bog consumed him. Never to be found, never to be seen again. At least, that's what his "family" had wished when they started getting rid of his belongings.
Taken away from his biological family at an age young enough to only vaguely recall, Ben was raised by parents that were not his and hidden away from the world never permitted to leave. Cruel, unforgiving violent people who had no children of their own... For good reason. He was not the only child whisked away from their real family in that house, but he was certainly the softest. An act of self defense that went too far led to his death. A life for a life. In their twisted minds, it was only fair. In death, his soul clung to one of his only escapes and comforts in his life. With no way of knowing this, when his belongings were carelessly given away to anyone willing to give the old rotten house a second glance he was finally found. Finally seen, finally recognized. Leeching off new sources of power, he eventually grew strong enough to break away from the prison his soul created. Finally totally free, even if he needed to die to get there. No one really knows how he ended up where he did, it's unclear if he even knows. It's even less clear how he managed to so closely link himself with the electricity around him, becoming an integral part of the woods quickly and silently. Without him, life in the woods would be a lot more difficult. No preferred weapon as he doesn't really engage in any combat at all, as his physical form is barely corporeal. The harm he causes is purely psychological, mind games, tricks, making people doubt themselves and the world around them. If someone's mind is strong enough, if they are mentally sound enough, he's practically harmless. (If a little annoying at best.)
HI!! Sorry for the lack of posts, things have been a bit tough! I'm trying to work out the kinks of a few more info sheets and some other info posts... Stay tuned.
the Woods brothers.... my beloved.... i have many thoughts and feelings about both of them... my versions of these two are based off of the 2015 rewrite by K. Banning Kellum.
Jeff Woods
Troubled from a young age, the eldest of the Woods siblings found himself tumbling into a downward spiral before his real life ever began. A turbulent homelife and lackluster parenting fostered behavioral issues in Jeff from a very young age, issues that were never remedied and continued to get worse over the years. Even so, it was more than a shock when he dove off the deep-end following an 'accident' that left him scarred for life. He found quickly that the bloodshed was nearly addictive... With no where to turn when looking to avoid capture for his crimes, Jeff fled and eventually found somewhere that suited him just fine... He could continue to scratch that ever present itch for destruction and hurt while being granted protection from something otherworldly that his crimes seemed to feed. A perfect symbiotic push and pull. Despite this, Jeff continues to avoid falling in line enough to be branded. He refuses to let this thing control him completely, believing that to be marked is to lose freedom.
The life he left behind is one that haunts him more than he would like to admit, it seems he can rarely rest without a glimpse into the past. No matter how much he dreams, he'll never truly piece together how he ended up where he did. However, what haunts him the most is that behind the layers of blood and gore, there's a nagging emptiness. The knowledge that he most important person in his life is no longer in it. All of Jeff's relationships with everyone else living in the woods are complicated at best. He frequently disappears to a nearby lake house to avoid interaction with people and when he is around he is usually antagonistic and crude.
His preferred weapon is a hunting knife he found in an abandoned cabin not too far into his years of officially being labeled a proxy. He will rarely use anything else if possible, but he will always opt for something sharp if he has to.
Liu Woods
Instability and uncertainty are not unfamiliar feelings to the youngest of the two Woods brothers, but the crushing weight of the grief of losing everything in a single night was a form of that feeling Liu had never experienced before. Following his the death of his parents and disappearance of his brother, Liu begins living with his aunt who attempts to support and understand him however she can only do so much. While nowhere near as extreme as his older brother's, Liu would find himself destined for a downward spiral of his own. Grief and loss threw him into the search for any new form of purpose and belonging, to which he only really seemed to find once he made it to college. Instead of moving forward and focusing on the future however, most of his purpose was found trying to dig up the truth of the past. However, attempting to do so near immediately put a target on his back without him knowing.
Friends never came easy to Liu, that much didn't change throughout the course of his life. It was true during his childhood, and remained true in college. He managed to make a single friend he feels truly close to, the rest being given the title of friend while remaining distant with him. The only person he was ever truly friends with was his brother.
With him spending most of his freetime looking for his brother and looking into what he's been doing over the past 10 years, it is inevitable that he would find out about the woods that his brother fled into. He would begin to uncover more than he ever wished to uncover, digging into things he shouldn't be...
More info sheets!! This concludes the marked proxies.
Toby Rogers
Saved from certain death or imprisonment and granted another chance at this wretched life, despite the circumstances Toby is nothing but grateful. He owes his life to an eldritch abomination that chose him early on. He proved his loyalty quick, proved that he would do anything demanded of him to keep his place in this new environment with very little hesitance. He did not fight about or run from being marked either, if anything he offered himself up to be permanently scarred with a mark that would prove his life no longer fully belonged to him... Unlike Tim and Brian, Toby has a pretty solid recollection of how he ended up here. He can recall the bloodshed, the flames, the sirens and flashing lights. He doesn't think about it often, he will only let the past bother him when he has vague nightmares that show him glimpses of it. Even with those glimpses, it's a past he feels he is fine with forgetting for the most part. He has everything he feels he needs, everything he could really ever want. There are flaws about this place, sure, but he has never felt more at home.
While Toby is usually at least mostly cordial with most people in the woods, he only really close with the rest of the marked proxies. Closer still to specifically Tim who he has a very back and forth, love-hate relationship with. It is almost a need for Toby to be out in nature, while he does very much value the privacy and comfort of his own room he'd much rather be out in the woods exploring. It's common for him to be somewhat unavailable for hours on end for this reason... and he usually comes back with more than a few new scrapes and bruises.
