when i was a kid i believed people when they said that wasps were evil, violent, aggressive creatures.

i believed that they were.

the only interactions i ever had with them was when i was running from them out of my own self-inflicted fear, but still - i just thought that this (that wasps are aggressive) was fact.

now i don’t know how to contend with ever thinking that.

not when i’m standing in a field of wildflowers, circled on every side by tens of beautiful, busy wasps.

surrounded by nothing but gentle, curious beings. things made of all the love nature has to offer.

they care little about me, they’re too busy doing their good work. even with me following them around with my camera, even as i coo at them and try my luck with their personal space.

they aren’t aggressive.

they’re protective. of their homes, their families, their lives. things that we value in other humans, but hate so violently in all else.

i am so thankful for wasps. for me, they make my life worth living. for everyone, they make living life possible.

i cracked open my bedroom window before taking a nap a couple days ago, and there was a wasp just hangin out on the outside of my window screen. she didn't pop out her stinger when i accidentally nudged her a little too hard trying to make sure she hadn't just clung onto the screen and died, just looked down through it at me for a second and then went back to resting there

so i left her a little water on the screen and then we took a nap next to each other

i need people to start caring about trans rights all around the world, not just american. the lok sabha (parliament of india) just passed the transgender amendment bill of 2026 according to which they're removing a person's right to self determination of gender unless they're examined & approved by a medical board. it's hard enough for people here to get a gender defining surgery because of poverty and being shunned by society as is, & now they're taking away their right to exist. the medical boards are bigoted as fuck. despite protests all around the country they passed it. it is so fucking bleak out here.
