IND vs. AUS 3rd ODI

Got up a bit early to catch some of Australia at bat. If you've got Hulu w/ ESPN+ in the USA, you can catch the game on either platform- though I recommend Hulu as the ESPN version seems bit janky for some reason.

India has very good bowlers, but its the batting side that seems to be inconsistent. It doesn't help that Australia's bowlers are very well up to the challenge. Mitchell Starc being one of the key threats.

Suryakumar Yadav("SKY") is still looking to get better established in ODI cricket. He's struggled in the longer formats. The ins and outs of India national team decision making are pretty complicated, so I'm not sure how long they'll give him to prove himself. He's batting 4th, which seems to be a good sign.

As i'm typing this Alex Carey just took the extra delivery after a no-ball to hit six... woof. Carey and Stoinis seem to be putting together a productive partnership.

India fielding also has looked a little sluggish.

It will be exciting to see how India chases. Both teams aren't really at any risk in ODI standings, this is just the top two teams going at each other with great lineups.

It's a test day!

Late afternoon (5pm Eastern, 1pm Pacific): New Zealand 🇳🇿vs Sri Lanka 🇱🇰

Sri Lanka hasn't played a test match in a while and New Zealand is coming off of a stellar test victory against England. Both teams can be very exciting to watch, but can be inconsistent. From my brief reading, New Zealand is the favorite (especially being the home teaam) but there are a lot of great players on the Lanka side that could hit a hot streak.

Evening (11pm Eastern, 9pm Pacific): India 🇮🇳 vs Australia 🇦🇺

As far as I can tell, this is going to be pretty much an "oops all bowling" kind of match. India is still struggling to establish a batting game, I'm hopeful that Suriyakumar ("SKY") Yadav can start popping off but I think he's still adapting to top level test bowlers giving him less to work with.

Mitchell Starc is back for Australia, so it'll be interesting to see how he's feeling after his broken finger from a few months back.

i am still learning the nuances of seam and swing bowling. I swear when I watch bowlers they all look like they're doing the same thing and then sometimes to see a delivery that seems to just completely defy the batters expectations- almost like it just passes through the bat or the legs and hit the stumps. And then you believe. 🏏

A quick little ‘hello’

a little about me

I just started getting into Cricket this fall (2022). Having lived in the USA my entire life, I have no direct history or experience with the sport.

For the longest time, my only understanding of cricket was that the terminology was goofy and Casey Jones whaled on Raphael in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.

Turns out the sport is fascinating

I wanted to share that enthusisam and maybe grow the fandom among folks that otherwise have no familiarity with it. I'm also a fairly big history nerd and the intersection of Cricket and imperialism is truly fascinating.