His preferred weapon is and will always be his hatchets. From that first taste of blood, it was clear to him knives would never do the trick. He's about one of the worst people you can run into in the woods, prefers to toy with victims and if you think you can run or hide from him-- you're just stupid.
Kate Milens
Disoriented and frantic, panicked and hectic thoughts, while there is a never calm moment in her mind the one thing that is certain for her is that she is no stranger to these woods. They were an escape once, a place to run and play, something wild and exciting to explore but as she grew it became clear to here they were not safe. The woods themself seemed to muddy her thoughts, she started to find her own mind unrecognizable as her thoughts grew sicker and darker. A craving for bloodshed, for tragedy, for the tears of both herself and others. His thoughts that she could not distinguish from her own.
Her view of her place in these woods and her mark remains turbulent. On one hand, there is a sort of connection she has with Slenderman that is akin to the safety of grasping to sweet childhood memories as he himself is representative of the vast sea of trees she finds so comforting. On the other, she knows she is the shell of a girl she can no longer remember and she knows it is all his fault.
Kate's humanity has been chipped away at worse than any other proxy, before being found by Tim and Brian years in the mining facility she woke up in with no one to accompany her but the occasional presence of Slender. Solitude broke her, she became something animalistic, driven by fear and the need to survive. Her relationships with people are distant, the switch from being completely alone to being around so many people all the time was more than difficult for her. While she appreciates the people around her, she will never know how to show it. She is only really close with the other marked proxies as she is most used to them. Only one person who isn't a marked proxy or Slenderman has managed to get close truly to her and it was because he was persistent.
No real preferred weapon, tends to use whatever she can find or blunt force and her bare hands.
OKAYYY FIRST ROUND OF INFO-SHEETS LET'S GO. The info-sheets themselves already have a decent amount of info so here I'll be adding some other things I could not fit/couldn't word precisely just didn't think about at the time.
SLENDERMAN
Bridgegrave's most popular local legend. No one can truly seem to agree on who or what he is. He is a subject of many separate legends, though none of them get it quite right. Most oddities or mysteries in Bridgegrave get blamed on or connected to him even if it is not the case. Mostly, it tends to be because most of those mysteries end up tracing back to Bridgegrave's expansive forest which he is known for inhabiting. However, he's simply just made this place a safe haven for all things and people cruel, otherworldly and/or outcast.
His motives remain unknown, though the most generally agreed upon theory is that tragedy fuels him and is a sort of power source.
Though many would find it hard to believe, he does not take without giving. His proxies create the chaos and misfortune that feeds him and in turn he keeps them alive by mending any injuries that are sure to be fatal. His preferred weapon is his proxies, very rarely will he deal with things himself. He prefers to sit back and watch.
Tim Wright
Absolutely no stranger to chaos and the unusual, it seems he's been haunted since birth. Tim spent years trying to fight for any sense of normalcy, years of his life he can no longer recall. All that seems to be left in his recollection of the past is the lifelong connection to something otherworldly.
He has no memory of once despising the entity he follows without question, no memory of the late nights, the confusion, the dread, the friends he made and lost. He only vaguely resembles the man he used to be.
Being the first proxy of the current batch along with Brian, Tim sort of naturally took on a leadership role. He tries to run a tight ship, tries to keep things going smoothly, does his best to keep people clothed, fed and content... but things don't always go to plan.
Without any knowledge of their past friendship, Tim could never quite place why he felt so connected to Brian upon showing up clueless in the woods with him. He stopped trying to after a while, now the two are practically joined at the hip.
Plans semi-frequent hunting trips in a separate part of the forest not corrupted by Slenderman, doesn't enjoy hunting but recognizes it's the necessity in it.
No one specific preferred weapon, tends to use whatever is available or just opts for brute force.
Brian Thomas
Once the star of the show, approachable and cordial, a friend to many and acquaintance to even more, Brian now seems to prefer taking a bit of a backseat. He'd prefer to stay unknown to most, only allowing himself to be truly close to few. He hates to stay put in one spot for long, he gets stir crazy easily and will frequently disappear into the woods or into town to go on walks. He will usually use these walks to get small errands done especially when going into town. Despite hating being stationary, he will frequently have periods of time where he does not leave his and Tim's shared room for days on end. These are unpredictable and are usually brought on by pain flareups.
He does not remember where the interest came from but he has a particular interest in film, especially odd and completely out there artsy films that are way too heavy on the editing.
Has no recollection of ever feeling betrayed by Tim, ever being against him, ever fighting or ever disagreeing with him... Perhaps this is by design. They seem to complete each other in many ways, wherever Tim may fail to keep up with the duties of being so heavily relied on by so many, Brian makes up for it.
No one specific preferred weapon, though if possible he'd prefer to keep his hands mostly clean. More of a director of violence than an executor.
So, it's been a long time.
I want to say first and foremost, I am so sorry for abandoning this blog. :(
I got overwhelmed, there was a lot going on in my life and my creepypasta hyperfixation faded. BUT. it is back, and so is this blog... With a bit of a new identity. This is no longer a dedicated ask blog. It will have an ask box, I still encourage questions, I still want questions. HOWEVER, there will no longer be a story, there will no longer be any plot. In character questions will be taken when I feel up to it, I will try not to burn myself out. Instead, this is now a blog dedicated to an AU I'm slowly creating. So far I've put a lot of work into this AU and I'd love to share it!!
So to anyone still keeping tabs on this blog, stay tuned, stay excited, and thank you for sticking around!
