1. Take responsibility for treating yourself as an athlete. Get halfway fit (at least). 2. Develop an independent seat. (Good riders don’t bounce) 3. Learn to get your horse to a halfway decent take off point most of the time. 4. Don’t blame the horse for your failures. 5. Ride horses that are suitable for what you want them to do.
