Duo the Oldenburg

This is my blog about my Oldenburg gelding Golden Rule, known as "Duo." That's short for "Do Unto Others!" Duo is by the Hanovarian stallion Gulf Coast out of Purpose xx. He has a heart of gold with the coat to match. I'm weird horse girl all grown up.

With the constant rain and wet pastures for months, my chunk has missed a lot of grazing and lost too much weight. I started him on cool calories until he's fat again!

My beautiful friend Melanie decided she wanted to take riding lessons! I need some work on being a trainer, but she was a natural. I look forward to teaching her more! Duo was handsome, as usual.

Duo has been lame for months. I finally got some x-rays done, and if you can see at the top of his pastern there’s a small chip and the piece is loose. The vet also mentioned the possible beginnings of low ringbone.

Not to mention his toes are WAY too long, and overall unbalanced. And the coffin bone at close to PA 1.

Joints are clean though. I had more views that aren’t included here.

Update! We got him reshod, and the problem coffin joint injected. I've also started a course of pentosan. I really hope he feels better soon
